"Bucatini Caffe is the latest in this city’s string of SPBWAIWIIN (South Philly BYOBs With An Italian Word In Its Name). You know the type: cozy corner spots with free bread, vintage pictures of the old country framed on the wall, and warm, friendly service punctuated by the staff constantly asking if you want fresh pepper or parmesan on your salad, pasta, or poured down your throat. Nothing at the East Passyunk restaurant will blow you away—in fact, we found a few dishes lacking in flavor (skip the duck ragu). But if you stick to the crispy octopus topped with a tangy arugula salad, the creamy lobster bucatini, and the pistachio cannoli, you’ll leave as satisfied as when you exit Scannicchio’s, Aroma on 3rd, and other SPBWAIWIIN cousins." - Candis R.
