"It’s been a journey for L’Appartement 4F. The bakery started as an apartment-based, pandemic-era business, eventually turning into a Brooklyn Heights brick and mortar where their mini croissant cereal achieved modest fame. Now, there’s a takeout counter in the West Village, and it’s wonderful for reasons that have nothing to do with cereal gimmicks. Their croissant is crackly, stretchy, and overloaded with butter, and the dense cheese boule is the rare loaf of bread that doesn’t require any toppings or spreads. If there’s room in your bag, toss in an airy baguette with everything seasoning. photo credit: Bryan Kim" - Bryan Kim
