Cecily

Wine bar · Greenpoint

"Seafood is the natural star of any wine bar menu. We could go on a long tangent about tannin levels and other winespeak for why that is, but all you really need to know is that anything on Cecily’s menu that comes from the sea is going to be your best bite of the night. A phenomenal plate of gildas features three skewered boquerones in a rich olive oil, and the mackerel toast here is an upgrade from the typical tinned fish snack, covered instead with buttery slabs of house-pickled fish. This Greenpoint bar has a couple of entrees too, but we’d stick to the apps and wine for a pre-dinner warm up. In a former art gallery with odd angles and trapezoidal ceilings, Cecily has a relaxed, coastal European feel that’ll impress your date without the pressure that comes with a fancier restaurant." - Neha Talreja
