Wagyu House Atlanta - Review - West Midtown - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"West Midtown’s Wagyu House is an over-the-top Korean BBQ and Japanese yakiniku spot with meats that are shockingly high quality given the $50 AYCE deal. There’s a decent-sized buffet with great spicy crab claws, garlicky udon, cold banchan, and milk tea. But the showpieces are the table-grilled meats, including a tender wagyu, a beautiful marbled Australian chuck eye with egg dip, and sweet Iberico pork. Thankfully, staff help monitor the grills, so you can return to the buffet line without worrying about your lamb rack burning to a crisp. photo credit: Courtesy of Chubby Group The place has enough neon and gold to feel like a casino restaurant, but a huge wrap-around patio with views of the Atlanta skyline lets you know exactly where you are. Expect just about everyone—from Atlanta’s see-and-be-seen crowds to families and big birthday groups—filling in the cushy booths and hovering over the electric table grills. Despite the luxe setting, everyone still orders meats and appetizers via tablet. And there are some logistics to abide by: parties are restricted to ten dish orders at a time, everyone gets a 90-minute dining limit (110 for larger tables), and you may be charged for wasted food. Our advice? Skip the lackluster sushi and hot appetizers, and focus on the buffet and tableside meats. That's where you’ll find the best options anyway. Food Rundown Golden Wagyu Pot This excellent beef and chicken noodle broth comes with its own tableside burner, so you can refill your bowl with hot soup all dinner long. Order this. Actually, get two. Stir-Fried Wagyu Udon If this is on the buffet hot bar, get it. The silky noodles are stir-fried in a garlic-heavy, beefy soy sauce with bell pepper, onion, and chunks of wagyu. Spicy Crab Also on the buffet, these steamed crab legs come coated in a well-seasoned chili sauce that’ll have you inappropriately licking your fingers no matter how hard you try not to. Australian Wagyu M8-9 Chuck Eye With Egg This marbled, thinly sliced wagyu tastes like something you'd eat in a fancy steakhouse. After you cook your meat, dip it into the egg wash to give the already tender meat a smoother chew and a subtle sweetness. Sushi The sushi is akin to the pre-made grocery store variety. Order more meat instead, or just hit the buffet for better seafood options. photo credit: Nina Reeder Ube Colada In terms of looks, this vibrant purple drink blends matches the place to a tee. And while you don’t taste much ube flavor, it makes a really good lime-coconut punch." - Nina Reeder
