Painted Park - Review - Inman Park - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"The number of “painted” eat and play concepts in Atlanta has ballooned to four (Painted Pickle, Painted Duck, and Painted Pin). This one, just off the Beltline in Inman Park, has the least amount of games, and food that can't compete with its sister spots. But it is a lively social scene, where you meet friends for a drink (or when you need a break from dodging rollerbladers on the trail). Descend into the tunnel that connects Painted Park to the pedestrian paved path. The multi-level space is filled with the sounds of casual chatter mixing with ping pong balls bouncing and skee balls ricocheting off their tiered holes. The food matches the skill level of the amateur players. So it’s best to skip the regrettable turkey reuben and passable chicken tenders and stick to their decent selection of local beers and stiff cocktails like an Old Fashioned. Food Rundown Turkey Reuben It’s pretty bland. The only thing you can really taste is sauerkraut, and even that doesn’t have the usual zip. Warm Crab Dip This is the best of the just-OK appetizers. It’s warm, cheesy, and you can actually taste the crab. Chicken Fingers These are a reliable order, and you get a decent portion of fries on the side. photo credit: Sarah Newman Tempura Mushrooms This would be a respectable order, but the fried batter tastes like a funnel cake, which just isn’t the flavor we want with our savory mushrooms. Skip this. Soy Ginger Tofu Nuggets These little cubes are crispy, and that’s about it. We need a map to find where the soy and ginger flavor is hiding. Beer Selection There are just six beers on draft here but plenty of bottles and cans with a nice variety from Georgia breweries (Monday Night, Round Trip, Gate City, etc.). The rest of the offerings are enough to cover the basics with a smattering of IPAs, ciders, sours, and stouts. photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman Pause Unmute" - Juli Horsford
