"San Gennaro’s counter and stand-up bar in Little Italy is one of our favorite destinations at any time of day: their rectangular, thick crust slabs of pizza al taglio are terrific with an espresso inthe morning or a pitcher of Apérol spritz in the afternoon. We have a thing for the early morning breakfast pizza with baked eggs and sun-dried tomatoes embedded in the crust, but everything else, like the carb-on-carb potato and caciocavallo—and the simple caprese—is delicious, too. The same family owns Bottega next door, a fancier spot for classic Italian dishes, thin crust pizzas, and calzones, with a deep wine list featuring beautiful Italian reds and some of the most delicious meatballs and arancini in town." - Ivy Lerner-Frank
