"The shiny donut shop in Potrero Hill from the Spruce team specializes in beautiful sourdough donuts. They sound great in theory, but the sourdough base overpowers many of the flavors, and the overly chewy textures create a workout for your mouth. Take the campfire donut—it looks cool with its giant marshmallow on top, but you have to unhinge your jaw, all just to get more sourdough flavor. The donuts that are simpler are better, like the blueberry lime, and lemon meringue—the tartness of the lemon breaks through the sourdough sameness." - Ricky Rodriguez
