"All-day Aussie restaurant Granger & Co is clean, slightly refined, and 100% inoffensive for those breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinners (yes, they do it all) when you need a place that’ll have something for everyone. They’ve got a few places in London, but this Clerkenwell branch is what happens if a mood board for design-conscious EC1 was magicked into life. There are big windows, lots of wood, tastefully bland art, and the kind of clientele that look like they stepped out of a Bang & Olufsen advert. It’s also the kind of place where everything from the prawn, XO and nduja fried rice, to the (excellent) crispy chicken burger, comes topped off with a big old handful of coriander. That means everything is zingy, fresh, and tastes a lot healthier than it probably is." - Oliver Feldman

Dream XI'AN 梦长安 中餐馆 Xi’An Street Food , Biangbiang Noodles

Chinese restaurant · Fenchurch

"Thick, broad, hand-pulled noodles seasoned with chilli, garlic and Sichuan pepper, Xi’an Biang Biang noodles offer a delectable taste and texture. “Biang biang” relates to the onomatopoeic sound of the fat, flat dough strands as they’re stretched and shaken into shape. They hail from Shaanxi province. I am not an expert on the geographical nooks of China’s 9.6bn sq km, but I am a consummate professional at consuming large amounts of biang biang, savouring how their flat, sturdy, slippery surface gives great purchase to thrusts of garlic, oil, spring onion, ground chilli and peppercorn. Biang biang, to the unaccustomed eye, might look more like sparsely dressed pappardelle than vegetable-packed, sauce-soaked chow fun Cantonese noodles. They"
