Jimmy T's Place

Breakfast restaurant · Capitol Hill

"You always know what you’re going to get at Jimmy T’s: a table, diner-grade coffee, your breakfast served on a paper plate, and a check that can only be paid with cash. This is the best place in the neighborhood to shake off a wild night, and Jimmy T’s does the morning-after basics best—we love the straightforward, absolutely zero-frills grilled cheese with tomato and a side of fries. We also like the plain and satisfying hamburger, and a meat-heavy “maternity sandwich” named for the owner’s past pregnancy cravings. Jimmy T’s opened in the ‘60s, and a photo of Kennedy still hangs askew on the wall and a vintage TV plays on loop. We hope this place lasts forever. " - madeline weinfield
