Oasis Grill

"When you’re hungry and have precisely 24.2 minutes before your next meeting, go to Oasis Grill. The speedy team at this halal Mediterranean takeout spot churns out gyros, shawarma plates, and Greek salads like they’ve done it thousands of times—because they probably have. After years of feeding the nearby office workers who swarm here during lunch, they can clear a crowd in minutes. Order the beef and lamb gyro or the chicken shawarma and watch the team quickly finish off whichever meat you choose on the grill, and stuff it into a lavash pre-loaded with tzatziki and greens. This mini-chain has four locations, concentrated in the Financial District with another outpost in Berkeley. They’re all carbon copies of one another when it comes to efficiency, quality, and menu size, so pick whichever one is closest. A meal here won’t blow you away, but you’ll appreciate a solid meal that you can grab and go with a short wait." - Patrick Wong
