Oakland
Brenda's Oakland
Restaurant · Piedmont Avenue
So popular in SF, they had to open a location in Oakland. Incredible soul food takes on classic choices. I had the fried chicken Benedict at brunch, and it was absolutely delicious. I can also recommend the grits, as they are one of my favorites and Brenda’s does them perfectly. I’ve also heard wonderful things about their beignets, but I was too full to try them on my last visit.
SLIVER Pizzeria
Pizza restaurant · Mountain View Cemetary
Only one flavor/style of pizza made daily, but it’s always delicious. I’ve had the corn cilantro green chili pizza, and I crave it every time I’m in Oakland.
Oriental BBQ Chicken Town
Temporarily Closed
The best hole in the wall Korean fried chicken place! Yang-nyum chicken, tteokbokki, and corn cheese all the way.
Homeroom
New American restaurant · Mosswood
Serves a wide variety of Mac and cheese, and I’ve heard it’s the best in Oakland.
Palmetto
Permanently Closed
New American, with a rotating menu. Everything I tried here was out of this world. I went with friends and we swapped bites of our meals. Can confirm the ribeye, pork chop, and blackened trout were all delicious.
Mama
Italian restaurant · Adams Point
Fancy Italian food, some of the best I’ve ever had. The menu changes daily, but if they have the option to add lamb shanks, do it.
