Founder and chairman Maurizio Zanella notes they were among the first to use machinery to wash and dry grapes—what they call a 'berry spa'—a move once mocked as blasphemous after the adulteration scandals of the 1970s, when 'water was considered to be the devil' by many wine-producers.
