The drive to Sa Calobra was one of the most breathtaking experiences for me — a dramatic, winding road that snakes through limestone mountains and plunges into hidden valleys. Go early, just as the sun begins to rise, before the bikers and tour buses appear. In that golden hour, the light spills across the cliffs like something from another world — silent, timeless, and spellbinding. Once you reach the bottom, there is a visible parking lot to park in. The main port is immediately visible once you walk out of the lot and down the hill to the water. It’s a common rest stop for cyclists and a good place to stretch, grab a coffee, and enjoy the sparkling sea before your journey continues. But the real magic lies just beyond. Behind two stone tunnels — only accessible by foot — you’ll find Torrent de Pareis, a dramatic gorge that opens into a surreal beach flanked by towering rock walls. After a bite or a coffee at the port, follow signs for the Túnel de Sa Calobra and step into what feels like another realm. Arrive before noon if you want to experience its stillness; by midday, the crowds descend and the spell begins to break.
