"A prime example of a tropical cloud forest and my second favorite place after Isalo, Ranomafana is one of the best spots in Madagascar to see lemurs (it contains twelve species) and also hosts giraffe beetles, many birds, chameleons and other wildlife. Guides are required (and invaluable for spotting animals), and I recommend doing the morning hike followed by afternoon and night hikes at the secondary entrance to avoid the crowds; there are hot springs in the nearby town to relax in. The park covers about 415 square kilometers but visitors only see a few square miles, so it can still feel crowded, especially in the mornings when tour buses arrive, and there’s a daily visitor limit so low season is best." - Matthew Kepnes
