Situated south of Prague, Rožmitál pod Třemšínem Castle was used by Robert Eggers and his crew to extend the film’s sense of old-world dread beyond the studio backlots. Built in the 13th century, it is very much of Nosferatu vintage, and its age and architecture help anchor the movie’s eerie, timeworn atmosphere in a tangible medieval setting. - Gregory James Wakeman
