"Located about two hours by road from Yogyakarta, this four-floor (plus basement) institution—opened in September 2017—is devoted to the keris, the ceremonial Javanese dagger. Some 360 keris are on display, ranging from curved to straight-bladed historic pieces, and a diorama demonstrates the keris-making process. The museum runs keris-making workshops and houses an audio-visual library and a children’s room; it has capacity to showcase up to 4,000 keris. Nearby attractions include the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace (built 1744) and the 18th-century Fort Vastenburg, which hosts music and arts events." - Isabel Ong
