"Brand new to Miami Beach, this souk-inspired marketplace opened December 2 just in time for Art Basel, returning to a more social vision of retail with art, rotating pop-ups, and public programming. Conceived by Argentine hotelier Alan Faena and set on the same compound as his famed Faena Hotel in the officially designated Faena District, it occupies the old Atlantic Hotel, which Faena describes as a “blank canvas.” He worked with OMA (founded by Rem Koolhaas) on a clean, art deco white exterior, but once inside, like Dorothy entering Oz, everything becomes color. The first floor features an art gallery with rotating exhibitions; the second and third are home to retail shops brought in by luxury destination retailer Maris Collective, including emerging designers like C. Bonz and Adriana Iglesias; and the fourth is a modern U-shaped event space with a terrace. “Programming will be key to the Bazaar’s experience, with wellness being a focus,” Faena tells Vogue, with examples like monthly moon healing rituals and sound-guided healing sessions. Though permanent, the space is designed to be ever-evolving and to encourage seamless wandering so there is always a chance to uncover new curiosities." - Elise Taylor
