Twin Tails - Review - Columbus Circle - New York - The Infatuation

"Twin Tails is someone’s idea of a great time, and that someone is ahead on their mortgage. From the people behind Zou Zou’s and Bad Roman, the place is massive and glitzy, with a $175 beef shank khao soi on the menu. It appears to be a clear-cut case of Midtown executive bait, but if you’re willing to pay, you can eat well here. photo credit: Christian Harder photo credit: Christian Harder photo credit: Christian Harder The restaurant is on the third floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle, and it serves a Southeast Asian-inspired menu perfectly tailored to its upscale mall setting. We’re talking tiger prawn pad thai, lobster summer rolls, and filet mignon in the form of shaking beef. Some dishes, like the crab-and-uni buns, lean gimmicky, but a few transcend their corporate setting. Thick-cut salmon crudo takes a new, peppy personality when paired with coconut and tart green apple, and a mammoth pork shank provides bite after bite of crackly skin and melty fat. If you’re planning a meal with clients or out-of-towners, and you need a Midtown-adjacent venue with wow factor, keep this place in mind. It’s so dark your eyes will struggle to adjust, but once they do, they’ll take in mirrored walls, checkered marble floors, and servers in off-white coats lined up like they’re attending roll call. It’s all very glam in an ’80s way, and it’s worth the price of admission, as long as you don’t really care about prices. Food Rundown Peanut-Ginger Chicken Satay So incredibly fine. If you’re in the market for a few flaps of grilled chicken with a sweet satay sauce, have at it. Bánh Khọt A necessary order. Top one of the hot, greasy pancakes with a heap of peekytoe crab, and watch a cloud of steam escape when you bite in. photo credit: Bryan Kim Salmon Crudo Another great starter option, the salmon crudo comes layered over slices of crisp green apple, which add some satisfying crunch and acidity. Crispy Rice & Pomelo Salad As advertised, there’s plenty of rice and pomelo. Unfortunately, that rice is chewy instead of crispy. photo credit: Bryan Kim Pork Shank It’s $50, although you should know that this crispy, football-sized pork shank can feed at least two. The heavily dressed rice underneath gets a little exhausting, but this dish is worth it for the crunchy skin alone." - Bryan Kim

Yelp
UPDATE I finally got through and spoke to someone, ... I will update the stars once I go to the event. Update It was amazing! The staff was great! We had a great time! Happy new year!

Yelp
Very nice lounge in Columbus circle. It's on the 4th floor so I have to disagree with all the "great views" comments, especially if you come at night. Drinks were good but pricey, lots of edible glitter, smoke, the works. They have some light snacks, I enjoyed the tater tots. Service could have been better, we came on a Monday night and the waiter disappeared for a while even though it was pretty empty.

Yelp
This place didn't disappoint... I used to come here all the time when it was Stone Rose Lounge whether on my own or dragging friends along with me (who would wonder WHY we're going to a 'mall' bar/restaurant). I recently took my fiancé here to show him one of my old stomping grounds that had clearly been rebranded. He actually enjoyed thankfully (after disliking other popular restaurant/bars in Columbus Circle). I find the place to be dark and brooding, but welcoming with many amazing concoctions to choose from.

Yelp
My favorite lounge to go to. It's a great vibe that starts off intimate, but escalates to a more chill party vibes with an amazing view. Drinks can get pricey, but what do you expect at a place like this. I recommend espresso martini!

Yelp
This is a well decorated beautiful lounge. The bar is gorgeous and the service was incredible. We had our networking event there with about 100 people and they treated us very well. The drinks and food were fantastic as well. We will be going back.

Yelp
Just a stunning lounge to visit. It's romantic, beautiful, intimate, all rolled into one. It's probably at one of the best locations in the world. Yes, you heard that right. The world! Overseeing billionaire's row, the views are stunning. The upbeat background music helps set the tone for the evening. All of this comes with a price, of course. Couple of drinks, couple of very small appetizers and you're in for $100. Not cheap. But, expected given the uniqueness of it all.

Yelp
Finally made it here to try food & lounge! I came for a networking event & stayed after for food. The view is so awesome here & the ambiance is perfectly upscale & flattering. The hostesses took great care of me. The menu item I wanted, saw online, they sadly didn't have that day. Huge bummer but I hate thinking about where to eat after I settle on a place so I stayed & ordered the chicken sliders. They were different. The slaw on them made me think of an Asian twist to a chicken slider. They were good. I think I could've done with more flavor from a sauce but no real complaint. I definitely want to return here & maybe host my group here! Go, enjoy!

Yelp
Fantastic view and location, food so so .. seems a bit snobby clientele but servers are great, friendly and prompt ,, relaxing and beautiful place to spend time ..would return for drinks but probably not food..

Yelp
If you are looking for great views and good cocktails on UWS, look no further. The service was great, with multiple waitresses checking in several times. The cocktails were not cheap...but the views were completely worth it. Poison pear margarita and the Rosemarys Basil are highly recommended! Both refreshing and delicious. Ambience is also great - - perfect for a date night or catching up with a friend. The only con is that you are entering into a beautiful lounge but through the Columbus shops mall. That ruins the vibe a bit and wish they had an exterior entrance

Yelp
Came here for a friend's birthday party as they reserved a space by the dj. The space itself is super nice and comfortable to chill in. We got the below drink and the wagyu beef sliders. The drinks are definitely the star of the show, they have a wide selection that you can choose from. The small bites on the other hand are good but not the best bang for your buck, so just something to keep in mind. Also has a great view of Columbus circle if you sit by the windows. Definitely recommend if you have a big party or are looking for a birthday space in midtown.

Yelp
Came here for a NYU alumni event and it was a very nice location. The appetizers were aplenty and the bartenders were great! I loved for this event how they had a woman wearing a dress holding cocktails that was so unique. It's not a huge lounge but it's definitely big enough to have a good time.
google avatar

Nakia S.

Yelp
This is a must visit!!! I think it's best for dates or with a group of classy friends! My work family took me here for my birthday to celebrate and it was amazing! Daysie was our waitress and she was borderline AMAZING!!!! All the staff was very nice and accommodating, they shouted me out and was so personablelove y'all for that. This is a finger food style menu because it's more of a lounge atmosphere....drink, enjoy the Central Park view, listen to some music and chill. People dressed to impress, nothing too fancy but you definitely wanna wear your good clothes LOL. It is on the pricey side but worth every dime! Bring a few extra dollars to tip the bathroom staff who graciously assists with hand lotion, mints, etc... Beautiful place, I will be back!

Yelp
The place was super slow in a Saturday night and the server was not very attentive. The venue is very nice, but it's more of a club than a lounge with the music super loud, so if you are expecting to have a conversation, this is not the place to go. I was hoping to get some food, but the kitchen was already closed. No idea at what time they do that, but it should be advised somewhere.

William K.

Yelp
Ascent Lounge at Columbus Circle is my go-to spot, again and again! It's the perfect place to unwind after work with stunning views of Central Park, fantastic drinks, and first-class service. Their expertly crafted cocktails and chic atmosphere make it an ideal spot to relax or connect with colleagues. Highly recommend for an unforgettable evening!

Yelp
Strong cocktails, amazing views, great sexy vibes. Service is quite prompt. Would recommend taking someone from out of town to impress them with the views (it's quite a tourist trap) OR if you're looking for a spot for a corporate event as it's in a convenient location.
google avatar

Yelp
Super high end and fancy.. if you want to get the feel of flamboyance and chic give this place a visit. Their prices complement the ambience. I tried their popular smoked old fashioned cocktail. It's expensive but totally worth the price. It is a true delight packed in a glass; bourbon, maple syrup, cherry bitters, orange juice, Brandied cherries etc etc etc. The presentation is also fancy, the bar tender smokes it out in front of you and yes the taste lives upto its hype, though a bit on the sweeter side. I would love to visit this place again and try a few more cocktails. I think they do know their alcohol though same cannot be said about the food. One day soon when I return for more I will update this review.

Yelp
I attended a private event here on St. Patrick's Day and I had a wonderful experience. The staff are so kind and attentive. The bartenders made strong delicous cocktails. The cocktails were customized by the organizers but still, very innovative and delicous. The vibe, was just amazing. The space is clean, elegant and seems to have a lot of customizable options for branding, too. I would love to come back and see this place when it's not rented out for an event.

Yelp
Like most commercial places in Columbus Circle, this lounge is upscale and absolutely gorgeous. I really appreciated that the service was attentive but not overbearing, and the noise level wasn't too high. l've ordered espresso martinis at countless places, but their Coconut Espresso Martini is undoubtedly the king of them all. The Mother of Dragons Mojito debuted with a stunning presentation attributed to the dry ice, but got a bit too sweet for my taste in the end.

Yelp
Large open space with comfortable seating, great casual spot if you're in the neighborhood

Yelp
Came here on Halloween with my lady and had a great time! They had a DJ playing music with a few folks dancing. Others chose to sit at a table or against the window facing the view of Columbus Circle. We were seated at a high top and enjoyed a few cocktails, all of which were strong and mixed nicely. We also worked our way through a sampling of finger foods - sliders, kebabs, etc. Our server was super friendly and very quick to refill our drinks and close out our tab. If you're looking for a relaxing night out, nice view, and dance music all under one roof, you have come to the right place.

Yelp
We reserved at this lounge as we had an event at Lincoln Center. There is affordable parking right around the corner which was awesome. We were able to rebook the time for our reservation as we were running late. The atmosphere was great. The waitresses/waiters were very attentive. We only had one hour to drink and eat and everything came out on time. This seems like a great place to have a private event. I didn't get a chance to take pictures of all of the small bites but everything was delicious. I would recommend especially the tuna tartare tacos... YUMMY!!
google avatar

Keiko E.

Yelp
It is good ambiance and service , many appetizers are tasty but extremely small , a kid size.
google avatar

Alan L.

Yelp
A place for a special occasion. The room is spacious with a high ceiling and large windows which provide a perfect view of Columbus Circle. The cocktails are creative and delicious. The finger food options are surprisingly good. The staff is attentive. We will return!
google avatar

Catherine L.

Yelp
Nice place for a pre-dinner cocktail. Perfect for impressing out-of-towners. The lounge is spacious but feels intimate and exclusive. Great view of city.
google avatar

Tatiana C.

Yelp
The ambiance was posh and the food was tasty although they were smaller portions. The drinks were not great as compared to the price point; I would expect a more elevated taste. I've been to several cocktail bars that I would not mind spending $25 on a cocktail if the drinks are well made. To top it off, the service was poor. Our waitress seemed like we were an inconvenience. I felt that was rude as we were celebrating a friend's big project and chose to spend our money here. To top it off, after I used the bathroom I asked the attendant to hold the door for me so I could throw my paper towel away and she scoffed at me as she was playing games on her phone in work uniform and told me she didn't think that was her job. I was shocked at how rude the staff was and will never be going here again.

Yelp
Went back fod another visit and had so much fun. Post Barbie show. Loved the lychee martini.

Yelp
Beautiful lounge, amazing experience. Overseeing Central Park and Columbus circle, Ascent Lounge is an amazing place to spend your evening. The cocktails we tried were all gorgeous and delicious. My favorite is the Mother of Dragons Mojito - came with dry ice smoking on the top that lasted a while. Very creative and pretty design. The Librado Luxe also came with a smoking wood design. When you order on their menu, make sure you choose the cocktails with the * on the side, as they're the ones with the interactive/moving parts. The cocktails were on the expensive side, but the food is relatively cheap. The wagyu beef sliders were juicy and bigger than expected. Great snack to have with your cocktails!
google avatar

Mei L.

Yelp
Fun cocktails, good wine selection, with a nice low key lounge vibe. There's a DJ, a small dance floor, and tons of seating. Great date night spot or for a small group of friends.
google avatar

Yelp
I should preface this as being a pre-pandemic review. Ascent has a special place in my heart. I would often visit on nights in college (over 21 of course) and grad school, and feel like I could just relax. Despite probably being the youngest patrons there, a friend and I found comfort at sitting at the bar and watching the cocktails be made up close! Yes, the drinks are expensive but they are so well-crafted. We were always treated great by Fidel and Matija who went above and beyond to start recommending unique drinks they thought we'd like by remembering our past orders. Not sure if they are still at Ascent, but if they are, you're in great hands! Cant wait to return; miss it here!

Yelp
Discriminatory outdated practices which will eventually lead to the demise of the establishment. My first encounter at this place was strictly on a whim a couple of weeks ago. I called and everything seemed fine the host was inviting I went in for a cocktail and went home. I was excited about the vibe because at that time I encountered a mix crowd with good music. I was dressed down. Fast forward to 3/19 and the entire atmosphere has changed immediately upon arrival with another female friend the hostess leans over her stand look us up and down then get the manager without saying a word. This tall linky Eastern European white man proceeds to come out shake his head and say No! Confused we ask what are you talking about he then states that no Athletic gear on Saturday so me with my plain skippies and my friend with her "super Athletic Jordan's" couldn't sit at the bar.... I advise that I was just there a couple of weeks ago and this was never mentioned anywhere on the website nor was a requirement. Matija Rajak then tells me one of the owners came in last Friday and seen "the people" inside and was really mad and implemented the rules. Now let me reiterate when I first visited the establishment I was excited to see such a mix of people in which made me want to tell other people about this place and plan events, where there was such a colorful mix of people. My return was met by the unt unt jersey crowd and not much else because it was actually empty. I was told the other white patrons was allowed to have on sneakers because they came in before 8pm I arrived at 8:15pm. After deciding to take my money else where to the piano bar directly across from ascent I casually watch the same host and manager let in loads of white people in with shorts, tennis shoes, docks and other seemingly athletic gear.... A total disgrace and I advise anyone who like to be treated with respect and equality to go elsewhere.... Do better!!!! This is New York City we're not accepting the passive aggressive racism nor classism BS anymore! This city is one of the most diverse cities in the world to come here and post up shop is to accept and honor that diversity! After the Pandemic it's amazing to see some of the hardest hit industries try to sneakily regress back into low tier scummy policies that had y'all practically begging to stay afloat Lastly me and the other black yelper have no affiliation at all! It was amazing to read her experiences and how exactly the same it was to mine.

Yelp
Went here on a Friday evening, the ambiance is upscale yet welcoming. The drinks were good as well as the appetizers. I had the charcuterie board which was especially good for the price as well as the Mac and Cheese bites and the BBQ chicken skewers. Would skip the skewers next time as they seemed to have a basic BBQ sauce taste. Service was good, everyone was willing to help!
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
The best thing about this lounge is the ambiance. It's a good pick for drinks. The food is pricey and tasteless. We ordered crab cakes, chicken skewers, tater rods and sliders- nothing too exotic- what can go wrong? Well everything- the tater tots was the only thing we ate. Service was average. Ambiance wins and warrants 3 stars.

Sonia L.

Yelp
The food, ambiance, and service were all exceptional. I'm eagerly looking forward to going back. The music was at a perfect volume, allowing for easy conversation with my family. It wasn't loud or intrusive, making it easy to hear each other.
google avatar

Jory D.

Yelp
Customer service is crap. My wife forgot her card. She went back to get it. Presented her id. These people refused to give her back her card for an hour. The name on the card matched the name on the id! She had multiple forms of id! But no, she's black and therefore must be put through the third degree by seemingly every white person with any small degree of power. I'm so tired of her being treated as less in her own country! TIRED!

Felicia B.

Yelp
Went to the lounge yesterday for a belated birthday dinner. Service was without a smile or any type of feeling so that was disappointing. The morning after, my stomach was turning since 5am. I had the crab cakes (not good at all) Brussel sprouts - just ok and pizza which seemed to be the killer of my stomach. I checked in with my friend who had everything I had plus the truffle max and cheese which she said was bad. She also had stomach issues. All of this to say, we won't be back! Food not good the only thing we enjoyed was the overall scene.
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
Good vibe. Great bar and drinks. Blonde at the front needs to check her attitude but once past her it was a lovely experience. Drinks pricey but nice atmosphere and enjoyable. 4th floor at TWC or whatever mall it's called now at Columbus Circle.
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
Amazing place to relax and have a few drinks with a nice view of Columbus circle. Hostess and greeter were very kind and accommodating. Definitely would have to make a reservation first! The smoked old fashioned was amazingly overpriced ..... however Ascent is definitely a place to go at least once or twice a month with friends!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
I was here for a filming of an artist record signing party and the food and atmosphere were amazing! High ceilings with perfect views of the city and central park! Enjoyed dumplings, tartare, sliders, and lots of 'hors d'oeuvres! Excellent miniature spring rolls with teriyaki!
google avatar

Almira F.

Yelp
Ascent is inside the mall and despite being on the 4th floor, it offers a nice view of the circle and the park. On the weekends, they have a dj who starts playing later in the evening. I've only had drinks including a glass of Sancerre and old fashion and both were up to standard . The service is pretty good but could improve a tad bit by not having to get their attention for drinks, etc. overall , I enjoy coming here as it's close my house and is accessible by the subway for friends.

Jessica V.

Yelp
I have been to Ascent Lounge a few times and every time has been a phenomenal experience. The new years' experience was a must. We had an amazing time; the apps were delicious, and the drinks are probably one of the best cocktails I ever had in NYC. The DJ was good, the environment, the crowd, the VIEW ! Great new years for us! Today I came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. The cocktails are a bit on the pricey side however you get what you pay for, it will be worth EVERY cent. I am sure everybody has been to numerous establishments where they probably charge you 3 dollars less than the price at Ascent and you feel like it wasn't even worth 5 bucks or just a waste of $. If you want to have GREAT, UNIQUE, DELICIOUS cocktails with a great ambience & service: THIS IS YOUR PLACE. If you go here and order a beer, ofc you won't be impressed as it's going to taste just like the beer you can get at the Deli and you will feel like you overpaid. TRY THEIR COCKTAILS !!! Also, please do not go expecting restaurant food, believe me; if it was known for their food it would be called ASCENT RESTAURANT not LOUNGE. The appetizers are so delicious ! The shrimp dumplings, chicken sliders, burger sliders, mac & cheese balls, pizza, omg everything was perfect ! The service literally makes the experience worth coming as well, everyone there are super polite, respectful & kind. MATIJA, DAYSI, DASHA, ELIAS, sorry if I cannot remember all the names but they're all wonderful. This is the perfect place to go for a nice after work outing, a date, a friend's reunion, etc. You will not feel rushed, you can sit, relax cand catch up peacefully without feeling like you must keep consuming to stay in the establishment. I cannot speak for private events as I have not yet planned one.
google avatar

Roger S.

Yelp
Best lounge in NYC hands down! It is the only place to be for incredible ambiance drinks and meeting people.
google avatar

Freeyah-Knycky C.

Yelp
I wanna like here so bad because the view is wonderful, the music made me shake my clappers and the venue is nice enough. However, staff except the toilet attendant (big up Ms. Jamaica) was super cold. Not cool, just cold. Really pretty looking ladies that fluttered around in their super sexy black dresses but never a smile. They stood by waiting to take your unfinished drink away hoping you'd order another. I felt like I was in an espionage film as they spoke in what looked like code to each other while they kept giving you little glances.... like what? Was I supposed to wear a black dress too? No one told me! The sexi stoic servers looked to be in heavy dispute with several patrons when it was their time to pay so **shrugs**, maybe it wasn't me. You know what? I'm here to dance so they won't spoil my fun and dance I did. Met some chica on the dancefloor and we tore it up! (Sorry hip and knee and all). I'd recommend here if you're with friends and want to let off some steam on the floor. Daiz it. Thanks DJ and Jamaican lady for saving Ascent Lounge! The End.

Yelp
Has potential but I'm sorry, for $30 a cocktail, please turn the AC on. We had to leave because it was too hot (about 80 degrees). Literally right outside the door in the mall it was 15 degrees cooler. We asked the waitress if they could lower it and she said someone else also complained and she will see what she could do. Nothing changed. No go on the bathroom attendants - it's 2022 - I've legit never met a person who goes into a bathroom and is like "oh good, a bathroom attendant!" Usually we're all just met with pounding anxiety because we have to tip them and nobody carries cash anymore.

Yelp
Excellent drinks, though pricey. Was looking for a casual late night drink during the week and was pleasantly surprised to find this place, ensconced on an upper floor next to my hotel. I had some type of spicy margarita that was well balanced. About four-five drinks in, $150 was a bit much, but delicious nonetheless.
google avatar

Teresa L.

Yelp
Came for a company's holiday party and I was impressed by the nice view of the Columbus Circle. Venue was spacious which can accommodate a few hundred people. Drinks were good. There were seating areas near the window and on both sides leaving the middle area open for some dancing. Not sure if the food was catered or provided by the venue. Steak was tender and salmon was fresh and tasty. Definitely a great place to come chill or host a party that will certainly impress. There are only two installs in the women restroom so there tends to be a line. I would recommend just going out to the mall to use the restroom.

Yelp
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Had a reservation but felt completely JUDGED the entire time. Waited a long time for anyone to even acknowledge us. Finally someone stopped by & we ordered drinks & 3 appetizers (they only have small plates). We also asked for water at the same time but that took a LOOOONNNNG time to come. Got our first round of drinks & all 3 apps at separate times and still NO WATER. I feel like we had to BEG for it. The servers are NOT friendly at all & hardly even spoke to us. Nobody checked on us to see how we were doing & the place was half empty especially for a Saturday night. They are very quick to clear your empty drinks & plates, almost like they can't wait for you to leave. Too bad since it is a nice atmosphere. Finally was able to order a second round of drinks even though I did not want to give this place any more of my money. They took my card at the beginning (like they didn't trust me) and then when they brought the bill they were waiting for me to put my card out. When they asked if I was using a card I had to tell them they had taken it at the beginning. I am normally a very generous tipper but when the machine starts at 22%, I chose "custom" and left 10% even though I didn't want to tip anything.

Yelp
Chill vibe when I went on a Thursday evening. There was no DJ at that hour, although I suspect the DJ is there on the weekends. The drinks were made with care, and the bartender was engaging. I would return.

Yelp
**so my partner been wanting to try this lounge. so he set up reservations one saturday night about 10pm. location is nice and scenery is cute city view. we dressed up (dress to impress). they had dj playing music. we came in and was quickly sat due to our reservation. nice mix of ppl of all ages. cocktails were strong and tastey. the food was eeeehhhh!!! very much a miss for me. didnt get excited about anything i was eating. we ordered the chicken squiers, mac balls and mini burgers. vibe in place is nice to lounge w/ friends and have cocktails with cute scenery/ view. id come back with friends for cocktails anf to let them get there experience of the place. but not a spot id be runnin to to get in. im a foodie so the food most definitely had to match then scenery and ora of ur restaurant. signed, i love to eat and i do it out consistently mr. von teese & date xoxox

Yelp
I want to like this place but haven't had good experiences and for some reasons we keep going back. Our server was rude both times that we sat in the lounge. cocktails are a bit pricy but unique. I like the lounge area but the bartenders have a better attitude than the waitresses/servers do. Tater tots are really good.
