What an adorable tea shop! I landed at Zhi Tea a couple of weeks ago when I was looking for an alternative to coffee. I was trying to get some work done at Medici nearby but upon entering the tea shop and encountering the friendly staff as well as the quiet space, I went back to grab my stuff and relocated myself to Zhi. Much better! The chaiwala was very attentive and she was able to recommend lots of teas. She was cheery and passionate. Zhi Tea has come a long way since its modest little shop in the original location I had visited a few years before! The teas we chose were excellent and the service was beyond perfect. Prices are also fair, affordable even considering the quality. I will definitely be back in the future. Very positive experience.

Went here on a whim while going to some of the shop nearby. They are located in Springdale General with lots of cool shops and HEAPS of parking (always a plus in Austin!) Upon entering you are greeted warmly and they have so many different teas they can show you. They are a tea house so there are some tables to sit and sip but also lots of tea to smell. The team was well versed in tea types and were able to guide me to a one they thought might be a good fit. There was also a hot tea sample too you could try at the counter! I got a cacao chai tea latte iced with some honey and oh my goodness I am obsessed now! The flavors were really nice and just what I needed! Great service and overall experience, 10/10 will be coming back!

Could not be more impressed with Zhi Tea. Both of the store managers are fantastic. I walked in today asking for morning, afternoon and evening tea options for specific health benefits. The level of knowledge provided to me was tremendous. I bought an Oolong Tea, ancient basil tea and a tea cup that separates the tea leaves from the water. The quality of product here is 10/10. They get their leaves from all over the world. My oolong tea is from Egypt, which I thought was unique. Great job to the folks here!

This place is a hidden gem! The owners here (i think husband and wife) are so nice and welcoming. The atmosphere here is so quiet and perfect for drinking afternoon tea. There are so many flavors here and walls of tea leaves where you get to smell the leaves and purchases from small sample packs to larger packs. Ive been back a few times and i think the tea flight is amazing here and you get to pick out 4 different teas to try. The prices here are also really really decent. I came with a friend and paid only like 7$ each for the tea flight and it was plenty for us. I also took home some tea leaves and ive been steeping them at home and its amazing. One of my favorites is the coconut assam!

Granted I haven't been to many tea places specifically in Austin, I drink a lot of tea from a lot of places and can easily say this place is one of the best. I came here at a friend's rec and found the place was everything she said. The staff are knowledgeable about the teas and very friendly. They have 1-2 teas of the day you can sample, plus dried leaves for all the teas that you can smell to help you make a choice. They do traditional teas as well as tea lattes and serve the teas hot or cold at your choice. they have a list of the most common favorites and my favorite is hands down the Violet Femme which is a black tea with Earl grey and lavender undertones (which has always been my favorite tea combo). They add milk at your choosing as well and I loved the Violet femme with a splash of oat milk. My close second and third are the plum oolong, and the vanilla rose (both with a splash of oat milk). They're both lightly floral with that undercurrent of sweetness (from plum/vanilla, respectively). The interior of this place is also warm and inviting and they had some tables if you want to sit and hang out there, or have tea served in traditional China/pots. I really like this place, overall my only qualm is there isn't another location further south!

I was in the area and wanted to check out the place. Instantly I was greeted with a complimentary sample of their tea of the week which was a masala chai. I'm not a huge fan of chai but found it to be delicate and warming. I figured I'd maybe get a cup of tea to-go but ended up staying to do a gong fu tea ceremony for one. I've never done it before but the person working was so informative and so helpful, it ended up being really fun and meditative to do by myself. I highly recommend trying it out or even grabbing a cup to go. A whole pot to myself was easily like 10+ mini cups

I didn't even know places like this existed. It's like a bar specifically for tea with the environment to match (you ever had a tea flight before?). When we walked in the store was empty and by the time we left an hour later it was full. I've never tried smelling the different teas before actually brewing them before, just the way the store was set up. Check the photos

Such a hidden gem! I tried a tea flight which is made for 2-4 people and it was so difficult to choose just 4 teas off their extensive menu. I definitely came in looking a little bit lost and who I think was the owner did not hesitate to help me at all! She was great. While the menu was well priced, be warned that the teas you can buy to take home are pretty expensive. Regardless, I couldn't resistance buying a few tins to try out :) It would have gotten one more star if there was more seating, the space wasn't all that conducive to the amount of people who want to hang out there. We were worried we'd have to leave and take a tea to go since it's not the place where tables quickly open up. Lots of people working, studying, and hanging out with friends!

I stopped by to check out the space, not intending to get anything, but after being greeted warmly by the employees and offered free tea samples, I decided to stay and see what they're about I'm not a huge tea drinker, but I've never seen a place with such an expansive tea menu. The employees here seem to really care and will happily educate you about the different types of teas they have. All around great vibes! I felt like I was at home

Awesome place for all things tea. The store is beautiful and the staff super friendly. They have good Covid protocols, wear masks, and stay socially distanced. I went there to get to see teas for my brother-in-law and ended up getting some for me too. They have all kinds of teas you can imagine from: green, black white, oolong, rooibos, and more. They offer them from small "sample" sizes up to a few pounds of it. I will go back once I finish the delicious Oolong and White teas I purchased.

I loved the vibe immediately as I entered. It smelled amazing and had so many options for tea! I wasn't sure what I would want but the server was very helpful with asking a few questions to narrow down choices and giving me helpful and delicious suggestions. The tea was very refreshing especially getting it iced and to-go for a hot day.

Best place!! The guy who owns this place is so knowledgeable and the tea is super yummy! He gave us some free snacks on the house, we really enjoyed our visit here!

Service is absolutely amazing. The girl working the counter is super helpful and had great knowledge of teas! The selection is crazy. The range really overwhelms me but it is ordered and categorized well. I had both the royal black and the silver needle tea. Both were fragrant and tasted very good. The pure teas are steeped very well and they did not need any alteration, but there is sugar, honey, syrup, etc if you need any. Flavored teas have just as good of a selection. Also, I find that this place is great if you want to buy any gifts for people that like tea! Loose leaf or exotic teas, as well as cupware, tea timers, etc are offered. I can find myself going here more and more.

Walked in to this lovely place for the first time this morning with a group of 3 other ladies. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, and it was quiet and clean. We were greeted by a woman who was extremely helpful and kind, while sampling their tea of the week, White Blueberry- DELICIOUS! Their selection of teas is impressive, having pure varieties as well as unique blends. Since there were so many to choose from, we decided to order a flight (4 teas of your choice). My personal favorite was the rooibos earl grey (highly recommend!). I would say the value of the flight ($8) was well worth it, as we had excellent service and a really nice environment to enjoy our teas in. I will certainly be back again! Perfect place to come by to catch up with a friend or to just zen out with a book.

Such a great shop to stop and have a pot of tea and relax with friends. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with making a selection. They also had us try the tea of the day. Cozy and inviting, would definitely recommend.

Just go. If you want to learn about tea, this is the place. It's apparent they live tea and understand it. I've learned so much coming here. Oolong is the best.

Zhi Tea is out here converting me into a tea drinker! Ordered a tea flight which is great to get if you're interested in trying multiple flavors (which you're going to want to do since there's a million options). It's definitely enough tea to serve 2-3 people well and comes with yummy roasted pecans! I also bought of the pre-packaged cookies, but other than that there's no other food offered. The shop is on the smaller side, but decent amount of sitting inside and a couple of tables outside. It's a very relaxing environment - great to catch up with people or work remotely (although there's only a few wall outlets from what I saw). Service was friendly and nice if you need recommendations. And there's plenty of parking available since Zhi Tea is located in a community of shops/places. Definitely will come back again!

Wonderful spot for tea and lunch. They have a wide selections of teas. The tea-rista (sorry. I made that word up) was very knowledgeable. We arrived as a group and enjoyed the warm and green outdoor area. Will definitely go back.

Came here to buy a Christmas gift for our grandparents. They had a wonderful selection of teas, and each shelf has little sample tins attached so that you can smell the teas. They sell all of their teas in a lot of different sizes - from sample pouches to pound bags. They have loose leaf and bagged teas plus a bunch of super cute tea pots and tea paraphernalia. In addition to the retail set up, there is a cute cafe area where you can enjoy a hot cuppa. They even had a basket of toys for kids! I liked the snack selection as well. Locally made stroopwafels and tea infused chocolates among other things. Bathroom was clean and plenty of parking.

Lovely lovely tea place to go and just relax in. Their teas are excellent, staff is very nice, and atmosphere is relaxed. Definitely going to be going here more.

Super safe during COVID. As I walked in, a gentleman helped me with a tea selection to take home. Found my favorite: Japanese green tea with roasted rice. In and out in 5 minutes, with very friendly staff. What more could you ask for?

As soon as you walk in you can smell all their delicious teas. I was immediately greeted as I walked in. Due to the current situation (pandemic) the gentleman there helped me picking teas and answering all questions. He was the one selecting the teas without me touching anything in the store. He was very knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. I was there to purchase a gift and he guided me through it all. I will definitely be back! Although he did mention you can also place online orders.

This place is amazing! The minute you walk in you are greeted by the delicious scent of whichever tea is brewing. The staff is super nice and attentive, and the tea is absolutely delicious! Definitely a great place to go and relax and enjoy the amazing teas!

Hooray! Just what I was searching for! : ) I kept finding bubble tea places, and Chinese food restaurants when what I really wanted when I searched for a "Tea Shop" or "Tea House" was a fantastic place like THIS! This is a wonderful tea shop with a huge selection of high quality loose leaf teas, that also serves brewed tea that you can stay and sip, or take to go! I love the way they have the shop set up, very easy to browse and a wall of loose leaf tea sample bags. I am so impressed by the amount of different Oolong teas they carry. Jana was really helpful and friendly and the shop is clean and lovely! Side note: Tea + stationery, it's right next door to the fantastic pen and paper paradise The Paper Craft Pantry!

My son and and his girlfriend have me a gift certificate to Zui Tea for Christmas. They specifically researched the Austin area for tea shops as they are currently living in Chicago and wanted me to enjoy something local. They know how much I love tea and wanted to make sure I would be happy with their choice. While they were visiting for the holidays they wanted to actually visit the shop with me. Today we stopped in...my first time to visit. I walked in and thought it was quite nice. They do have Qatar very nice selection of teas. I also loved the sample pouches. We spent a good 30 minutes checking things out. We made sure to smell the various teas and blends. I picked out a couple of tins and several sample pouches. I made sure to select enough items that would use up the gift certificate. When we went to check out they had no idea how to process the gift certificate and said they didn't know what to do. They advised me the owner was very particular payment and they would need to check with them before they could take the gift certificate. They didn't call or do anything to help me. They finally said I should just use it online. We left...without any tea. I was shocked at how unwilling the staff was to help me. They seemed lost and unwilling to try and help me out. Tonight I went online to use my gift certificate. One of the teas I had selected in the store was not even available online. AND now I have to pay shipping. This whole experience had been horrible. I can assure you if I had not have had a gift certificate where I was pretty much forced into purchasing something from Zhi, I would have gone elsewhere. When the tea comes in...I sure hope it wows me because nothing of this experience has come close to doing so yet. Tea may be their specialty but customer service is not.

I visited Zhi Tea for the first time today and the first thing I noticed was how fragrant and delicious it smelled inside! The building on the outside doesn't stand out as particularly noticeable, but the inside is quite cozy and the fragrance of the tea permeates every nook and cranny of the building. One thing I very much appreciated was that each tea had a sample tin you could smell prior to ordering a pot or purchasing any tea. The teas were all located to the right of the entrance and organized by type, which made finding my favorites very easy. Everything looked gorgeous, and there were even tea sets available to purchase in addition to the tea leaves and sachets. All in all, it was very clean and well organized as well as featuring my favorite thing in the world - TEA!! I ended up ordering a pot of the Raspberry Pecan, and sadly it just did not have the full-bodied flavor I was hoping it would. I was able to detect notes of the raspberry and pecan, but they were very faint hints of flavor. In addition, our tea timer was broken and that was a little bit of a nuisance as we kept waiting for the sand to run out until we realized it was stuck. Not a big deal, but the taste of my tea was a little disappointing because I do tend to like my teas to have strong flavor. The main reason I was not exactly enthused about my experience was actually the employee at the counter. It seemed as though he wanted nothing to do with us and although he was incredibly prompt and efficient about everything, he just didn't come across as particularly friendly. I'm not sure if he was having a rough day, but besides being greeted initially and him telling us when the teas would be ready, I don't think he said anything at all. As an empath, I was definitely aware of how it brought down not only our spirits, but also those of the other guests that came in while we were there. I'm not sure I will come here again to try more teas, but if I do, I hope the employees are a bit friendlier!

Zhi TEA!!!! I personally do not drink tea, BUT my boyfriend loves tea. I've been here so many times just for moral support for him, so I thought I'd write a review. This small little shop is adorable. Every time I walk in, I immediately get that mellow, chill, relaxed vibe. Kinda like how cats are just chill and mellow. It's nice. There are SO MANY options. So many options in fact, that my boyfriend needs a run down on everything every time we come here!!! But it always works out because the people that work here are SO sweet. There is this one chick that is petite framed with short hair that is always so helpful and patient with my boyfriend's questions. I love her, she's great. Also, last time, we got a free cup of their cold brew which again, I don't like tea but I still thought it was sweet of them to give us a cup FA FREE. You've got to check out their backyard/outdoor seating. They have a swing bench!!!!! It's so cute and peaceful. They also have a really cool painting of a dragon on the wall, I'll post a pic next time we go. I recommend going to this place if you're an avid tea drinker. They have a lot of options that seem to be stocked weekly!!! :)

I fell in love at first sip... Desert Blend is a smooth and silky Rooibos with a hint of cinnamon - it's slightly sweet on its own - I don't have the words to describe the aroma but the word Hygge came to mind I stayed at the Driskill and they proudly serve Zhi teas. Sadly, I wasn't able to go to the Zhi store to purchase but I will be ordering Desert Blend. It's my new favorite

I've been enjoying Zhi tea around Austin for quite some time, and the other day was about ready to order from their website. Then I decided why pay shipping when I can just go to their store? Today I finally made it (I'd tried once before after having breakfast at Eden East, which is a quarter mile away, but found that I was there before they opened). Great little shop. HUGE selection of tea. Staff is super knowledgeable about teas and can help you sort through what will work best for you. I'm really enjoying their Ginger and Lime Green Rooibos. If you like this tea, order fast, their stocks are running low. I'm glad that Austin has a company such as Zhi sourcing high grade teas and making them available in our community.

Amazing tea house. Very large tea selection with tins to smell each tea. A tea of the week to taste and a small indoor and outdoor sitting area. Super reasonably priced. Very practical nice tea set up. Had the pleasure of being served by Kenny Jones (ask to see his tea art). Kenny was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Thanks for outstanding service.

Zhi Tea is just "my [perfect] cup of tea." I vividly remember coming here for the fist time last year as I was finishing my last semester of college and wondering why I had waited so long to find such a place. Zhi Tea is one of the most charming and serene establishments that I have found in Austin to date. Everything from their wind chimes, to their wooden swings and picnic tables just seems like it could be a pop up from a fairytale short-story. Coming from a family of Kenyans who are heavy (and very, very, particular) tea drinkers, I can say that this place does a phenomenal job with their tea selection and leaves no stone unturned. I personally love the Turkish Spice Mint and the Sweet Texas Dreams. At Zhi Tea, you can find teas from all corners of the globe and when they bring out your tea, they present it beautifully with vintage looking tea pots on a tray alongside colorful hourglasses that let you know when your tea is done steeping. If you're in Austin go explore the wonderful world that is Zhi Tea - I promise it will not be a disappointment! 10/10 would highly recommend this place to others.

Omg I'm so glad I stumbled upon this cute tea shop! My uncle was visiting from California and wanted to pick up some loose tea to bring home. The man who was working (I'm so sorry i didn't catch your name!) offered us samples and was extremely knowledgeable about tea and was very patient with us. I'm Not familiar with tea prices, but my uncle is and he's mention their tea is priced pretty well. I'd definitely recommend this place to all my tea junkies.

Perfect place for an afternoon tea and to pick up supplies. So happy to see them taking so many health precautions. Edward was so awesome to work with my wife and daughter through so many different teas with expert understand of ingredients and helped match some to personality. Thank you so much Zhi, we will definitely be back when we are in town next.

I used to be a..gasp...Tazo tea or Lipton tea drinker (cringe) for most of my life....that is until I accidentally discovered Zhi tea. Oddly enough, my experience with Zhi tea was actually in North Carolina at a Marie Antoinette movie party at Alamo Drafthouse in Raleigh. The event was called Afternoon tea and they were playing the Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. The menu consisted of three tea choices and some tea sandwiches and mini eclairs. I went into the theater a sad, tea bag dust drinker not knowing my tea existence would be changed forever. 15 minutes into the movie, they brought out the first round of tea. Zhi's Sweet Texas Dreams. side note: I had lived in Texas up until I was 26 years old before eventually ending up in NC. When people ask me where I am from I am always conflicted and say Texas even though I have not lived there in years. I miss a lot of things about Texas-especially the food. If it is even Texas related I am all over that ish. So Sweet Texas Dreams was already my favorite tea before I even tried it. The tea was INCREDIBLE. I stopped and looked down on my tea like what magic is this? Is this liquid gold? Then they brought in Restless Blend...oh my gahhh...tiny little cherubs flew out of the tea cup and I transcended space and time....it was AHHmazing. The last tea was Ambrosia White Tea..so flavorful. As soon as I got home I looked up Zhi tea and saw they were based in Austin, TX. Did I mention my Texas obsession? These are my people. That explains why the tea is so good-its from Texas. Duh. I ordered a few teas and waited anxiously in the mail. When I opened the box, my beautiful Texas teas awaited me, and a dance party violently erupted in my apt. I am proud to say I am now an honorary member of the Zhi tea fandom. If you like baby angels, ascending to heaven, and David Bowie dance parties, this tea is for you. AND its Texas Tea.

This place is a gem. It's peaceful, smells great, and the tea is amazing. They just relocated to a sweet spot in Austin. I will definitely come back.

Outstanding teas and customer service! We've been ordering Zhi Tea from the website for awhile and decided to try the actual storefront. Kat helped us create two delicious flights and pick out presents for our tea loving friends. She listened to what we liked and made suggestions based on that. Every single one was delicious! We will definitely go back and continue ordering online. You can't go wrong with any of the teas, but the Kenyan Chai, Turkish Mint, Apple Cider, Restful Blend, Ginger Lime Rooibos, and Blood Orange are our favorites.

First time coming through and let me just say, this is such a wonderful little place. The atmosphere is wonderful, the worker that greeted us was friendly and very helpful and the tea! I honestly can't wait to drink what I bought. I will definitely come back for more soon!

Super sweet little tea house that knows their stuff and has all sorts of specialty teas and related (huge selection of non-dairy milks & sweeteners); easy to sit and work or talk for a bit inside; easy parking. Will return when nearby

The A-mazing: The tea!!! The tea is absolutely delicious, and for two people you can easily share a pitcher and enjoy some much needed tea time. My favorite was the cherry sencha. Honestly, the tea is the BEST thing here, and would be the only reason for my return. I also appreciate how you can get a sample or tin of the tea you purchase here, so you can bring home some tea goodness. The TEA-rrible service: Honestly, the customer service was one of the worst I've encountered. The gentleman seemed not to care, very unenthused, and when I would see a customer come to the counter they would wait at least 5 minutes or longer until he'd come out from the kitchen to acknowledge/help them. Most of the time, he was in the kitchen (the place was empty at the time except for our group and a few customers that would get tea to go), but I would assume the person would be outside in case there are customers coming in (which there were). I will say this, he knows how to make tea, so that's definitely a plus on his part. At first I asked if they could do the tea sampler (on the menu), he had stated no without a follow-up reason as to why they couldn't do it today. Then we looked at the menu and chose. During this time, I asked about the sweetners to use in the tea and he had stated, "We don't sweeten it here." Which was fine, but I was very confused when the sign literally says, "Pick your tea, pick your sweetner..." Later, I found out from my friend they had a tray of sweetner in the back which he failed to mention. Then between our group we purchased about 2 pitchers and used up the sweetner syrup between us which was about 6-8 glasses worth of tea. I asked if we could do a refill on the syrup and he stated, "No, you used it all." It just seemed a bit unprofessional (it was still early on in the day too). We ordered a few more teas and even gave a tip hoping it may boost some customer service mural (mind you this was after waiting another 5 minutes at the register in hopes he would come out of the kitchen, we ended up having to call out for help to grab his attention to bring him out to the open). Later, we ended up using the left over honey that was available to sweeten our new drinks. Once the honey was done (which there wasn't much to begin with) my friend went up and told him that it was empty as well and he said, "Thanks," and took the honey away behind the counter and left it there. As much as I'd like to blame it on another off day, I've gone through the reviews and it would seem this isn't the first time this has happened with customers :/

I've been a longtime customer for years. I love how knowledgeable their staff is about the various types of tea. My ab fab is their GABA Oolong. I do miss their old location & being able to have lunch there. The new location is very modern & lovely.

Now and then they will offer discounts on their tea selection, some of which I enjoy. My last visit I realized the discount wasn't applied and messaged them twice about the error. Zero response.

Very calming atmosphere. I ordered the matcha latte. It was amazing and served with warm pecans. They have an amazing selection. There's pictures of food on Yelp, but they no longer sell food.

5 stars in all areas! Great customer service. Great Tea Variety! Wonderful atmosphere! Great fresh food! I'll be back here frequently.

Great people, great environment. We had the cacao tea: it was okay but I wasn't blown away. Next time, I will try something else. Also, the new location is great.
