The Best Restaurants in New Orleans’s Algiers Point Neighborhood | Eater New Orleans

"This vegan cafe is downright awesome, with fresh ingredients, generous portions and salads that are a work of art. Try the “VegOut” house salad — spring lettuce loaded with seasonal veggies, in a generous portion that’s plenty for two. 2 Phat Vegans declares itself on a mission to bring healthier options to the community, without sacrificing a bit of flavor. The Sunday gumbo is proof enough." - Beth D’Addono

Google
2 Phat Vegans is one of the only restaurants in the area where we were able to find a blend of fresh food, like the amazing salad and smoothie we ordered, and delicious soul/ comfort food, like fried mushrooms and fried okra. Very kind and helpful staff, very hard working and went above and beyond to ensure we had what we needed!

Wonderful place. I follow them on Instagram, so I was very excited to eat here. It was closed when we arrived, as the owner had just left to buy more fresh bread. We were about to leave when he showed up and let us in. We had the hot sausage po boy and the tacos. So delicious. We licked the plate clean. Lol. Next time we are in NOLA, we'll be back for sure.

Google
Really happy I found this place. The vegetable salad was excellent and a great portion. I also really liked the fried mushrooms. Not greasy at all. The staff were very kind and apologetic about a bit of a wait. It’s hard to find plant-based food in the French Quarter, so this was terrific

Google
This is a great spot to get vegan food to go. The restaurant is very small (3 tables) and it gets quite smoky from the kitchen. The hot sausage sandwich is good. The jerk chicken wrap was good. The gumbo is great! I will go back a few more times while in town to try some of the other options. Its not a healthy place but is vegan and very tasty. Also, they have great desserts. You have to pay separately for them but they are soooo worth it!

Google
Great vegan restaurant with dine in and Takeaway, everything we had was delicious and I look forward to going back. The jerk vegan chicken is very spicy and flavorful, the vegetables on the sandwiches are super fresh and tasty overall excellent spot and I highly recommend you give it a try. The staff was very kind and helpful!

Google
We stopped by and had the hot sausages Po boy and hamburger.. my sister is not vegan and she couldn’t stop expressing how good the Po boy was.. then the strawberry sage and basil lemonade was the best combo ever. You can actually taste the sage and basil so refreshing…it was worth every dollar. The vibe is so welcoming. We are back in TN and I’m still thinking about that strawberry sage lemonade by Konscious Unicorn

Yummy I love the food here! Open so late and excellent service. I ordered deep fried okra and a pho bo. Both were delicious, definitely recommend!

Google
Delish! Had the fried mushrooms and a vegan sausage poboy with cheese. Friend had a smoothy that was like a piña colada without the alcohol. She loved it. Blow your mind good and huge portions. I got to enjoy the 2d half of my lunch for dinner. It was a good day.

Yelp
I've been to vegan restaurants from San Francisco to Atlanta to Manhattan to Chicago and I can confidently say that 2 Phat Vegans might very well be one of the top 3 places in America. The sausage po'boy was absolutely fantastic and HUGE. We ate a vegan hoagie that was $16 at a different place 3 days ago that was very tasty but tiny, so seeing this foot-long French bread sandwich (for $16.50), we were blown away. It was amazing. After the rutabega fondue at Vedge in Philadelphia, this is very possibly the second best vegan food I've ever had. The fried okra for $5 was a great deal, too, and came with a great dipping sauce. The jerk chicken wrap, which was griddled like a burrito, was unreal and not for the faint of heart, spice-wise. It was right up there with the sausage po'boy in flavor and texture. This is a must-have when in New Orleans and worth traveling for. A++ stuff.

Yelp
I'll get to the point and say that was the best Po'boy I've tried, vegan or otherwise. The mushrooms were breaded, fried, and so crisp. They have an option with plant sausage as well. I ordered a portion of gumbo to take away for later on, and that was a hit. The spices were incredible and I was happy with the portion sizes. It's a small restaurant, but fun inside, not to mention Air Conditioned! Right across the street from the French Market district, which is worth checking out. I really love that you can find vegan versions of popular new orleans dishes here, being able to enjoy the culture to the fullest.

Yelp
Cannot recommend this place enough. Gigantic portions to the point where I did finish my Po-boy but the okra was too much for me and my wife to finish. For $5 it was enough to feed at least 4 people in my opinion. The sandwich was enormous, my wife loved her burger and I am so glad we made this our last big meal in New Orleans. Eat and support local!

Yelp
We were really excited to try this place based off the reviews, but we were a little let down. We love vegan food and are so glad this is happening in New Orleans, but the vibe was really off at this spot. The cashier/server barely looked at or spoke to us, and then our food took 20 minutes to make. There were kids running around which is usually totally fine, but they were body slamming each other, screaming extremely loudly, and bumping into us at the table. It was also super super hot in the restaurant, and my po boy was not quite worth the price. Maybe they were having an off day, and we're rooting for 2 phat vegans! Maybe we'll circle back later down the line!

Yelp
So happy to add this new vegan spot to the French Quarter. Lots of wonderful options to choose from and non-vegans won't be disappointed in trying what they have to offer either. The hot sausage poboy dressed similar to a Big Mac. I will say it's not super fast but you can order online or via the phone in advance if you want things to go.

Yelp
Such a cute little place, and their hot sausage po' boy was amazing. Service was friendly and leisurely. Here's the thing. I don't know what was going on in there, but after a few minutes sitting and waiting for our sandwich, both my partner's and my eyes started to sting and tear up. We opted for not eating there because we were in a bit of pain. I wonder if it's the spice that they use that is somehow in the air and getting into our eyes....because the same stinging we felt in our eyes (not so good) we felt in our mouths (very good) when we ate the po' boy. We apparently weren't the only ones. We ran into another customer outside who was also dabbing at her eyes with a tissue, and she said that she "needed to let [her] eyeballs breathe." LOL. The bathroom is single stalled and has really cute posters in it!

Yelp
The food was good. I loved the atmosphere. We were in NOLA for a short time and tried to visit as many vegan restaurants as we could.

Yelp
Service = Awesome! Ambiance = Cool Island vibes! Food= Fresh! Well Prepared! Delicious! We dined in and enjoyed: A super delicious salad "VegOut"! "Bass Burger"! "Fried Eggplant "! "Fries"! So yummy!! We'll be back!

Yelp
Stumbled onto this place walking down Decatur, smaller space but still has a decent amount of indoor seating. The hot sausage po boy is my fav, very spicy and goood. The jerk chic'un wrap was also excellent, huge portions as well. Fav is prob the Bass Burger, special sauce gives it a Big Mac flavor. Service can be slow but the regulars don't seem to mind

Yelp
Family owned space and you can see the collaboration to prepare meals. I had the ChickN sandwich and it was so delicious! Loved to vibes on the walls of the space

Yelp
Walking in, you're immediately confronted by fantastic vibe of this place; it has board games, music videos, lovely art, and lots of photos. There was a bit of a wait to order as there was someone in line in front of us, and they seem to prefer taking one order at a time, but when they got to us, it was quick to order, and our food came out SUPER hot as soon as it was ready. We ordered the fried okra, spring rolls, and hot sausage poboy (no cheese). The fried okra and spring rolls came out PIPING hot. I've never had okra before, much less fried okra, and it was AMAZING. Flavorful, with a crunchy and well seasoned exterior, and they weren't slimy like their reputation would suggest. What a great first impression. On the other hand, I have spring rolls quite often, and these might've been the best I've had. The poboy was quite spicy, as advertised, and perhaps traditional, but really delicious nonetheless. As a vegetarian, I was grateful to get the opportunity to try one, and I'm really glad this was the poboy I had. If I could make one complaint, the napkin holder and condiments at most (if not all) tables needed refilling, but it was quite easy to ask for some. Thanks for the great bite! We will be returning.

Yelp
probably the worst service I've ever experienced anywhere. Waited for ten minutes for someone to arrive at the counter while another employee smoked outside and watched. A gentleman took our order then served two other people and arrived thirty minutes later asking what we wanted again. We left.

Yelp
Was looking for something I could eat all trip, and the food was amazing! The two owners were super nice as well. Great place!
