I’d see a few rave reviews of 2210 by NattyCanCook and I’m pleased to say this pan Caribbean restaurant delivered.
To start: The roti with scotch bonnet pepper was a revelation, the soft shell crab cooked to perfection and the curry chicken crispy bites piping hot with a pickled cabbage bringing extra zingy notes to the mellow curry reduction.
The Lux platter was immense, basically a jerk roast with lobster, lamb, steak, pork belly and the juiciest chicken (they’d run out of turkey wings but that’s usually included in the Christmas menu) with sides of mac n cheese balls, plantain, Yorkshires, tempura broccoli, honeyed carrots and fragrant perfect rice and peas. Oh and a generous portion of excellent scotch chimichurri roast potatoes.
My only gripe was we were given little side plates as opposed to normal sized dinner plates which seemed a little pointless making it difficult to get a bit of everything on our plates and we were told they were the only plates available when we asked for bigger!
There was one choice for dessert as they’d run out of apple and pear crumble. The sticky toffee pudding seemed more like a rum cake to me - moist but not much visible/excess sticky sauce - with what looked like candied chilli slices on top. It was delightful, regardless.
Even though we were stuffed we continued to admire the plates of whole fish and oxtail being served on other tables. We will definitely be going back. Utterly delicious and the restaurant and staff (shout out to the wonderful Cecilia) are a vibe.
I can confirm Natty Can most definitely Cook.
