New London Restaurants on Our Radar

"Opening in October, Nathaniel Mortley—better known as NattyCanCook—draws on training in top kitchens and a renewed love of cooking found at HMP Brixton’s inmate-run restaurant The Clink to put a refined spin on Caribbean favourites at 2210; expect hand-rolled roti with Scotch bonnet butter and jerk chicken supreme with mango and pineapple salsa." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

2210 by NattyCanCook - Review - Herne Hill - London - The Infatuation

"NathanielMortley a.k.a. NattyCanCook has built a cult following on Instagram and TikTok and, after successful pop-ups, the south London chef is opening his first bricks-and-mortar restaurant in Herne Hill. A scroll through his feed will give you an idea of what modernCaribbeancooking is to come, be it a ballotine of jerk chicken with a hard dough bread crouton, or aSunday roastwith rice and peas-filled yorkshires." - Jake Missing

I’d see a few rave reviews of 2210 by NattyCanCook and I’m pleased to say this pan Caribbean restaurant delivered. To start: The roti with scotch bonnet pepper was a revelation, the soft shell crab cooked to perfection and the curry chicken crispy bites piping hot with a pickled cabbage bringing extra zingy notes to the mellow curry reduction. The Lux platter was immense, basically a jerk roast with lobster, lamb, steak, pork belly and the juiciest chicken (they’d run out of turkey wings but that’s usually included in the Christmas menu) with sides of mac n cheese balls, plantain, Yorkshires, tempura broccoli, honeyed carrots and fragrant perfect rice and peas. Oh and a generous portion of excellent scotch chimichurri roast potatoes. My only gripe was we were given little side plates as opposed to normal sized dinner plates which seemed a little pointless making it difficult to get a bit of everything on our plates and we were told they were the only plates available when we asked for bigger! There was one choice for dessert as they’d run out of apple and pear crumble. The sticky toffee pudding seemed more like a rum cake to me - moist but not much visible/excess sticky sauce - with what looked like candied chilli slices on top. It was delightful, regardless. Even though we were stuffed we continued to admire the plates of whole fish and oxtail being served on other tables. We will definitely be going back. Utterly delicious and the restaurant and staff (shout out to the wonderful Cecilia) are a vibe. I can confirm Natty Can most definitely Cook.

I went to 2210 by Natty Can Cook and enjoyed every single minute. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff were so attentive — you really feel looked after from the moment you walk in. The food was insane in the best way. Four of us shared the roast and it was so good it was gone in 17 minutes — that should tell you everything! We also had the plantain cake and toffee dessert, which was moist, flavourful, and delicate. A perfect finish. Such a great experience of fine dining Caribbean food. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
Recommended by a friend and I had also seen an article in the Guardian, 5 star reviews! The presentation of the food was different, quirky. The turkey main course was plentiful. Decent cocktails. Attentive service. I will go back to sample other dishes. Nice and plush decor, I can imagine a beautiful setting for an evening meal.

From the moment you enter, the atmosphere is intentionally set with curated music, an inviting energy, and a genuinely attentive staff. Reservations are strongly recommended, as the restaurant's growing popularity is well deserved. The dishes produced by this compact kitchen team are executed with precision and confidence, reflecting a thoughtful approach to both flavor and presentation. It is clear that 2210 Restaurant is positioned for a very promising future. I had the opportunity to meet Natty during our visit, and he was both humble and approachable. Keep cooking, Natty-you are a trendsetter in the current culinary landscape.

Having visited for some excellent cocktails last week we were excited for dinner at 2210 by nattycancook. We were not disappointed! The scotch bonnet butter roti was so moreish along with the ackee saltfish spring roll our starters were deliciously different. My partner had the jerk chicken & said it was the best he’d tasted, unctuous and served with inventive taste combinations. The salt-baked celeriac was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. Every element provided contrasting texture and flavours. As a vegetarian I didn’t feel it was second best to the meat and fish options. The dishes are rich and filling - next time we’ll skip starters to leave room for desert. Overall it was a great dining experience; the room was buzzing, the service was attentive and the dark and stormy was a great cocktail. My only plea would be to add another vegetarian choice - there’s a lot of us about! Be very proud of what’s been achieved at 2210. We’ll definitely be returning

Visited this truly lovely restaurant today for one of my best friend’s birthday and was very impressed with the ambiance, staff (especially Mel, she was so lovely and professional) & the amazing food and drinks. This place is 10 10. Faultless. Find dining on a very next level and everything from starter main to dessert was DELICIOUS. Will most definitely visit again, too good a place not to. Thank you to Natty and his team. Today was lovely xx

A fantastic dining experience! Everything from the atmosphere, to the service, to the food and drink was lovely. Our standout dish was probably the jerk chicken, but everything was done really well and full of flavour. Chef Natty is brilliant and clearly cares a lot about his new restaurant. Special shoutout to our server Chantelle for being extra fab and very knowledgeable about the menu and wines! 🫶

Exceptional Dining Experience at 2210 – NattyCanCook From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, setting the tone for an incredible evening. We tried a range of dishes, and not a single one disappointed. The ackee and saltfish spring rolls, the roti, and the jerk chicken — chef’s kiss — were bursting with flavour and perfectly seasoned. The cocktails were equally delightful and complemented the meal beautifully. I would 100% recommend dining at 2210 – it’s an experience you don’t want to miss!
