The 37 Best Restaurants in Milan

"Open for: Dinner  Price range: $$$ 28 Posti is a respite from the young crowds that gather on the cobblestones outside bars along the canals in Navigli. Owner Silvia Orazi’s mother welcomes guests to the small restaurant, with a delightful interior that allows the modern food and natural wines to shine. Meanwhile, chef duo Andrea Zazzara and Franco Salvatore work in the windowed kitchen in full view. Select a tasting menu of three, five, eight, or 10 dishes. Or go a la carte with wacky yet seamless plates like guinea fowl breast with milk, honey, offal ragu, chocolate gelato, radish, kefir, and tarragon. Know before you go: Vegetarians will not be disappointed if they give the restaurant advance notice." - Elizabeth De Filippo-Jones

The 12 Best Restaurants In Milan 2024

"A stroll along the Naviglio Grande canal in Milan is a must, and 28 Posti is our favorite restaurant in the area. It’s a welcomed escape in the evening when the young bar crowd starts to multiply—step inside to be reminded that you’re in the European city of design. Earthtones, wood, pendant lamps, and micro-perforated sheet metal provide a Milanese casual glamor that matches the clientele. Pass over the a la carte menu for the surprise tastings, which are available in a range of three to ten plates. The owners founded one of Milan’s natural wine festivals, and the list will satisfy the most passionate skin-contact fans. For vegetarians, they’re happy to do a vegetable tasting with advanced notice, which is spectacular in both technique and imagination." - elizabeth de filippo jones

28 Posti

"The main focus of 28 Posti is its ethical stance, with seasonal ingredients sourced from small producers and an emphasis on making the most of each and every ingredient in order to keep food waste to a minimum – a philosophy that has been important to the restaurant for many years now. New chefs Franco Salvatore and Andrea Zazzara, both from the Abruzzi, have brought their own personal touches to cuisine which has its roots in the rich gastronomic traditions of central Italy and their native region." - Michelin Inspector

Google
Great casual spot for some contemporary Italian cuisine. Liked most of the dishes and would definitely suggest trying this place. But some of the sauces were a bit too acidic and overpowering for my taste. Service was amazing and loved the wine they recommended as well

Google
It’s a contemporary restaurant. If you’re expecting traditional Italian food, this isn’t for you. The staff was great. They were very helpful when I had a hard time downloading the menu. I had a three course surprise tasting menu. Though the eggplants tasted great, they don’t look pretty. 😅 The pasta was cooked in fish broth and tastes great. The lamb was tasty and came with many side dishes as you can see in the picture. Cafe Americano came as espresso with a pot of water.

We had a tasting menu of 5 dishes and then 2 desserts. Every dish, every bite was incredibly delicious! Everything was amazing! The best culinary experience we had in Milan! Highly recommended place with outstanding service and warm atmosphere!

What an amazing culinary experience in Milan! We were seated right next to the window and saw the Chefs in action. The food exceptional in an intimate setting. Would definitely go back when in Milan!

"Outstanding experience! The brand's story, the chef's inspiration, and their ethos truly shine through. We were captivated by the inventive use of sour and tart flavors. The five-course meal was delightful, and the biodynamic wine paired perfectly. Highly recommended!

28 Posti was recommended to me by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. We did not have a reservation but the staff sat us and took great care of us. The food was delicious and the wine recommended by the Som was spectacular. Highly recommended.

Google
This is a wonderful restaurant! The food was amazing! We had the 8 course dinner and it was everything I hoped for. There was a great assortment of dishes as you progressed through the courses, from the amuse bouch through to the desert. I would guess they change the tasting menu regularly. If I could have given them more than 5 stars I would. If you love fine dining and love tasting menus to try new things I could not recommend this place enough. The staff was also wonderful, they did a wonderful job of making sure we had a wonderful night.

Yelp
Lovely meal. Rustic decor, warm and soft light ― perfect for a friend-catch-up or a date alike . I loved the prominent display of local artists. They were accommodating with my dairy allergy, though it was only possible to order the 5 course tasting (which was more than enough with the wine pairing). Delicious fresh-baked bread and breadsticks- notable olive oil accompaniment too! When we asked to speed up the dishes because we were headed to a dance show afterwards, the staff was happy to oblige. Great service!

Yelp
Really great meal here but dinged a star for a few reasons. First, we were in Milan with a big group for friends for a wedding. Three people had made a lunch reservation for a random Saturday in September for lunch for 1:30pm. I emailed them a few days in advance and requested a table for two so we could join them (if not at the same table, than at least enjoy a Michelin starred lunch before the wedding). Weirdly enough, they emailed back and said they have absolutely no availability. Our friends then called and asked if they could change their three person res to five, to which the hostess said OK. Once we got to the restaurant, it was COMPLETELY EMPTY. Not sure why they said earlier we couldn't make a res but FYI- call if you can! Seems to help. FOOD: the five course lunch menu was spectacular. Each plate was beautiful plated and paired with white/red/orange (natural) wine. So good. The one dish I didn't love was the peanut sauce pasta. The peanut sauce was really good but very overpowering / completely took over the dish in a not so pleasant way after a few bites. SERVICE: service was prompt and attentive. Our waitress and somm were both great and knowledgeable with their recommendations and their pairings. VERDICT: this place is definitely worth a visit if you're in Milan looking for a delicious meal! We sat outside for lunch in the little alleyway area and it was really nice and casual for a great lunch (or dinner). five course tasting menu

Yelp
Wanted to try this place based on reviews that praised the creativity, inventiveness, etc. Really gave them every chance but had a terrible experience. The woman who guards the door started things badly by ignoring our greetings and demanding our name. She denied that we'd requested an outdoor table and promised to move us to one if we'd sit inside; she totally forgot about us after that. Ambiance of the restaurant is poor -- uncomfortable chairs, dirty floor, filthy bathroom with dirty knob for the faucet and dirty hand towels. Servers were trying to explain things but really the food is incomprehensible -- they can cite the ingredients but not what anything will be or taste like. Sommelier was trying hard but absolutely did not listen -- we asked for a white wine with some fruit and sweetness and were served a bone-dry frizzante that was a very bad companion to the courses served. Will not go into details of every "dish" except to say that there is a reason why some recipes are classics: they work. To see fine ingredients such as a lovely oyster covered in some sort of spoiled, over-spiced mayonnaise is both disgusting and a disservice to a wonderful fruit of the sea. To take fine pasta and cover it in tasteless green cream and throw in raw seafood is a sin against the produce. Every single dish had some revolting ingredient such as burnt onion powder or burnt eggplant powder that entirely overpowered all the other flavors and clashed with the good ones. We so wanted to be able to enjoy something....From the amuse bouches to the weird "dessert" items, nothing tasted good, had nice texture, or was satisfying. They make a nice boule loaf and serve it hot -- that's all we can say that is positive. They aren't even making a minimum effort to take COVID precautions....The one solid favor a server did for us was to steer us toward the small tasting menu and away from the larger ones. Thus our bill was merely expensive for such a poor and inedible meal, rather than outrageously costly. I gave our second untouched pasta away to a homeless man as we made our way home. At least the meal wasn't a total waste in that respect. None of our fellow patrons seemed happy -- a more morose crew I have rarely seen in Italy. We cut our visit short and went out in search of decent food -- I guess they kept waiting for the emperor's new clothes to arrive. A shameful deception....

Yelp
This review comes a month later, as I had to digest the wonderful experience here and try to formulate the loveliness of the restaurant into words. (Plus, the 28 Posti website isn't working so I can't recall the exact names of the dishes we had.) By random chance, we chose to sit down at 28 Posti. My friend wanted to dine closer to the Navigli, but I wanted respite from all those darn mosquitoes (side note: wear pants when you visit Navigli, especially if you are prone to mosquito bites - I got over 10 over the course of the night, and had to visit the pharmacy the next morning!). We chose to order a la carte instead of choosing the course offerings. The kitchen was very gracious to offer appetizer and dessert on the house. The appetizer was so beautiful, with what looked like orange roe in an oyster shell, caramelized sugar with a smoky mousse inside, and a basil mousse in a cone. The chef accomplished the rare feat of rendering the appetizers even more delicious than how beautiful it looks. For dessert, we were served macarons with smoked trout filling (or some fish similar to trout). Absolutely delectable! Such a simple concept, too. Everyone loves salty and sweet together, so why not try it with macarons? Our main courses, the names of which I cannot remember, were delicious as well. We both had an angel hair-esque pasta dish that seemed to have a sardine sauce and was excellent. For secondi, I had the charred shrimp. The charred shrimp wasn't stellar, as there was barely any meat, but I appreciated the flavors of the little meat that was on my plate. 28 Posti also has a sommelier so make sure to get wine recommendations!

Yelp
A culinary delight. Entirely different from the touristy pizza places that surround it - this was an extraordinary 3-course lunch tasting menu (turnip pasta, turbot cooked four ways, ricotta with apple and pumpkin ice cream). All with fresh sourdough and several between-course tasting treats. This is world class food, and at the price - €80 for lunch for two with wine, water, and coffee - a steal.
