Absolutely phenomenal food with wonderful service. Tasha was very lovely and provided great recommendations(catfish & red snapper). The XL family pack is massive and can easily feed 5 people - incredible value for the quality of food you get. Highly recommend the collard greens and mac & cheese. All their sauces are perfect combinations for the food. Can't wait to go back!

I knew I was coming for some soul food, but i didn't know it was gonna be FRESH! I am so glad I stumbled by this black owned business and love the idea of second chances! Now let me tell you about this poboi! Yummy 😋. All I kept saying while eating was "this is good." I ordered fish too, but I haven't tasted it yet I will be returning, I'm sure! I drove from Fontana to get this mac n cheese!

Surprise Tasty on a Surprise Visit!!! (Nice Area LOCATION Fish Fry) Almost Forgot to take some snaps before Eating! I have an Inkling for Southern Fried Fish from Time to Time. The fish was crispy yet moist, with seasoning that is moderate, not over powering. Tartar sauce is Light. I love that they serve Hot Sauce!!! The Sweet Potatoes are really DELICIOUS, sweetened perfectly, with a nice after taste, the COLLARD GREENS are really Savory too! I roamed dozens of fish fry's via Online Vibe and Reviews, & this Place Called to ME!!! Maybe it was the 2ND CHANCE??? The Owner/Staff/Cook was super Kind with a Southern Gentleman Flaire. OVERALL Recommended & Would Return

GREAT EXPERIENCE! FRESH FOOD! I finally had an opportunity to try the soul food restaurant " 2nd Chance Soul Food Fish Fry," located in Inglewood,CA. I actually heard of this restaurant through "LA Infatuation an Online Restaurant/Events Magazine," I subscribe to and decided to check it out. I was not disappointed! The food served was very fresh, lightly seasoned and true to the slogan " Where The Food Is Great and The Plates Are On Swole!" The serving sizes were definitely swole and heaping. I ordered two meals to try out the cooking - Catfish Filet Lunch w/ Homemade Mac & Cheese, Cornbread and I order Collard Greens. Everything was delicious and fresh; as well the Collard Greens were seasoned well. My other order was Chicken Wings which were cooked perfectly and moist inside. All items ordered are made to order, which mean fresh and hot food to go. I would most certainly recommend this restaurant to all; especially with it being a " Black-Owned," restaurant which I mostly certainly support. Additionally, I enjoyed reading about the orgins of the restaurant, hence the name " 2nd Chances." The location offers plenty of parking, so when you have a moment, are traveling in the Inglewood community or just want to enjoy some fresh soulfood stop by there and order; the staff is very friendly! I will most certainly return; I have to try the Red Velvet Cake for sure!

It was really good that’s all I have to say I got the catfish four pieces with the shrimp mac & cheese, and greens and I enjoyed it. Everything was flavorful and this is my second time having it and I have no complaints.

Today was my first day having tried their fish and it was delicious. I had the five piece red snapper, greens, yams and cornbread. Everything was well seasoned and fresh. The ladies went above and beyond and included the drink that no longer comes with the meal. Thanks Ladies...

Food hospitality was great, just wish it was a sit down spot, I drove from Long Beach and it was worth it. It was unexpectedly hot and they even offered me some water for free.

Craving fried fish! The service was good. I ordered the fish sandwich with fried Red Snapper and 5 pieces of fried shrimp. The presentation was neat and not sloppy. The shrimps were seasoned to perfection and so was the sandwich. The bread on the sandwich seemed to be grilled which was a great touch! I will be back to indulge in a full fish n shrimp plate, maybe eeeem some wings! 7/10

Let me start by saying I wanted this place to be good non the less I did not even receive the chance to try it upon arrival the neon sign said open I walked in, stood for 15 minutes without being greeted by a single soul. There were five other patrons waiting for their orders to be cooked. I assume an older gentleman appeared from the back and then looked at me with a astonished puzzle look and said oh we're closed so I said the sign says his response was oh I don't know we closed. I'm done then this man has been standing here for about 15 to 20 minutes prior to the closing time. He then stated oh I don't know, but we're closed. I'm done for the second time. It is a very small waiting room with about five barstools for you to sit at I will say they do have nice oldies playing is you're standing waiting I had no problem with the parking the lot is relatively large

I really wanted to love this place but it didn't hit for me. After seeing them on social media and reading decent yelp reviews I had high hopes for the food but it was a total disappointment. Had the catfish dinner plate with Mac and cheese and green beans and everything was meh. The catfish was soft on the outside and mushy on the inside like it wasn't cooked throughout. The Mac and cheese tasted like some baked velveeta and the greens tasted like they were straight from a can. Usually I say try something twice but this was so bad that I wouldn't.

The fried catfish and fried shrimp are absolutely delicious! I'm not sure what the batter is for the shrimp but it's so good. Cornbread is also delicious.

Food was good, and I can't really complain about the overall taste. I would have preferred some cruncher fish in my sandwich because that is how I like mine. My family enjoyed their shrimp sandwiches, too. The service was great, and the timing that was given was right on time. It took about 15 -20 minutes for me to get three sandwich combos. When I walked in, the ambiance was nice, as they had some R&B music playing, and the woman behind the counter greeted me and was patient while I got my orders together. They no longer sell tilapia, so I had to call home to get a revised order.

Solid...this spot was recommended by family & I had the opportunity to stop in...the lady behind the counter was Great...friendly & welcoming...I had the Catfish & Shrimp Lunch special...ate too fast to take pictures...the Catfish was superb...if you are in the area give them a try...my only knock is the ventilation was a little shaky & by the time my order was ready my eyes were running, but I still enjoyed my experience

Enjoyed my fish it was perfectly seasoned. I asked for crispy, and it was perfect. Great customer service. I will continue to support them, and l appreciate them giving people a 2nd chance. I hope other businesses follow their lead.

$50 plate of food 1st the idea behind it is kool they employ ppl may have been incarcerated and give them jobs which is why I went there and shop it from jump.....BUTTTTT Next time I will get a soda or something. The food man was a NOOOOOO. the shrimp was the best part and they were dried out the Mac and cheese was a surprise and so was the yams I think they must have used syrup instead of sugar the Mac I'm still trying to figure out. Now the fist I got was catfish but I can't tell you because the batter was not really fish batter it had a cinnamon flavor to yet (YES IT DID) but hey don't listen to me go try it. All I KNOW WAS I COULD NOT EAT IT and ended up throwing it out and buying food from another spot that sell dinners on Sunday which is why my total for today came upto $50. So I didn't care for it but everyone taste is different and for the Instagrammer who posted it LIED but still support the. If you don't do nothing but get a dessert. I don't need a response but other ppl should know before they try get a small plate, dessert or soda.

Amazing food, i ordered two fish dinners. Mac and cheese, yams , greens and potato salad was so delicioussssss.... the cheff that cooked today deserves a Raise in his paycheck

Had a fried Oyster/Shrimp/Fish sampler plate and a couple of sides delivered by Uber Eats. The potato salad was SUPER SUPER DELICIOUS!!! Also this is one of the few fish fry places I've found where you can get macaroni and cheese as a side, and the mac n' cheese was also very good. My only complaint was that the breading on the seafood was seasoned way too hot and spicy for my taste.

The food is not good here. Got a catfish and shrimp plate with macaroni and it was disgusting, I threw it out. Fish was so greasy with no crisp in sight and the macaroni tasted like it was made with kraft singles and velveeta. We also got onion rings which were surprisingly crispy but bland. Would not recommend or revisit this place unfortunately.

The food is good, service is slow (had to wait 1 hour 15 minutes), enough parking right out front, they have a good variety of fish, fresh cut fries (sometimes). I hear they will be serving soul food soon; after having the fish and sides I think the soul food is going to be really good, I just hope they get the wait time down. What I've had so far: Catfish steaks - small but good Swai- nice size pieces and good Greens- so good!! A must try, you get a good size side Cole slaw- good and they give you a lot Mac and cheese - good Cornbread- it was ok but don't take my word for it, I don't really eat cornbread Hush puppies- were a little too over cooked

I was very excited to try this place because I had heard great things. Overall the fried fish was cool (good not great) but I wasn't 100% happy about the fact that online and on the restaurant's door it said they open at 11am but the staff inside said they open at noon and it needed to be changed online. I also didn't like that I ordered a lunch meal that says it comes with "one small side", the same lady said that that side could only be fries. I explained to her that one of the lunch combos came with fries and the other one I ordered specifically said it "included one small side" so there should be a difference. She wasn't trying to hear that and said the register settings wouldn't allow me to get anything but fries. Overall I think that once the folks in the register are clear with with the menu says and stop making small mistakes, this fish market would be a place I'd visit again. As of right now, I can wait a while for them to get it together.

This Spot is on point This was the Best Fried Fish I've had in a while! I got the Red Snapper and the Catfish filet dinners they were YUMMY! The fish had a cajun seasoning on it that was delicious. The french fries, coleslaw and hush puppies were also good! First time trying this place, I'll be BACK

Tried this new fish spot for the 1st time, and I would like to say everything was "Spot On" I ordered a Family meal for my family and we all enjoyed everything, the flavors were good and the sides are home-made(real Mac & Cheese ). Very personable staff. One of the owners, Dion was really explicable about the business and about giving second chances to those in need of a second chance. All in All this fish place is a Win. The food was simply delicious wholesome and flavorful. The restaurant was clean, smelled good and food was made fresh to order. I ordered greens, yams, San-dab, side of shrimp and corn bread. Home made flavor through and through, (without all the grease). Enjoyed the staff, and their friendly and helpful service. A1 all the way round. What particularly stood out was the absence of the dead fish smell. This indeed was an experience that took me back to a place and time of old.

Very professional team loved the woman who took the order she welcomed each person as they walked in, kindly Took each of our orders and gave us a buzzer for be alerted when the order was ready..the gentlemen handing out the pick up orders was great also very fried to and kind. The atmosphere is nice..it's a fish market yet it didn't have that sticky fishy smell, super impressed by that..the back looked clean and tools looked on order..little heavy on the seasoning but very good fish and jumbo shrimp, next time I'll ask for lite seasoning. Mac n cheese was good and so was the potato salad all good portions e rough for two meals..

I got the fish/shrimp combo with mac and yams Fish: cooked well. Stood up to being delivered. Could have used a bit more seasoning. Not bad tho. Shrimp: cooked and seasoned well. Best thing in the combo Mac: not a fan. Tasted like velveeta. I know people who like velveeta mac but I like real cheese. Yams: just ok. Slightly undercooked but the taste wasn't horrible. Its a matter of preference really. If you like yams with a more white sugar taste then you'll like these. But if you grew up with yams with brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, other warm spices taste then you might not like these Cornbread: good. Fluffy and slightly sweet. Added some butter and it was on point Nicely packaged for delivery. Provided cocktail sauce for the shrimp. That was a big plus for me because I love cocktail sauce. I gave it 3 stars but it was more like 3.5.

First time coming here, because my normal spot is closed and was craving some good fried fish. Found this place on Yelp and they had great reviews. Not only is the fish good, but what they stand for is even more amazing than the food, giving people a 2nd chance. If we could all be so giving as this organization, our community would be stronger than ever!

I just ordered from them through DoorDash, and it exceeded my expectations- my food even arrived hot to the Marina! I ordered a shrimp poboy, 5pc shrimp only, and potato salad- all very flavorful (no need for the hot sauce). I do wish they will add red beans and rice to their menu. Other than that, I will definitely order again through DoorDash.

Food is PHENOMENAL. My only issue is the long waits. I've been there 4 times now and each time, even when placing an order ahead of time and wait 20 min to drive over, I'm still waiting for 15+ min. It's unfortunate because it does deter me from eating here even when I'm craving it.

I like what they stand for. So definitely wanted to give them a try. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with my order. The batter didn't seem to stick on the fish., so it wasn't crispy. Not sure if that's the standard. But they did have customers there who appeared to be regulars. Could have just been a one off.

They call it 2nd chance because they SUCK at first impressions. 2 stars simply for the hush puppies and the hush puppies only. Those were fire. But everything else... We ordered the jumbo shrimp plate, the wings and the catfish plate. Mac and cheese. Green beans. Potato salad. The jumbo shrimp are medium. Like the $7.99/lb medium. They probably didn't start out that size but they fried them so hard, I assumed they shriveled under pressure. The chicken wings were cool, mid. The catfish tastes like sink water. Inedible. The Mac and cheese is seasoned BOX Mac and cheese. Mid. The green beans were straight out the can. No seasoning. No onions. No bell peppers. And the potato salad wanted to be soup so bad. Soupy potato salad. But the hush puppies are the honorable mention here because they were some of the best I ever had. I will say I ordered delivery through DoorDash and they were close to closing. So maybe we got the bottom of the barrel. Either way, 2 stars.

It's decent. I got red snapper and shrimp combo with Mac & cheese and yams. The fish was cool, the shrimp was a little too salty for me, Mac and yams were okay. The place was clean with fast service, nice portions and serves a great cause.

I got the 10 shrimp and 4 piece fish dinner $25, positive the yams were good. Mac wasn't cheesy, cornbread taste regular box. The fish/shrimp looked more seasoned than taste. Tartar sauce taste like mayonnaise. They didn't have a lot of items on the menu. Also look as if the use the same utensil from the greens to scoop my Mac. The host was nice.

Gave this place a try since I was new to the neighborhood and rode by and saw that they had you buy we fry fish plates. Best catfish I've had outside of Mississippi! The catfish was sweet and flavorful, the portions were plentiful and I got to eat off my combo for 2 days - ordered fish and chicken wings. The seasoning was perfect. Cooked to order and cooked with love. The wait wasn't long, no frills ambiance. Parking was ample. Highly recommend Second Chance soul food fish fry.

I don't know what happened that anyone needs a second chance, but I forgive them! There's so many soul food restaurants that aren't hungry to feed their customers what they want. They're always out - don't have it - can't do it. This is now my go-to. Thank you guys so much for what you do - and keep on doin' it! That mac, though... Those greens, though. Umm, um... um, um, um... Girl Child! They buttered the cornbread. Get outta town!!! Stop it!!!!

Service Food quality Food quantity Ambiance 1 st time customer and I ordered the dinner combo (5 pieces of fish and 10 shrimp) and dinner plate (5 pieces of fish). Price was great for the portion size I recieved. Both came with 2 sides (we ordered mac and cheese x2, greens and fries), choice of cornbread or hush puppies. Let me just let you all know.... I HAD TO SLOW DOWN WHILE EATING THIS AMAZING MEAL! I'm saving 2 pieces of my cornbread for some red beans I cooked and put in the freezer for tomorrow...freaking mouth watering. Btw...I had a total of 4 pieces of cornbread (took my daughters). The Mac and cheese...exactly the way I like it...not greassssy. The greens....fresh and tasty. Now onto the fish and shrimp...juicy and cooked to perfection with great seasoning. Presentation great, not messy, and written very clear on the outside of the packaging what was in it and that it was my order. Oh...oh....the tartar sauce ...mmmm good! On the "Eye on Inglewood FB page, they highlighted a new black owned business "2nd Chance Soul Food Fish Fry" on Centinela off of LaBrea... Since I never pass up an opportunity to support a black owned business, I had to give it a try! Here is my honest assessment: Strengths: 1) Their business plan - They employ reformed felons who spent years in prison (Hence the name..2nd Chance) 2) The staff is pleasant (the lady who takes the orders is a gem who was extremely apologetic and accommodating) 3) The lobby is very clean 4) Food is pretty good (Loved the collard greens) 5) Prices are competitive ($13-18/per plate) Areas for Improvement: 1) Time management (They opened 15 minutes late & it took approximately 45 minutes for my 5 orders even though only 1 guest was ahead of me) 2) Preparation (Even after being open for over an hour, the cornbread was still in the oven) 3) Communication (The lady taking the order had no clue there wasn't any cornbread) 4) Media campaign (Online it says they were out of shrimp, but when I asked I was told they have shrimp & that they have to update the website) Takeaway: I believe they are on to something good & they have all the right pieces for a successful business... they just need an experienced manager who can ensure the daily business operations flow better. Because of their business model, I will support them again... In other words... I will give them a 2nd Chance

I haven't eaten anything yet. Just here waiting for the food, but I was impressed by the friendly yet professional customers' service here! So I'm giving it a 5 star. I'll add to my review after I eat the food. (Ps: It's really clean inside too!)

The portion sizes were good and that's about it. I ordered orange roughy with greens and macaroni and cheese. And a side of shrimp. Where do I start. The medium side fried shrimp was rubbery and overcooked. The orange roughy was undercooked and not flakey. I had to put it in the oven to finish cooking. The Mac n cheese was more like macaroni salad with cheese on it, and it was spicy. Why don't these so-called soul food places make traditional Mac n cheese? It perplexes me. The greens were not done right. The leaves were not broken down properly, and still had stems. The flavor was bland. I really tried to like this place but there were so many missteps. It's like they tried to cut corners and it shows. This is not authentic soul food.

Very , very good. And plentiful. Customer service on point! Everything I ordered was under $20 . They gave all the condiments needed! will definitely be back.

Decent service. Mac n cheese was flavorful. The catfish by itself lacked flavor but with hot sauce and the Mac n cheese, it was good. I liked their pickles. The yams were good too (wasn't too sweet) but I wish they were a bit softer. The hush puppies were pretty good too. Overall, I was satisfied since I was super hungry and it wasn't a disappointing experience.

I was so excited to try this place since it's right around the corner from me and let me tell you it's worth every penny! I got the catfish filet fried crispy, greens, yams and hush puppies. Everything was cooked to perfection. The fish was fried just the way I like it, and seasoned very well. I love that they don't use the traditional Asian owned fish fry seasoning if you know what I mean ....this is fish is coated in love! So happy you guys are in the neighborhood!

I have them a second chance and it's a no, I requested crispy fish, fries and onion rings. Everything was a soggy mess. They didn't pack it to arrive crispy. You cannot pack crispy fries or onion rings in styrofoam. It has to go in a paper bag, everything was sweating- total waste of money. The only thing that was ok was the cornbread. No seasoning but bland. Very disappointed, I wouldn't try them again.

I tried to try this restaurant. I always just order through Yelp and prepay. Never had a problem before with other restaurants. I ordered during business hours. I got this message. Why on earth would they deny a prepaid order?? Are they not in business to make money??

This was my 2nd visit and the customer service is always outstanding. I got the combo dinner with catfish shrimp and oysters, the food was amazing and well worth the price. Thank you 2nd chance for your service.

I'm not sure if I love the food or the customer service more! Both are top tier! I ordered the red snapper, shrimp, greens and onion rings the first time I went. Found myself back there three days later. Everything delicious, seasoned well and separated so it didn't get soggy! The customer service was almost unbelievable, I haven't felt that taken care of in ANY business in a very long time.

I've had 2nd chance twice in the last two weeks and their food is really good! Green, hush puppies, fish and shrimp. Very nice and friendly service. Louisianas was my go to in the area, but I think 2nd chance has them beat.

Really good catfish! Tender, mild flavor, not over fried. Good size pieces. French fries and corn bread were good. Greens were okay.

This was my first time ordering from here...I ordered the 6pc sanddab w/2 sides, hush puppies and 1 extra side on Wednesday (10/26)... The sanddab & the hush puppies were good... The mac & cheese I didn't like - There wasn't anything creamy about it...Infact, it was stuck together...Warming it up made no difference. A couple of bites is all it took...No flavor...A waste cause I didn't care to eat it all... The yams were ok - A couple of them weren't cooked through so I didn't eat all of it... The side potato salad was ok - like the yams quite a few potatoes weren't cooked throughly...Also, some of the potatoes were too chunky where they should have cut them more into smaller pieces...I didn't eat all of it... If the creamy sauce is being made with artificial cheese it doesn't melt like real cheese does when reheating...There are great cheese recipes out here when making a cheese sauce...It's best to use real cheese for a better outcome... The only thing that I completely ate were the hush puppies and the fish... I'll give them another try...I just know what not to order... Overall a 2.7 rating... Oh yeah I forgot a soda came with the order...I ordered a Cherry Dr Pepper and put in the notes if they didn't have Dr Pepper I'll take a Strawberry soda...I got a soda that I don't even drink which was a Coke...Neither of what I asked for...I gave it to my daughter...

It's good. Great sides, not just p/s, fries, or Cole slaw. Fish & shrimp are always good, if not return it & explain the problem. They'll do you right.

Love the food you can tell the workers at this establishment care about the food. Food not too salty or greasy definitely will be back.
