Super chill, theme-based cocktail bar! I loved how each cocktail was based off a herb-- this made the cocktails super unique! Ambiance was very chill and service was great. Definitely want to visit again!

Amazing complex cocktails with an artistic and aesthetic menu! I came with a friend on a Tuesday night around 8 pm and it was pretty busy! We were fortunately able to be seated right away at the bar (beautifully backlit). The vibe is lively but comfortable. The friendly bartender quickly answered questions about the menu and took our order. I got the Curry Leaf drink (whiskey-based with notes of honeydew, cucumber, and clarified soy milk), and my friend got the Pandan (bourbon, burnt butter, pandan, wood bitters). The Curry Leaf drink is refreshing thanks to the cucumber and fruity notes, but interesting spices and a kick from the curry leaves. The Pandan was my favorite between the two though- alcohol-forward with warm flavors, and an incredible aftertaste of pandan. It was honestly really hard picking a drink from their gorgeous menu, and I will definitely be back to try more of their drinks!

Mace, a cocktail bar with unique flavors in the West Village, has been labeled one of 50 best bars in the world, one of 50 best bars in North America, and to no surprise, #1 in New York City (January 2023, Time Out New York). With a travel-inspired menu with cocktails made from inspiration across the globe, after a quick visit it's easy to see why Mace has received the titles shared above. While keeping in mind reservations can be hard to come by at times, we learned this past weekend that Sunday early evenings aren't super busy. We got two spots at the bar and, as a pre-dinner appetizer, tried a few cocktails and some oysters. The cocktails: Black Sesame: made with shochu, gojuchang, soy sauce, black sesame syrup, black garlic, and cucumber - ...wait, what??! Yes, really, and somehow it all works nicely together with a unique taste that still feels balanced. And no, this isn't an Udon bowl - it's a cocktail. Avocado Leaf: tequila, mezcal, coconut orgeat, Grand Marnier, lime, and morel juice - is very refreshing, and reminded me of a margarita meets piña colada We also got a dozen oysters - and while their food menu is limited, it was definitely not an afterthought. The food matched the caliber of the drinks with unique flavors that complemented the cocktails. On point! The bartenders were very helpful and friendly, and it's dimly lit and very relaxed. I assume with a fuller house it may be louder and livelier but this night was truly perfection.

We stumbled upon this bar for happy hour and were very pleased with our drinks and experience. It was a bummer we couldn't order any of their regular menu drinks for HH but they had two off menu drinks for HH special ($12 each). I tried one of them and would go back to try their unique regular drinks. We also got the watermelon burrata salad from their menu and enjoyed that!

Nice small bar/ restaurant known for making really unique cocktails. I sat at the car and the bartenders were really friendly and they also have a happy hour! I only came for drinks so I can't speak on the food, but I tried the rosemary drink and their signature mace drink. The 2 drinks I ordered were good. I liked the rosemary the best. The only downside is that the menu is seasonal and changes every few months so if you have a favorite today it won't be back on the menu once it's been switched out. The rosemary was very refreshing. Not what I expected from the ingredients listed on the cocktail, but it was really light and a good cocktail that could prob pair well with whatever meal. The mace was also good but it's extremely beet focused. If you like beets you will like this drink, it's good to try, but I don't think I could drink more than if these in one seating. It also comes in a cute cup. Next time I come back I'll try the food!

Found this gem walking distance from Washington square park. Doesn't look like much from outside, however, when you go inside, it's dimly lighted and a cool long bar. The restaurant had a low key chill Vibe where you can grab a drink and a small bite. We had the pleasure of being served by bartenders Ben and Nico. They both made phenomenal drinks including Mace signature drinks and the classic old fashion. Nico made a whiskey smash for my friend and made me a great tasting, equally strong old fashion drink. Mace signature drinks are unique craft drinks from different places of the world which was really cool. I had the Avocado leaf, Coco nibbs and the Mace. They had oysters which were petite and shucked really well. One of the best, fresh tasting oysters hands down. In fact, this place was so good, we came back a second time the same day! Very clean everywhere including their bathroom. Definitely worth checking out and having one or all their signature drinks. Staff was very helpful, polite and just great service.

This is such a great cocktail bar. They use fresh ingredients and put a lot of thought into their cocktails. The cocktails tasted really good and are worth the price. They're also well rounded and have a good flavor combination. The bar is also really nice! It's got a rustic elegance and even has a fire place. The seats are comfortable and cozy.

This place is such a good vibe. We came with friends after dinner and got lucky with an outside table without having had a reservation. We ordered dirty martinis and a perfect Manhattan then got another round of espresso martinis. The dirty martini wasn't my favorite in the city and it was mainly due to their olives. I prefer my olives to be pitted but these still had the seed in the middle. The espresso martinis in my opinion were the star of the show. They were unique because they had a banana flavor and tasted amazing. Shout out to our server who was so helpful and had great service.

My friends and I had just finished pizza nearby and were looking for a spot less crowded to unwind. A quick search brought Mace up - pictures and reviews looked great, so we decided to head over and check it out. Mace is a cocktail bar that serves up herb-inspired concoctions. After a quick skim of their website, I learned that they've made multiple "best of" lists over the years, so I was excited to see what they had to offer. Walking in, you're greeted by the main bar area with a few tables off to the side, with additional tables in the back. The decor was upscale but not standoffish, we were seated by the fireplace which made for a very cozy aesthetic. Cocktails are the star of the menu, though they do have a selection of small plates as well. Browsing the menu, I noticed that instead of clever names, all the cocktails were named based off the dominant herb/spice in the drink. I decided to start with the Vanilla which was sweet, rich, and smooth - all of the flavor components worked well together. I also had the Turmeric which wasn't as heavy, but instead had more fruit notes in addition to ginger. This was really good as well - smooth and almost refreshing. Service was good, our server was very friendly and made great suggestions. Overall, I had a wonderful first experience at Mace - the cocktails are unique and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming; these are some of the more expensive cocktails I've seen in the city, but I feel it's worth it. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

One of the best in NYC! Cocktail flavors are both unique and exotic, complex and beautifully done. Been on my list of cocktail bars to try out and finally got the chance to stop by and will be back! Staff friendly and relaxed. Interior a cozy warm and dark vibe, great for dates.

Cute cocktail bar! Sat in the back and it was intimate. They have an interesting cocktail menu. Tried the pandan, spruce and fenugreek. All three were tasty!

Looooved my vanilla cocktail! a yummy creamy dessert. Service was fast and we got seated immediately even though they were busy! The menu is unlike anything I've ever seen before. From flavors to clever names... The whole place is really an experience. Highly recommended.

RATING: 9/10 PRO TIP: There isn't that much by way of food on the menu, just very small bites and lots of seafood (oysters, for example). No meat options. So just be aware. This place ranked in the top 50 bars in the world - I can see why. The concept is that each drink is crafted with the inspiration sourced from an herb/seasoning/spice. PANDAN - nice and not too sweet, does have the pandan running through at the finish. GARLIC DRINK - garlic not very prominent, but an enjoyable drink overall. Think they added a fair number of things to take away from the garlic component but I was curious to see how it could have been the star of the show. The drinks are interesting, thoughtfully crafted, and are memorable for sure. In a city with tons of bars, it's hard to stand out but this place will stand in my memory as a worthwhile spot to return to for sure. FINAL CATEGORY: EXCELLENT (terrible / bad / ok / good / great / EXCELLENT)

awesome and unique cocktails. ordered a few before dinner down the street and was impressed - all delicious and fun. the namesake cocktail was great, as were the harissa and sichuan pepper (although I wanted some mouth numbing from this one). drinks came pretty quickly and service was great - definitely looking forward to coming back to try more

I can see why Mace made top 50 Bars list in 2022. The service was great, the ambiance dark & modern, and the drinks were phenomenal. Fresh ingredients & unique concepts. I got the cocoa nibs & was so impressed by the chocolate whiskey combo. Would definitely order again.

3.75/5 Made a reservation to check this bar out when Paradiso (one of top bars in Barcelona) came to do a pop up. We were able to get seated quickly, and ordered our drinks. The bar was definitely a bit loud and rowdy, which I thnk could be attributed to everyone celebrating the visiting bartenders. They played music, danced, and overall had a great time, which was enjoyable but could definitely have been a lot. This was a special event though, so I wouldn't expect the regular bar to have similar vibes. The drinks were tasty, but the service was definitely slow. It took about 2 hrs for us to get 2 drinks. We attributed this to the visiting bar and the regular bartenders not working at their usual capacity, but it was still quite a bit. We tried the black sesame drink, the truffle drink, and cacao nib drink. The first was a bit reminiscent of DCP's Japanese cold noodle, with a cucumber/sesame oil mix. The last drink was a bit like a Manhattan/Old fashioned, more spirit forward. The truffle drink didn't really taste like truffles either. Overall, the drinks were interesting, and I'm definitely interested in coming back to try other drinks, but I think they could've been executed better and had the title flavors come out stronger. I'd still come back though, so I'd still recommend it.

Amazing flavorful cocktails and bites! The drinks are unique profiles and tastiness - covered by a beautifully crafted menu. The food was also on point. Tapas are meant to be shared. The eggplant dip and the broccolini with salsa verde mole sauce were my faves. The cáptese toast is refreshing, but I would have preferred some more crunch. Despite the amazing intake of food and beverages, I knocked a star off because the service was not very attentive. Multiple times we had to flag folks down to place orders. It was surprising, given the caliber and quality of everything else experienced. Check them out, but be prepared to wait a while ;)

Really impressed by the cocktail flavor. Very intense syrup flavor -- it's on the sweeter side -- but there is this strong umami yet not too savory note on all of the cocktails. The flavor is very concentrated and lasts on your tongue a long time. Given there are a ton of people here and the space is humongous, it's honestly amazing how they are able to serve people relatively quickly and maintain the quality of the cocktails. Must be pre-blended (I mean which place isn't), but it's very good and highly recommend. They always have space and parties are in and out. Beautifully run.

The west village has so many cute cocktail bars, and this place is no exception. I've heard that this place is a really nice date spot, but I came here with two other friends and the ambiance was amazing. I hate cocktail bars where you have to scream to be heard, but also love a moody setting. Mace was definitely lively and fully packed, but I could still carry a conversation with my friends without having to strain. They also have ressies available the week of (huge plus in new york)! Their menu is adorablee. I'm a visual learner, so I loved that they had cute drawings next to their drinks. They also included each drink's flavor profile (e.g. citrusy + light) and spice origins, which made it easy to figure out what the drink would taste like without having a comprehensive understanding of what each obscure ingredient was. They have a pretty small selection of drinks, which made it easy to order and I loved just how approachable the menu was. I ordered the mace (earthy + fruity flavor profiles) and pandan (citrusy + light). I didn't love the drinks I ordered - the mace tasted overwhelmingly like beet and the pandan was a bit too spicy for my taste but my friend ordered the marigold and it was really good. Such a quaint little cocktail bar and the vibes here were amazing. The drinks here were super cute but they just didn't exactly match the flavor profiles I typically go for in a drink (fruity and light).

DO NOT COME EXPECTING HAPPY HOUR. I came here with fam super excited about their happy hour--it was rated one of the best in west village--because my mom who was visiting was super stressed about high NYC prices. I looked up the specs of their happy hour online and confirmed it looked great! Food and drinks at a nice discount. Upon entering (see pic) you see a sign marketing their happy hour! But we got no HH menu, so I went to the hostess to ask her for one. "We don't have one anymore." "A happy hour?!" I responded. "No that's NOT what I just said. No menu." she responded with some unnecessary aggression. "You can just ask your server for the HH specials." So when we asked him, he told us about two cocktails on HH. We asked about HH food as well. "Umm...oysters. And.....there's...some fries?" We continued staring. "Shrimp cocktail....we're phasing out our happy hour so we don't advertise it, but if you know of it, yeah we have it." ok, sketch, but I'd done my homework and knew what was previously on their happy hour. When a different waitress came to take our order and I mentioned happy hour drinks and bites, she looked sideways and said "I don't think we have happy hour anymore..." When our OG waiter came back, I asked if he could help us clear this up with our new waitress, and he said "there's no...happy hour." I stared at him. "You JUST said earlier there was a happy hour." He's clearly searching for a way out. "Unfortunately it ended a half hour ago." "Umm, no, you have a sign outside your establishment that LITERALLY says happy hour 4-7pm," I said. He looked stressed. I said "Also, I specifically brought my family here BECAUSE of the happy hour." "Oh. Oh, um okay then you can have it?" Mace, get your shit together. If you don't have a happy hour, your sign out front butter not mention one. I wanted to have a great experience with my mom, but instead she arrived and said "So what are those deals?" And I had to tell her about all this, embarrassingly, after doing a lot of research to pick this spot. After all this, they didn't give us the happy hour prices. We spent about $200 on 6 drinks and 3 appetizers. Will not be returning :/

The ambience of this place is pretty good.The staff were nice. We went there for a couple of drinks and had oysters too. The drinks were so good and I was dumbfounded by the variety of their drink menu.

I love the menu and the concept of this bar. This is my second time here and I came back for the Paradiso event that I missed, but stayed to have one of the original cocktails. The first time I went here I got the 'mace' which I really like, if I see beetroot and drink I am probably going to order it. I got the rosemary which I was not a fan of. My friend ordered the cocoa nibs which is spirit forward and balances well with the chocolate on the rim.

One of my new favorite cocktail spots! Got a last minute Resy on a Friday night. Tried the angelica, jalapeno, and marigold. The angelica had such a unique flavor profile and the jalapeno was so smooth. I will definitely be back to try others. My only comment is that it was a little loud that night and I felt like a I was yelling across the table. Great spot for friends, but may have picked a quieter night for a date.

MACE was a great place for a fun evening of cocktails and bites with friends. First become aware of this establishment given the accolades it has previously received for their cocktails. The drinks lived up to the hype. The atmosphere was very cool with nice lighting and a cool design above the bar with various spices. The drinks were delicious and all involved an associated spice. I thoroughly enjoyed my pandan and later the cocoa nibs, both were whiskey based drinks. The vanilla was very tasty and reminded me of a milkshake. The saffron and rosemary were both tasty and more floral. We shared the charcuterie board and French onion soup dumplings. Everything was delicious. Servers were friendly, very responsive and accommodating particularly when one of our party members did not enjoy their drink - easily exchanged.

Cocktails here are very inventive, though seemingly light on alcohols. The Pandan or Mace are good cocktails to try at first visit. After that, stick to the classics if you do not want to be adventurous. This is an ideal cocktail bar for those who enjoy fusion foods or mixed drinks. It is a good bar if you like to try new or go to popular spots. Probably not for you if like dive bars or similar vibes spots. It's still worth a visit (#18 on the new 2023 North America's Best Bars list). Note make reservations on Resy. Also, they'll hold your table for 20 minutes if you call them when running late...

We had an awesome experience at MACE on New Years Eve for cocktails! We had a group of 4 and were seated promptly at our reservation time. The inside has an intimate and trendy ambiance that fits anything from catching up with friends to a date night! I went a bit out of my comfort zone and tried the chamomile drink (a hot drink) which ended up being SO good and such a unique blend of flavors. This ended up being the drink of the night and my friends also ordered this for for their second round of drinks. Overall, adding this spot to my NYC list :)

First time at Mace and I can't say enough about it! The cocktails were unique and the ambiance was great. The service is also quick and attentive. I came with a group of 4 on a Sunday evening. We had reservations, but the place was about halfway full so it would have been fine without one. They serve small plates and shareable dishes so we got the 2 meat + 3 cheeses. Everything was high quality and delicious. Between all of us we tried a total of 7 different cocktails and loved them all. I can't choose a favorite, but really enjoyed the Saffron cocktail. Definitely coming back here!

This is a nice place for drinks but the drinks are bit pricey and the specials price isn't that discounted. I did enjoy the drinks I had but I don't think my budget is down for $18 cocktails. My friend was in town and I had this place on radar so that's how I ended up here. The Ube - I read about this in Yelp and wanted to give it a go. It's a bit odd due to the milky nature. It reminded me of something else but I gave pinpoint it. It hits the palate in a light way.. It's not overly alcoholic in it's delivery. The Pandan (happy hr special)...This was a funny drink because first date it felt like I was sipping apple juice. I can't remember what's in it but with 3rd sip i was able to appreciate the other flavors in it. It doesn't taste strong but it def went to my head by the time i was done. I prefered this to the Ube. We also ordered the fish tacos as recommended by the waitress. The tacos were actually very good. We ordered more. The Oysters wer also good. I like the ambiance, it's dim but not dark. There is outdoor sitting as well. We spent a decent time here and we didn't feel rushed to eat/drink and clear away.

Reservation is highly recommended. We did a walk-in as a party of 4 on a Thursday evening and we were told to use the standing area. One of the hostesses said she will seat us once the seated space frees up but she lied because as the clock ticks to the right, there were spots open in the bar and the tables and they said they are reserved and cannot sit us. By the time we left, they were still empty. ORDERED: R: Mace cocktail V: Dill mocktail S: Thyme cocktail - even tho the menu said goat cheese-washed rye whiskey is one of the ingredients, there was no goat cheese flavor in this drink. Me: Dill mocktail - it was so good and refreshing. I love the subtle creamy texture with a hint of cucumber flavor. AMBIANCE: Dark. The standing area is slightly less than 1/3 of the restaurant space which is only for walk-ins. There are outdoor seating spaces, a bar, and tables. To sit in the bar, you have to make a reservation as well. There are about 4 bartenders behind the bar with empty spots which is more than usual compared to other bars I have been to. Overall, great craft cocktail bar inspired by many herbs. Very innovative. Recommend.

We had high hopes for this place as it was listed on the top 50 bars in the US list, but overall it kind of didn't meet our expectations. Getting a reservation is a good idea and was doable! My friend tried the Pandan drink and he was not a fan, so the waiter was nice enough to offer to switch it out for a new one. Pros: - Cool ambiance! On the darker side and upscale vibe - Clean bathrooms - Service was good - Reserving was easy - We liked the ube drink Cons: - I got a non alcoholic drink and sadly it was still the same price as an alcoholic drink, for mostly ice :( - Super loud inside, so a bit harder to talk to people at the table - They forgot our order at some point and we waited 25 min for them, and then they charged us for an extra drink - On the pricier side

Service wasn't upto par with the cocktail prices and the ambiance wasn't great for a cozy cocktail night out. Tables were squeezed together to accommodate more guests. Cocktails weren't upto par with the other great cocktail spots in the city. An underwhelming experience.

The volume was very loud when we went on Saturday around 10:30PM. The kitchen was closed early for the menu but was able to give us fries. the wine list is limited and we weren't fans of the Cote du Rhône we had

Dropped in to Mace at the end of cocktail bar night hop on a Friday evening, and needless to say, I was very, very impressed. The botanical and natural experiences/influences of the cocktails made our drinking experience very enjoyable. For drinks, we ordered the Ants, Cinnamon, and Ube. I could go into great detail about each cocktail, but I'll leave that to other patrons and viewers to try it for themselves. Nothing disappointed - the Cinnamon, in particular, was one of the best cocktails I've had anywhere. In addition, the food looked amazing, so I might come back to try out more plates. We ordered the Dry Pot Chili potatoes, and those were incredibly flavorful and delicious. Ambiance and service were both on point. I will definitely be making my way back here again!

Absolutely such a well thought out cocktail menu that incorporated culture and complex flavors! My friend told me to meet me at this place and I was so shocked! A highlight of my trip to NY! I loved that the menu accounted for cultures and the origins of each flavor that went into each cocktail. It was like traveling and learning so much about what each culture has to offer. I got the Black Sesame, and I was slightly worried about the Gochujang but the bartender reassured me and I'm so glad I got it. I'm not a fan of spicy cocktails but this was one was very balanced, there was a kick but it didn't overpower the drink as there was so many other flavors in play with this cocktail. I would totally come back and try the whole menu, their menu also rotates out every few months the bartender said. He was also super friendly, unfortunately he said he was the only bartender of the night and the place was packed so hope they get staffed up again. The place was cute, a lot of tables, we had no wait, but the place was packed by 7:30pm on a Monday.

This bar was top 50 bars in the world for five years, and I can see why. The cocktails all have super unique recipes, that focus on particular ingredients from southeast Asia. This is one of the most unique cocktail bars I've been. I loved both of the drinks we got! The drinks were very well balanced, and probably not really strong, since I didn't really get any buzz from it. 1. Pandan - coconut oil washed vodka + jasmine infused dry vermouth + pandan. This was such an unique drink! The pandan taste is subtle, and if you like pandan, I would totally recommend getting this! I thoroughly enjoyed this drink 2. Batak pepper- Aperol, gin, lemon juice, fennel syrup, Batak pepper tincture, sour mango beer. This was really yummy as well! The sour mango beer adds a very nice twist. Highly recommend! Ambiance: cute interior. Great date spot! 10/10 would come back and try out the other menu items!

It was a very nice venue, but the drinks took a little while to get, and they were far too sweet.

I came here around 11 pm on a Thursday night and there were a good amount of people! A lot of people were on dates so it was nice to people watch. The bar has dim lighting and I loved the ambiance. My friend and I shared the Ube cocktail, which was definitely different but yummy! There's ice cream inside and the consistency was kind of like a smoothie. I honestly don't know how else to describe the actual cocktail, so you'll just have try it for yourself! I would definitely come back and try some other cocktails.

One of my favorite cocktail bars. I'm not a fan of drinks that taste nothing but alcohol and burn your mouth. The drinks here are so flavorful and unique. Very reminiscent of double chicken please. I had the Mace, fig leaf, and the sorrel. Mace was my favorite. Food wise the tempura cauliflower was the table favorite. Service was also pretty quick. They were able to accommodate a larger party than we originally planned. Recommend and would come here again!

It's a mature and sexy vibe! I visited Mace on a Saturday evening for a date. We wanted a relaxed and safe environment to meet as this was an online connection. My date chose this place however, neither of us had been here before. Upon entering, I was thoroughly impressed. It is a dimly lit establishment with a bustling bar and seating areas. The bar itself is adorned with bottles of alcohol as any bar however, there are also some cool jars of what looks like spices and other items you'd add to a cocktail. We opted for a seat at the bar. The staff seem to be very busy and it took awhile for someone to give us a menu, then it took awhile to place our order. Following that, it took a lot of "excuse me's", to capture their attention for additional items. Despite that, everyone was very friendly and they did try to follow-up as the night went on. In essence, Mace is a cocktail bar that also serves small plates of food. The menu consists of carefully crafted drinks that include a variety of flavor profiles and ingredients. I absolutely loved that! Some of the combinations were so unique and culturally diverse. I decided to go for the Pandan, a delicious citrusy tequila based cocktail. 1. it was refreshing. 2. it was delicious. 3. it was perfect for someone who doesn't drink a lot but wants something light and sweet. For eats, I went straight for dessert and had the cast iron peach cobbler dish. It was a bit far from a small plate in my opinion, but very delicious. It was served right in a cast iron skillet, so it was piping hot with a crispy crust and perfectly sweetened interior. The peaches were soft and flavored with just the right amount of cinnamon and what tasted like brown sugar. It was also topped with creme fraiche which tasted like sour cream. It didn't add much to the dish, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ambience is sophisticated and mature. Noise level wasn't overly loud, nothing like a sports bar for sure. The bathroom was clean, decorated nicely, and also tied in with the serene vibe. Pricing was also reasonable given the area and service. Overall, I had a great time. I will definitely be returning and I highly recommend others visit. Its an ideal spot for after work drinks, date night, or a simple meet up among friends.

I was here a while ago before the Village Halloween Parade I believe while waiting for someone. As they are normally quite crowded, I was surprised I got a seat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly. She gave good recommendations and answered questions from me or the various others there and had a good chat with just about everyone. Place is a bit loud for a fancy cocktail bar but it is on this excellent food block. I'm unsure if the nearby Analogue or other cocktail bars are less loud. Anyway, as per the name, they do cocktails named and infused with spices. I went there during happy hour which has a few drinks only available then as well as some cheap snacks. I started with their happy hour special which was the Pandan Milk Punch. If I recall correctly from her description, it had two types of rum, clarified milk, and black tea. It was very tasty and as per it being a type of milk punch quite sweet. The pandan added a nice color as well as the unique floral flavor usually associated with it. Quite strong and delicious and I would recommend it especially as far as cheaper cocktails go. I got some food while drinking from the happy hour special which was the Spicy Salmon Belly Tartare with nori, salmon roe, and chives plated on crispy rice paper. This was alright. Salmon was clearly fresh but there wasn't that much of it. Creative presentation but definitely a fancy bar dish (more style than substance.) As my prior drink was very good, I decided to get another cocktail. After looking through and getting recommendations, I got the Curry Leaves with curry leaves-infused sherry , matcha infused dry curaçao, pistachio orgeat, and rectified miso apricot juice. I haven't had a good matcha infused drink in a while since Angel Share closed and the other ingredients had my name on it as well. This as per the ingredients had strong tropical flavors as well as some subtle bitterness from the matcha. I love the taste of curry leaves and this indeed had some subtle flavoring from there. Outstanding and if this was on the happy hour menu, I'd likely stop here often. Pricey excellent cocktails. I'd definitely get food somewhere else but I'd go back especially with the friendly service and for the drinks of course. Mid 4.

Mace is not your typical bar with typical drinks. Instead of your classic mango or strawberry margaritas and old fashioned bourbon, get yourself a Batak Pepper or Chervil cocktail and let your body thank you for the treat. When you're in nyc and you're paying 20 dollars for a cocktail, you don't want it to taste like something you can get at the pub next door. Mace delivers some truly unique and delicious mixes that you would never even fathom. Mace knows that a lot of their concoctions tread in unknown territory for most and they make it easier by labeling their cocktails based on their flavor profiles (earthy, fruity, herbal, etc.). If you're still lost, ask your server and they will point you in the right direction. Some of my favorites from the night are the Mace, Batak Pepper, Chervil, and Ants (without the ants!). My partner and I also ordered the guava and cheese, cast iron cornbread, truffle grilled cheese and oysters. Everything that we ordered and put in our mouth was delicious and if there was a recipe for that cornbread, I would make it a staple Thanksgiving app at family dinners. What seals the deal is the trendy chic modern atmosphere with touches of green. The bar is beautifully lit in addition to the warm lighting lended by warm golden fairy lights. The chairs are plush and there are booths for groups of friends. It feels like you're in a lounge influenced by the modern touches of a soho loft (cozy!). If you're going to spend tons of money on cocktails, let it be at Mace which fully deserves its place in World's 50 Best Bars. You won't regret it.

Bar Cham, a bar based in Seoul, was doing a guest shift at Mace, so I made a reservation to come in that day. The Bar Cham drinks were to die for. The ones I tried were very refreshing. The Soloman's Seal Root was slightly sweet, and the foam on top was perfect. The Naeng-ee was more herbal and slightly bitter but still very good. At the end of their shift, Bar Cham staff came around to the tables to give postcards. After this amazing experience, I'm hoping to go to their actual bar one day in Seoul. The drinks at Mace itself were all based on spices/herbs around the globe. They were very creative and the ingredients represented that. I tried a version of the pandan that was off menu and the chervil on Mace's menu. The pandan tasted too artificial for me to enjoy. However, the chervil was great. It was very citrus forward, with the olive oil and chervil as more of the ending notes. The event at Mace was great. I hope to come back to Mace for their happy hour one day.

not sure if there's something wrong with me due to the glowing positive line of reviews before me, but i was definitely not wow'd with my experience at mace. i'd like whatever y'all are having. while the vibes were trendy, moody, it, and the drinks sounded interesting, in reality the drink experience was super mediocre. the cocktails stood out through a variety of trendy key word ingredients, so that's probably why the prices were sky high and people get drawn in. because of the hype, i could see why they were charging more, but to me, the prices couldn't justify the severe lacking and bad flavor combinations. they were fleecing like crazy. the pandan drink definitely boasted the pandan flavor but just tasted off in general. other drinks i tried off their signature menu tasted like they were going for the double chicken please experience but fell quite short. i felt that the flavor combinations were rather off balance and were way too spirit forward. service was good-- and that's about it. patient servers for my group of girlfriends. with the enormous amount of options in the city i wouldn't really be back. it's simple cash grab for me.

I think I went on a "off" night because I was far from impressed. I planned to indulge in several drinks & food however after I taste of my initial drink I was convinced that it wasn't going to be an epic night. Both drinks were bitter to say the least & I prefer my drinks to be rich & sweet. Vibe was excellent tbh. Loud & good music.

I came here with a friend on Christmas Eve after dinner in the area. I've been here once before a year ago and had a decent experience. It wasn't particularly busy when we came for drinks. However the service was not attentive at all. Not sure if it was the lack of staff since it being a holiday eve, but it took a very long time to be able to grab a server who would take our drink order. The wait for the drinks themselves was even longer to a point we questioned if our order was ever put in. Maybe like 15-20 minutes later did our drink order come in. The drinks themselves were decent. I think the drink menu do rotate since what I ordered a year ago wasn't on the menu anymore. The menu is very descriptive on whats in a drink and what tasting notes to expect. The ambience is great and I love the interior design. Overall the drinks were decent, but the lack of service led to a not so great experience.

seems like a date spot, but came as a group of 3 and had a great time LOL. the concept is several cocktails each revolving around a certain spice (e.g. sumac, garlic, fennel pollen etc.) they were excellent cocktails (not the absolute best I've ever had but a really, really solid drink) and had very interesting flavors. Our fav was the garlic came in at 4:30 pm on a saturday and there was only standing room. but the front of house staff really nicely let us slide into a booth in between reservations and the vibe was immaculate. there seems to be food too but we didnt get a chance to try would come again, would make a reservation too LOL. drinks range from $18.5-$20 ish bucks, so expect $25/drink after tax + tip.

I originally found out about this bar because it made a list of the top bars in the world so I wanted to check it out. The names of their drinks are ingredients or spices that are incorporated in the cocktails. One cool fact that I found was that this bar is owned by one of the owners of Cocktail Kingdom. My first drink was the pandan ($18.50) which had a slushie texture. It was sweet from the pandan and delicious. My second drink was the chaat masala ($17.50) which was strong like a Manhattan but fruity. They used seasonal fruits in their infusion which added to the freshness. My third drink was the mace ($17.50) which was big on beet flavors and easy to drink. The beet juice was the main flavor and I don't think I've ever had a cocktail with beets before. The service and the bartenders were great. The drinks were unique and different from all other menus I've seen. The drinks use unique flavor combinations and I'm not surprised their menu is award-winning.

Fun cocktail spot- very intimate inside. Sadly somehow they forgot our drinks so they offered us each a shot on the house. We were a little annoyed since we had to run to dinner but the drinks were good and creative! We especially liked the menu too- the descriptions are wildly accurate. We didn't try any food but awesome location and spot! Would recommend.
