"This beloved dive bar in O4W is up there as the creme de la creme of wing spots, but they don't allow to-go orders, so get comfy. And that's fine with us since The Local has darts on the back wall, a packed house for Monday night karaoke sessions, and a big collection of local stouts, IPAs, and other brews that also make it great for beer snobs. So settle into a booth, grab a tall boy and some lemon pepper wings and enjoy yourself. Food Rundown photo credit: Amy Sinclair Wings If you come here and don’t order lemon pepper wings, your ATLien card will officially be revoked. These are some of the best wings in the city—juicy, smoky, plump, and the only must-order on the menu. Local Dog A toasted Martin’s bun holds an all-beef frank loaded down with cheese sauce, spicy jalapeños, a slather of smoky BBQ sauce, and a squiggle of mustard. It’s an unlikely combo of flavors that somehow works in harmony together. Chicago Dog All the usual toppings (onion, relish, tomatoes, sport peppers, and mustard) makes this dog a winner for anyone who digs this classic. And we appreciate the option to swap the all-beef frank for a veggie dog. Dirty Bird You can get this sandwich with a slow-cooked, so-tender-it’ll-fall-apart chicken thigh or baked tofu. We opt for chicken here because it’s jaw-droppingly good and mixes perfectly with tangy coleslaw, a spicy aioli, and jerk seasoning. Fried Okra This is a side, but the tiny fried pieces of salty okra go great with a hot dog. photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair" - Juli Horsford
"With its dog-friendly patio, super affordable drink choices, and some of the city’s best wings, the Local is perfect for hanging out with friends and doing a little people watching on Ponce." - Eater Staff, Lia Picard
"This gritty pub on Ponce is the overwhelming “people’s choice” for smoked wings. Even as smoked wings have become one of Atlanta’s most popular styles, the wings at The Local are crispy yet still juicy, a difficult combination to master. Order the dry-rubbed jerk or lemon pepper, or try the sauced versions like the tikka masala or spicy Korean BBQ." - Mike Jordan, Eater Staff
"We already know what you’re thinking. How can we recommend any other food item at The Local besides their famous wings? But this beloved dive bar in O4W proves they aren’t a one-trick pony with their surprisingly awesome hot dog selections (and yes, they offer both all-beef and veggie dogs). After a few rounds of beer and darts, dive into our favorite—the Dirty Dog topped with sriracha aioli, tangy slaw, and a spicy jerk seasoning. To-go orders aren’t a thing at the Local, so we recommend going on a Monday for karaoke night, so you can enjoy it while basking in a drunken and emotional rendition of “You Oughta Know.” And by now, you really oughta know to order the wings, too. "Good wings and great beer always rope in a crowd, so we're never surprised when see everyone from suits to artsy types in the booths of this O4W dive bar. Yes, it's also a lively scene with loud music, karaoke, and darts, but everyone is here for the crispy wings—arguably the best wings in ATL and one of the best in the nation. The place doesn't do to-go orders, so you just gotta come and hang out, which isn't really a problem when you put a local brew on the table and combo of lemon pepper and Korean buffalo wings." - demarco williams, juli horsford
