8 At Ping Yang - Review - Capitol Hill - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This Thai spot’s whole shtick is charcoal-grilled meats—but results are mixed. There’s a choose-your-own-adventure option where proteins like steak, lobster, chicken, and pork are available with a variety of sauces and sides. Unfortunately, the steak arrives with barely any char, and the sticky rice is mushy. There are some decent takes on Thai food elsewhere on the menu, including a bright papaya salad, and their indoor-outdoor patio setup is appealing. But the main dishes are forgettable. 8 At Ping Yang is best for a last-minute casual date with just drinks (particularly the lychee martini)." - Kayla Sager-Riley

The food, ambience, and staff is phenomenal! I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Ben and Chef and they are so welcoming! The food tastes AMAZING! Every dish is made in its own unique way and made with so much love and care. The pork was my most favorite but regardless it was all soooo good! My partner and I usually don’t drink, but we had to give the cocktails a try for our first time trying this restaurant and the drinks were really good. Big thank you to the staff for the amazing food and experience. 10/10 recommend and will be returning very soon!

Just had the experience of a casual lunch at 8 Ping Yang. The atmosphere was calm and cute and the food was frankly amazing. We had a few different versions of the Khao Soi, which was my first time having it and it was one of the best curries I’ve had. We also had a chicken dish recommended by the young owner Ben, who was helpful, knowledgeable and gracious. Prices are very reasonable and they have high value lunch special worth checking out. Highly recommend!

I had an amazing experience at 8 Ping Yang. Lovely atmosphere, very personable staff, and the food was fresh and expertly cooked. The meat fondue was a very bold yet successful take on Indian cuisine and fondue incorporating cheese into the curry, making the dish a very bold spiced flavor. The main course was seafood pasta, I ended up dipping some of my seafood into the leftover cheese, curry fondue sauce, and it paired very nicely with my Pasta. Overall is very positive experience.

We happened upon this place while initially looking for somewhere to have lunch. We got lucky as we found a parking garage and when led out to the courtyard, we saw 8 Ping Yang. The menu looked great and the prices didn't seem to bad either. We came in and received phenomenal service immediately. We were able to find a table for four of us (2 adults and 2 children) quickly. Their menu isn't super huge which works to their advantage because everything they do, they do well. We ordered the Cran Rangoons, Bangkok burger, Khao San - Chicken Katsu, and the pesto pasto. Everything came out very quickly, was hot (fresh) and absolutely delicious. The owner (I believe she was) came to chat with us and was extremely accommodating and even helped my 3-year-old figure out how to use the girl to grab pasta, oh and she also helped cut the pasta so it wouldn't be too long for my toddler; she was VERY sweet. I'm not too sure but I think she said they're fairly new so I had to write the review because I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for delicious food!

Food was ok. I think my wife liked her steak basil fried rice more than I liked my khao soi. The tofu was way over-fried and tough to chew. I prefer it soft enough to soak up some of the sauce.

Strong google reviews, but a negative critic review had me curious - trust the people, this spots good🤙 Khao Soi was crazy good, I definitely recommend getting it with the braised beef! Pineapple fried rice was also solid.

The food is so good! I usually like traditional foods but the way they blend flavors into fusion dishes and cocktails let's me know that they really have an understanding of Southeast Asian cuisine. P.S It comes with more fries than that. I ate a few before I remembered to take a photo.

Google
Insanely cool spot with unbelievably nice folks behind the bar, at the grill and all around. The peanut satay fondue and skewers cannot be missed and the cocktail program is top notch. So excited for this place to be around and can’t wait to come back.

Yelp
Hands down - best Khao soi in Seattle! 8 ping yang's value prop is its extensive Khao soi options - like grilled beef tenderloin, grilled prawn, braised beef, lamb legs, tofu, and even prawns! Another value prop: quality and attention to detail. Most Thai restaurants would give you an excessive amount of noodles and a few pieces of low quality chicken. 8 ping yang serves just the right amount of noodles, topped with a generous heap of crispy noodles (yum!) - and a large portion of beef tenderloin- well seasoned and perfectly charred. 100% worth the money.

Yelp
I checked out this restaurant with a few friends on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty easy to find parking, and the restaurant was fairly empty so no line. I ordered the lamb Khao Soi, and we were all very pleasantly surprised how nice the plating was. The Khao Soi was pretty tasty, and the lamb was fairly tender. I thought the portion sizes were pretty small though. Overall I enjoyed coming here, but i didn't think it was so good that I'd want to come here again.

Yelp
The congee comes out in these awesome clay pots. Get the pork congee with a doughnut and a century egg and you won't be sad! Also has a nice patio area for having a cold beer on a hot day.

Yelp
One of my favorite thai places! This location was the former location of Marjorie. I particularly enjoy their grilled protein choices from the char grilled menu on the dinner menu which is pretty unique compared your standard Thai joints. I got the bone in rib eye and pork jowel which I highly recommend. They also offer other meats and seafood like kurabota pork , seabass and shrimp which i will definitely try next time. Of interest is also their congee selection and Khao soi which have many options to customize!

Yelp
Wow this is place is pretty good! My favorite was the pork jowl and the dipping sauce. If you know Thai dripping sauce this will be familiar to you. The place was nicely decorated and feels very nice. The staff was also nice as well! It's definitely a chill spot to grab a bite and or drink before heading out to cap hill. Mmmm saap saap!

Yelp
Great staff! Amazing food! Cute location! Absolutely loved an everything I ordered. I'm a sucker for some garlic fried rice. (Didn't manage to snag a picture before I chowed down) Here's the chicken pot stickers, crispy Kurobuta pork belly, and Thai green tea Tiramisu. The tiramisu is a must try dessert! Can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
Wonderful experience at this new spot! Had a wonderful dinner here and enjoyed some of the Thai pasta dishes as well as a tasty papaya salad and crab cakes. Highly recommended for any Thai food lovers out there.

Yelp
Awesome new restaurant! A really cool new experience for Thai food with all great dishes that were all firsts for me. Super nice staff as well, would definitely strongly recommend especially as a new place!
