I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. But the service knocked off 2 stars.
I went here for my friend's birthday, and I arrived a bit earlier than expected. I approached the hostess to let her know I was there, and she looked me up and down before bluntly saying, "You'll be seated when your party is here," then walked away. No smile, no greeting--just total snobbery. The place was 75% empty, so I don't understand why I couldn't wait at the bar, especially since my reservation was there! Please be aware that they enforce a strict dress code. I wore a dress and heels.
When my friend finally arrived, I told the hostess my party was here. She led me to a table, and I reminded her I had reserved a spot at the chef's counter, even showing her the confirmation. She rolled her eyes and said, "I don't know why it was switched. Give me a second." (Was it switched on purpose? My RBF was strong at this point.) After looking around for a bit, she finally seated us at the chef's counter. Overall, the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I definitely felt discriminated as seen on others' reviews. Because the hostess allowed another girl (who was white) to sit at the table to wait for her other 3 friends but I couldn't?
I loved the pasta! The pasta tasting was definitely worth it, especially for the generous amount of truffles they served--it was absolutely delicious. We started with the prosciutto, and while I wanted to try the burrata, it was clear it wasn't homemade. I saw the chefs open a prepackaged burrata and simply plate it, which was disappointing for $30. We also ordered a bottle of wine, and my personal favorite pasta was the Tagliatelle al Tartufo Nero. For dessert, we had the signature budino and loved the touch of hazelnuts. All that for a whopping total of $402 excluding gratuity. The server was quite indifferent during our interactions and didn't seem very attentive. Honestly, I'd rather have given the gratuity to the hardworking chefs.
Love the pasta but not sure if I'd ever go out of my away to come back here for the poor experience.
To the hostess: Don't judge people and lose the attitude.
