Best Restaurants in Columbia, South Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Owner Falomi Geter serves a fried “chicken” sandwich that makes even the most adamant carnivore consider vegan life. While this main dish has gotten many in the door, the sides should not be skipped, and the portions are large enough for two meals. Collards, purple cabbage, and black eyed peas are some of the best soul food offerings in the area. The restaurant doesn’t offer indoor dining, so either grab a spot on the patio or take the meal to go." - Helen Harrison

Not only is the food amazing, but the customer service is top tier. It’s a young man named “Jaeem” I don’t know if I’m spelling it right but he’s a young chocolate lock head. We found out about “Peace Of Soul” through a vegan festival and the food was so good. A few weeks later we drove to SC from High Point NC to try more. The yellow cake with chocolate frosting is my favorite dessert it’s so good I had to ask was it 100%vegan lol because it taste just like the dairy version. I’ve been plant based for years and this is the place to me that I can’t tell a difference that’s how good it is. Honestly it’s a little better. Other things I’ve tried are sloppy joes, waffle fries, blueberry cake, ginger juice, lemon pepper sliders, pasta salad, polish with beans, bean burrito, and chicken. My favorite hands down is a polish!!!! I ate that and it brought back childhood memories. The SLOPPY JOES made my heart melt that pretzel bun sloppy Joe is unmatched. The food comes out sooooo hot and fresh, and it doesn’t take that long. They will even text you if you go out so you won’t be left in the dark. I love this little gem and I’m so glad it’s black owned. It’s makes me want to relocate next door so I can stop driving so far. Bless you all and may you all continue to grow and prosper, and lord let me be able to continue to support amen! P.S some of the food is NOT pictured because I ate it to fast lol. P.S.S just for pure honesty and no bashing I didn’t like the beans not nasty just not for me, the pineapple ginger juice is too sweet, I couldn’t finish, not nasty just not for me, and the blueberry cake is overly sweet not for me, again not nasty at all. Love y’all 💙❤️🤎🙌🏾💋🥰

Here on business, looked for some delicious Vegan eats, this was the first recommended. I ordered bang bang broc and fries. The quantity are so large, I had some for lunch and finished it later. Very delicious and pleasing to see. Beautiful looking bang bang broc. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend and also I'm going back to try more menu items.

This was my second time in this establishment. Both times the food was good! Very great customer service. The only thing this time is it seems my food was not as hot as my first visit. Overall it was good. The first visit I had the vegan BBQ spare ribs with collard greens, purple cabbage and vegan Mac and cheeze'. If you are a fan of soy curds you will love the BBQ spare ribs. The vegetables were seasoned well, Mac and cheeze was some of the best I've tasted. My second visit, I had the traditional fried Chik'n sandwhich with fries. The crunch and seasonings are perfection! A very pleasant place to patronize. Check them out. You won't be disappointed!

The only thing better than the food was the service!! The gentlemen up front were both happy, gregarious, and had beautiful smiles! After I placed my order, they remembered my name and continued to remember my name when I came back to pick up my food. The mac and cheese was amazing!!! The Nashville chicken sandwich was seriously one of the best I've ever had!! I wish the collards were more tangy than sweet but that's just my preference. I only wish I lived closer!!!

"We need to move to SC and within walking distance of this place" were the first words I spoke to my wife after having come down from NJ on a solo trip to see my mom. I landed at the Columbia airport and hopped in the rental to go check this place out before I made my way to my mom's place about 45 min away. I didnt know this was still a carryout or delivery spot until I got there- they have some patio seating but the chairs inside are all stacked to the side. The gentleman at the counter was super polite and mentioned he would he happy to help if I had any questions. Today's menu included bbq popcorn chkn, so I got the plate with that and 4 sides- collard greens, double mac and kidney beans. I was told there were large orders ahead of me and there would be a 30 min wait. Not an issue if you read below- and now I was extra curious! I sat in the car and was texted barely 20 min later that my order was ready. Here we go... I made it about 10 min into my drive before I found a place to just pull over and eat because the aroma of the (what felt like) 5 lb plate was taking over the car! My mouth waters as I write this a day later. This was proper vegan soul food, heck this was proper soul food. Collards were tangy, sweet. salty and melted when you got a forkful. Mac was creamy (i dont care if they were shells, they are just a vessel for flavor), and the kidney beans were spiced just right and the perfect compliment. Chkn was still crispy and tossed just enough in sauce not drowning in it. I got through half the plate (and I have an appetite) before I was plain stuffed. Good thing too because I remembered I was sharing this with my mom when I got home. Euphoria quickly turned into gluttony-remorse but not a bad remorse at all. This food was bangin, slapped, all that, fire, toothsome, bussin' - I would have slapped my momma but I have too much respect (and fear). On a related note, am I the only one that is classically conditioned to salivate when I hold a warm, heavy styrofoam container without even knowing whats inside? You know, when you first hear that styro-squeak as you open the lid, get that first whiff of deliciousness and your eyes first go to the condensation on the inside of the lid as you slowly pan hollywood style to the food in the plate, complete with theatrical glorious music playing? No? Guess its just me. Back to it. If there was even room in the container- all it needed was a slice or two of plain white bread, nothing fancy, sunbeam style is perfect. Summary: RUN here. Don't sweat the prices, portions are huge. Always support local-esp when the product is straight sorcery. Warning: If you are prone to back problems, you may want help lifting the plates. To the owners if you are reading: Please open up in NJ and Thank you!

I think this is the best vegan food I’ve had in a very long time! And I eat a lot of food. My friend dropped me off in the most random part of town while they attend a meeting. Thank God, I found this place. I got the spare ribs with collard greens, macaroni and cheese, which is out of this world and rice and beans. When I tell you that this place is bomb.com trust me. Also, the portions are huge and the pricing is beautiful.

Plant-Based Perfection! Let me start by saying: I'm *still thinking about the "chickin" sandwich from Peace of Soul. As someone who's skeptical of vegan meat substitutes, I was BLOWN AWAY. The seasoning? Absolute perfection. The texture? Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and that CRUNCH.... chef's hat tipped. It's comfort food done right, no compromises. And don't get me started on the mac & cheese--creamy, rich, and so indulgent you'll forget it's dairy-free. How do they do it?! This place is a gem for Columbia locals, but honestly? I wish everyone could experience it. Whether you're vegan or not this is a Columbia MUST!

Yelp
A Peace of Soul has been a staple for years! It's also been one of my go to's for lunch or dinner as the food is always seasoned to perfection and the portions are large enough to share or split into two meals. This morning however, I went to try their breakfast as I've never had it before. Per usual, they knocked it out of the park. The pancakes had a wonderful hint of vanilla and were fluffy. Their chicken, should honestly win some sort of award if it hasn't already. It's always seasoned and flavorful but the crunch is even better than regular chicken. The team here always greets you with a smile and they always do such a great job providing exceptional customer service. I love the murals on the outside of the people and the vibe is always soothing when you walk inside. Love this place and can't to come back again.

Yelp
Drove an hour and a half to try the food out. Had heard great things about it. There is no inside seating, it's all takeout. There were no physical menus but was referred to check them out online for the menu. I ordered the smashburger with mac & cheese and rice. The smashburger was exactly what I expected it to be. The Mac & cheese was a no for me. It def is an acquired taste that's not for me. The rice was ok (bland with no seasoning). We ordered the chicken kung pao which was ok. The collards were the best on that plate. Wanted to try a dessert but there was nothing to choose from besides an oatmeal cream pie left. There were no drink options to choose from but fiji water so while waiting on our food, we drove to the nearest store. Overall it was just ok. I wasn't impressed enough that i'd make another trip to order. I eat vegan food all the time so I was really wishing this was a hit. Although my experience wasn't the greatest, I feel like it could be a hit for someone else so try it if you're in Columbia or are up for the drive.

Yelp
The absolute BEST food in South Carolina is right here! 10/10 across the board: food, customer service, consistency, pricing vs portions, and quality. I tried as much of the menu as I could within my time in the area, but wish I could've tried even more of their breakfast offerings. I enjoyed everything that I had from them, but I certainly had my favorites. My obesessions - CHKN SANDWICHES: I tried the bakon ranch chkn (without the ranch) and the Nashville Hot sandwiches. I was immediately impressed with the chicken patty, which was thin and surrounded by a thick, seasoned breading. Personally, I don't like thick fake meats that are chewy and heavy with gluten. Their execution was perfect in every way. I do wish there was a vegan mayo option, especially for the Nashville hot, but their house sauce was an acceptable substitute. WAFFLE FRIES: Only sold as a side order for @ $7, but the portion is HUGE! Seasoned and fried to perfection, these are a must try! VEGGIE PLATE: You can order a plate with 4-6 options, which is a great way to try several side orders. I loved the purple cabbage, greens, and white/northern beans. The plate is heavy! They do not skimp on the portions and I love it! BREAKFAST: Baby... Fluffy, buttery pancakes, buttery grits, hash browns, scrambled Just Egg, and that bakon, bakon, BAKON. Literally OBSESSED with their bakon! It is THAT delicious, and some of the best vegan bacon that I have ever tasted. Another kudos is that when I purchased extra syrup, it came in a legit size; not 0.02 oz of syrup for $5 (as I've experienced at other spots). DESSERTS: I tried a LOT desserts, y'all. Their cakes give that rare, "Oh My Gosh! This can't be vegan!" reaction. The cakes are moist, soft, and buttery, and the buttercream icing is heavenly sweet. My standout dessert obsessions are 1) CARAMEL CAKE. Best vegan caramel that I have ever had in my 16 years as a vegan. Extremely creamy, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth caramel. Whew! I'm ordering a whole cake next time. 2) KEY LIME PIE. The best key lime pie on earth is right here. That's all I'm gonna say about that there. FRESH JUICES: I was obsessed with the Pineapple Ginger juice and ordered about a dozen of them over time. The ingredients were very fresh and the ginger was strong, just like I like it. The menu changes daily. It's carry-out only, but they have a large outdoor patio area if you'd like to eat onsite. (And there is also a restroom inside to wash your hands first.) You can order online (the preferred method) or inside. Be patient if you don't order ahead of time, because good food takes time. They are popular and they are not microwaving food; the food is freshly prepared. If you're anywhere near the SC (GA, NC, FL, etc), make your way to Peace of Soul Vegan Kitchen, where the SOUL is abundant!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and finally got the chance to. I was not disappointed. I ordered the bbq "spare ribs", with brown rice, mac and cheese, and cabbage. My wife ordered the bbq fried "chicken" sandwich with waffle fries Everything was good and flavorful the cabbage is the best cabbage I ever had from a restaurant. I would definitely try it again.

Yelp
This place is quite limited; still offering takeout only as if lockdowns were still in effect (there are some outdoor tables you can stop at). The hours are pretty limited as well. I was given a pickup time which was a long time in the future but I checked early and they said no they stick to their pickup times, which I guess is good. Still, when I arrived shortly after my text message telling me it was ready, I pulled out my sandwich to get a fresh taste and it was already a bit soggy like it had been sitting around for a bit. In finishing the rest later, liquid from my sides had completely overwhelmed the bun, so it wasn't packaged that well. I ordered a Nashville Hot vegan chicken sandwich. I've had such an item in Nashville and I was hoping this place would be similar, but it was not. The sauce was tangy more than spicy; maybe they should call it a Buffalo style. The fake meat itself was supposedly wheat and soy and it didn't really work for me. It had a stringy texture as if trying to duplicate a fibrous quality, but at the same time it didn't taste like a whole lot. The ordering gave me the option to check a box to leave off the pickles but they didn't do that. For sides, they don't include fries, which have to be ordered separately. And I ordered some collard greens and purple cabbage aiming for something a little healthier. These were actually quite good; the sweetish cabbage and the slightly spicy collard greens gave more credit to the concept of vegan soul food than did my actual entree. The place seemed to be doing good business and I'm all for the mix of southern culture and plant-based food, but this place didn't quite succeed on any level for me.

Yelp
Visited recently and had the chicken sandwich and fried okra. The chicken sandwich in size and the side of okra in size were a great value for the price. I was not able to finish either one in the same sitting. The restaurant is still doing limited hours with Togo orders only no indoor dining. Would be nice to see them get back to dine in as that's when the food is more enjoyable because I have about a 15-20 min drive back home. The chicken sandwich and okra were both a little on the greasy side this time but did have a good flavor. Instead of ordering the large next time I think I will try the slider.

Yelp
This place is well deserving of being listed as one of the top vegan restaurants in the nation. Their friendly service is top tier and the food!? The food... phenomenal! We got the bbq spare ribs over brown rice with Mac and cheese, collards and cabbage. My daughter got a plate of sides and we are fork fighting over the Mac and cheese. It is absolutely delicious.

Yelp
The food taste really good. I ordered a chicken slider and okra. The have great service. Good vibes Very welcomey. after you order. You wait outside for your food and they will text you when the food is ready. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
I first tried Peace of Soul when I worked in this state a few years back. They had a food truck at the time and I stopped by on my lunch break. The food was good years ago and still stands true to this day! I was excited to see they now have a store front which is amazing! They do not offer dine in, only carry out orders. There is a patio outside you can sit at, or you can eat in your car. Ordering was super quick and easy. The staff is always friendly and helpful if you have any questions about the menu. They do switch their menu daily so you have the opportunity to try different meals. We ordered the Kung Pao plate with cabbage, brown rice and macaroni. We also ordered the fried chicken slider, sloppy Joe slider, and a strawberry limeade to drink. Everything on the kung pao chicken plate was really good. The chicken itself had a nice flavor to it. The cabbage was good, but had a sweetness to it which wasn't my preference but my mom loved it. The macaroni and brown rice were also really good. The macaroni had a smoky taste to it which my mom also loved (FYI, this was her plate lol). I had the sloppy Joe slider which had to be my favorite. I've tried my hand at recreating a vegan sloppy Joe slider and this was way better than mine! The fried chicken slider was pretty good as well, nicely seasoned. And lastly the strawberry limeade was nice and sweet but not too sugary. Overall everything was really good. There aren't a ton of vegan spots in the Columbia area so Peace of Soul, and the handful we have are a God sent! Will definitely be back when I'm back in town.

Yelp
It was lovely celebrating the a peaceful soul top 100 in the Carolina's restaurant achievement. They currently only have carry out and some outdoor seating. I will advise you to order ahead on the app and to make collection more simple. I was pleasantly surprised by the sizes of the portions. My friend had the burger which she has had before and enjoyed. As it was my first time I opted for a side of popcorn "chicken" which was labelled gluten free and fries which were both delicious. My reason for the 4 stars is that although labelled gluten free it was not completely gf. The cashier warned that they may have cross contamination. I risked it because I've been good and my symptoms would be mild if I had an issue.

Yelp
I was in town for work and decided go give this place a try and I am so glad I did!!! I got the spicy chicken sandwich with cabbage and Mac and cheese. When I say this was the best vegan meal I've had in forever. The chicken was so juicy and the cabbage was slightly sweet but not overwhelming. The Mac and cheese had a slight smoky flavor that made everything just come together. The gentleman that assisted me with my pick up order was also super sweet and helpful. A+++ will come by again next time I'm in town!

Yelp
I came here for a Yelp event and thoroughly enjoyed my food so much that I wanted to give them another try. I ordered online and was given about a 25 minute wait time for pickup. This was fine as I had to drive downtown to get my food. About 5 minutes later, I received a text stating my food was ready. When I arrived, I was directed to the tables and I found my bag. Just like the last time, my food was delicious. I am not a major fan of vinegar in my greens, but this was tolerable. I ordered double collards. When I got home, I shared some with my son and he was definitely surprised! He enjoyed it as well. But he is like me with the vinegar in collards. The building and sign is visible from Main. They do not have dine-in options. They ask you to wait in your car for your order. Very clean establishment. The staff is great!

Yelp
The staff was friendly and my food was delicious. The Fried Oyster Mushroom Po Boy was my favorite, the next time I visit I want to try the red cabbage & chicken sandwich.

Yelp
I drive from Fort Mill SC to Columbia SC -The food is absolutely delicious!! I have yet to experience a meal that didn't meet my expectations. Kudos to the owner and staff for their outstanding customer service!

Yelp
Great Food! The BBQ chicken was delicious. You really couldn't taste the difference from real chicken. I also ordered a side of Okra that was pretty good. I would definitely go back. The employees are super friendly. They also have outside seating on the patio if you'd like to dine outside. If you want some healthy food, try this place.

Yelp
What a great treasure of a find at Peace of Soul Vegan Kitchen. I will say this I am a meat eater, but this place will definitely make you a vegan believer. I had to try their famous Chicken sandwich and when I say you couldn't tell me that wasn't meat! The amazing sides will make you come back for more! The collard greens were top tier! Plus the spicy ginger okra will make you happy to eat your vegetables! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I'm so glad we gave this place a try--I don't know what magic they have going on in the kitchen, but the fried soy chicken on my sandwich stayed crispy for the 15 minutes it took me to get to my destination and throughout my meal. It wasn't at all greasy, the soy chicken had a great texture, the seasoning was flavorful, the sauce on it was great, and although I was very full by the time I finished the sandwich, I wanted more! I am thrilled that the sides weren't spicy; up in my neck of the woods (Tennessee), vegan food tends to also be hot, which I am too much of a wimp to enjoy. The collards and red cabbage were awesome. The mac and cheese was a nice creamy texture; I liked it as its own thing, but wouldn't say the flavor (kind of nutty, has the tang of nutritional yeast) is close to dairy mac and cheese. I was happy with it. They are operating on to-go and online orders only, but everything was piping hot and in perfect condition when we got it home. I'm envious that my best friend has access to this place all the time, I will certainly hit them up next time I'm visiting!

Yelp
I just had to update my initial review considering I had WAYYY more pictures of the deliciousness that is A Peace of Soul. This place is literally vegan soul food made with nothing but soul and love. Do yourself a favor and go! My new goal: get the desserts. They're always sold out by the time I order food.

Yelp
I was in town this past weekend and found this spot on Yelp. It led to a rabbit hole to their Instagram and once I realized how close I was, I hurried up and ordered lunch as I had just missed breakfast. I love how it's mobile order options and pick up only. When you order online you get a confirmation, then a text once your food is ready and you walk in to your food packaged and waiting on a table with your name on it. So convenient and the vibe is cute inside as well. It's cool that the menu changes daily. I wanted to try the popcorn "Chickn" but bbq Chickn was on the menu so I had that w/3 sides. Everything was delicious. They didn't have any silverware in my bag so I had to eat some with my hands as I was traveling lol! Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Elyse H.

Yelp
Ok seriously how have I missed this place?!?! So amazing! I tried a fried "chicken" slider. Ommmmmgggggg. So good! I instantly regretted not getting two. It was ready in a timely manner, and the staff was super friendly. This place is a must try!

Yelp
So, I had the opportunity to try this place because of Yelp's generosity. But, in truth, I had been meaning to try this place, because a coworker is vegan and orders from them frequently. I decided to try the veggie plate, because I just wasn't in the mood for the special "meat" of the day which was "fried chicken ". I read a few great reviews for their Mac and cheese, so I decided to try it. I'll admit, I was very disappointed. The macaroni was way overcooked and mushy. The flavor of the "cheese" sauce was nice, and interesting, but it was totally ruined by the mushy pasta. The collard greens were tasty and a bit tart, so I think they added a hint of vinegar which I love. (I always put pepper vinegar on my greens) I also tried the purple cabbage. It was a bit sweet and had a slightly pickled flavor, but was really tasty and I loved the texture. The cabbage wasn't overcooked and I loved that. My next pick was the black beans, and I wish I had just ordered the beans and some rice because they were AWESOME! I totally love my legumes, and I'm sure they will knock it out of the park with any variety, just based on this one trial!

Yelp
I drove over an hour to try this and it was worth the drive. I ordered ahead online, so that it would be ready when I arrived. I ordered the Kung Pao "chicken", collard greens, mac and cheese, and purple cabbage. I couldn't decide what dessert I wanted and decided to try the lemon cake and chocolate brownie. They provide generous portions and you will have plenty of leftovers. The sauce on the Kung Pao was delicious. The meat substitute reminded me of chicken. I loved that the vegetable were seasonsed differently. I liked the mac and cheese but I'm not a big fan of nutritional yeast. The lemon cake was my absolute favorite. The lemon flavor wasn't overpowering, the icing was perfect, and the cake was moist. The chocolate brownie reminded me of cake instead of a brownie consistency. It was a light brown color and I couldn't taste any chocolate but only the almond flavor. It was a good cake. They had great customer service. I was able to go to the pickup line to get my order. The inside is spacious; however, seating was not available. There were tables but the chairs were stacked against the wall. Since it was a beautiful day, I sat outside. Also, the parking lot is small, so you may need to park on the side or behind the building. The menu varies daily, I would suggest you check online before you go. They also offer breakfast items during specific times in the morning. Overall, it was a great experience and I can't wait to try other items.

Yelp
This place was recommended by the legendary David Banner on instagram. I was in town so I definitely wanted to try. Parking can be tricky, the parking lot is tight but there is side parking and I think parking in the back. Once parked, the experience from start to finish was OUTSTANDING. We were greeted warmly and the restaurant was super clean. This restaurant is currently take out only. This was my first time there, the staff there explained the selections and gave recommendations on the top selections, but explained that it's all good. He asked my name and even asked if it was spelled with a "C" or "K" for clarity in my takeout order. He took my number and told me that he would text me when my food was ready. It was a steady flow of customers and the customer service was impeccable for each of us. They had nice music playing in the background, creating a whole vibe as you wait. The wait time was not long and the food was hot and tasty. The consistency and flavors were PERFECT. If someone would have told me this was vegan, I would have called them a liar. The red cabbage and collards though!!!!!! Yes! Perfect. Actually all of it was. Moderately priced for the amount of food they give you. This place is amazing. This is good food. This place is on my go to list for sure. Bravo!

Yelp
This has always been my favorite vegan restaurant for quite sometime now! They're always delicious, fresh, and never disappoint on taste and service. On this particular day they had the oyster mushroom Poboy which was awesome. Their menu changes daily so sometimes you never know what she has until the day of. Service: 10 Food: 10 Location: 9 Cleanliness: 10 Pickup/To go orders only. There is currently no dine-in Pros: Black owned and Vegan Cons: Parking is a hassle because the parking lot is small. Also the menu changes everyday and if you're going in for your favorite meal, it may not be an option for that day.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! The price is worth it because you get SO much food!!! It was hands down the best vegan chicken sandwich I've ever had! My husband, who was raised in the south, said it was the best collard greens he's ever had! We moved here from Portland and miss all the vegan restaurants. We went here with a lot of hope it would be great but there isn't many options in town... so it had the possibility of being hit or miss to us. DID NOT LET US DOWN!!! Hehe Also, the gentleman working at the counter was very kind!

Yelp
Top of the line in customer service, which is rare lately! I always love my food, but the breakfast is Amazing; I highly recommend checking them out.

Yelp
I just had to try this place out! I follow them on IG. And with COVID going on, I don't go to Columbia much, if at all. Surprisingly, they opened on a Sunday when they're usually closed! I was literally their last customer of the day. I missed out on the "chicken" & waffles. I settled for the Sesame chicken, greens, and Mac & Cheese! They ran out of Sesame Chicken, so they gave me Mandarin Chicken and a slice of cake for my troubles... good peoples! They're carry out only, so I took my plate back to the car! I couldn't wait til I got home to sample, so I ate some in the parking lot. Ohhh man it was good! The "chicken" was tasty, the brown rice was filling, the greens were seasoned well and the mac&cheese was on point. I'm not a vegan, but I e we I'll definitely eat here again! The cake was just "ok". A little too dry for my liking.

Yelp
My all time favorite vegan restaurant! I couldn't let 2021 go without ordering my New Years Tray. The order online and pick up inside process is easy and efficient. I started 2021 off with their black eyed peas, collards, and nuggets and I'm doing the same for 2022. Also picking up a kung pao "chicken" and some strawberry lemonade for the ride back to Aiken. Yes. I drive the 50 minutes here and back at least once a month to eat here. Love it!

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious and seasoned just right. Great customer service and the young man upfront was very polite and knowledgeable about the various food on the menu.

Yelp
Living in the south I've had a lot of southern food and this hands-down regardless of vegan or not is the best southern food I've ever had in my life. The macaroni is so creamy and delicious and perfect with just the right amount of spice, The collards or treated perfectly and cooked even more perfect if that could be a thing... The chicken tastes just like chicken it's amazing it's fried to perfection the gravy is perfect as well... I realized I said perfect way too many times in this review but it is nothing short from perfect I have absolutely nothing bad to say! OK maybe I have one thing.....the parking needs help but otherwise this place is absolutely flawless! I will scream it to the roof tops EVERYONE NEEDS TO TRY THIS DELICIOUS FOOD!!!

Yelp
Just made my third trip ever here and the food continues to exceed expectations. This time I caught them right at closing, and they were kind enough to not let my thirty seconds of lateness work against me (parking was troublesome!). One of my fave things about Peace of Soul is the people. I always get treated right. So, the food. Man oh manischewitz! I've had the fried chicken sandwich twice in a row and it gets better every time. I mean, its so tasty, so well prepared, and so filling. The pretzel bun is a great touch, and the its always soft enough, unlike other pretzel buns at other establishments. The greens are also fiyah, and they pair well with the mac & cheese, but really, with anything else. On my first visit I had the red cabbage, curry potatoes, and I believe the drumsticks, with brown rice. All so delicious. The sweetie had the burger and fries, which I also had some bites of and totally enjoyed. When I'm in Columbia, this is a must have!

Yelp
When you click on the website, it pops up with a closed for renovations message & information on their Food Truck, which was located in the parking lot of the restaurant. Check their IG for schedules & menus. Simple menu of Fried Chicken Sandwich & BBQ Rib Bites, with sides - Brown Rice, Collards, Purple Cabbage, Mac & Cheese, Candied Yams & Black Beans. I got one of each protein, all sides except the Cabbage & Beans with an order of Waffle Fries coming to $25...good portions & taste. No beverages, takes credit cards, sells T-Shirts...looking forward to the re-opening.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Columbia! I love their breakfasts. I just wish they had a few more veggie side options to enjoy. Friendly. Easy order and pick up. Try their okra and their grits.

Yelp
I wrote this recently because I was signed into someone else's account accidentally.... Anyway, thought I'd include it where it belongs: How....just HOW have I never reviewed Peace of Soul before!? Peace of soul has a piece of my soul honestly. This is especially true on the rare occasion that they have "chicken" and waffles on Sundays. I remember when I wasn't eating chicken at all and I was eating the vegan "chicken" sammies here weekly and making all of my friends and colleagues try them with me so they would KNOW they could be a little more meatless. Never a complaint. Everything is really good. They've really amped up take-out after COVID. I was very appreciative that they kept the public in the know about their masking policies and procedures. With their online ordering now, everything is much faster. This place is so clean and everyone is go kind. It's also black owned, which I love to see. I do not love the vegan mac, but I know many others who do, so it's probably just my unwillingness to give up cheese yet. Maybe one day? Until this, I'll waffle fry and greens it up!

Yelp
Our church is participating in the Daniel Fast and its so refreshing to know Falomi and her restaurant have selections to cater to our dietary restrictions. Now somehow manna fell from heaven in the form of a vegan chicken tender in my container. If she was here I would have had to "slap" her on general principle! :) Better than any real piece of chicken you will ever try! Blessings, Chris Leevy

Yelp
Amazing vegan soul food. You must try the banana pudding cake. Also, the customer service was great. Will definitely stop again when visiting the area.

Yelp
Food is good some of the best vegan food. I've tasted, a bit pricey. The guy who takes your order comes across somewhat rude. You need to call ahead for your order.no dine in and walk-in are not recommended. The website needs to be updated. Undecided, if I will return?

Yelp
My friends have been telling me about this place for years and that it was worth a day trip (from the LowCountry). Well I just moved to Columbia and Peace of Soul has become apart of my lunch trips. As my origins aren't in the south, I never had the chance to try these southern soul food dishes bc pork in everything! I have had a lot of fun trying these side dishes at Peace of Soul. My absolute favorite is the Mac and cheese. I have never been a fan of vegan cheese substitutes but this Mac and cheese stays creamy if you have next day left overs. I am fairly certain it's cashew based. It's got a slight nuttiness and savory flavor profile which is what I'm all about. The food has never dissatisfied, and though I order ahead and go in to grab and go (it's still a pick up only establishment as of the time I'm writing this), the people working always greet me cheerfully and I appreciate that.

Yelp
They were at the Pan African Fest this past Saturday at the Robert Mills House. The event was awesome with lots of vendors and food choices. A Peace of Soul had their food truck there. I only tried the collard greens, they were seasoned well with vinegar. The serving size was a fair portion for price. The other 2 entrees were examples of of the food they were serving. Customer service was fast and professional. I will try the store front downtown Columbia soon! Ive hard great thing about the food, so yes will try more items next time.

Yelp
Eating here was wonderful, something like a miracle. I'm a 20 + year vegan from Austin TX. I recently tried this vegan restaurant after filming. All I can say is WOW. First, the customer service was amazing he explained the menu and how everything worked. I got the chicken sandwich with 2 sides, spare ribs plate and (YES) one of every dessert they had. Remember me :o)... I'm pushing back my 18 hour drive back to TX just to try another meal, sides and more desserts. This place truly is heaven dancing deliciously on my taste buds. Thank you

Yelp
This place is so delicious! My favorite is the breakfast menu. Probably the best French toast I've ever had. I try making it at home but this place has it down to a science. I've been vegan almost 10 years and they have impressed me.

Yelp
There is nothing I could say about this place that is bad at all. I am personally not a vegan, but I enjoyed everything so much! I couldn't even tell that it wasn't even real chicken. The service was quick and I was greeted so kindly. I hate that the inside isn't open, because the vibes are so nice inside. I will definitely be back to try more items!

Yelp
Peace of Soul Kitchen is a delicious vegan restaurant that is never a disappointment . I have been eating here since 2011, everything is a delight.
