Discover massive Jewish deli sandwiches at A Taste of Katz's in DeKalb Market Hall, where iconic pastrami reigns supreme in a bustling setting.
"To be clear, this is not a full-on Katz’s. It’s A Taste of Katz’s—in other words, a kiosk serving a truncated menu of the iconic Lower East Side deli’s fan faves. Maybe it’s the subterranean setting, or maybe it’s the fact that there isn’t a dedicated hot dog station, but the food at this outpost doesn't seem quite as impressive at first glance. And yet, we’d consume a towering pastrami sandwich from here in a heartbeat. This is not a light lunch, but it is an elite one." - neha talreja, will hartman, bryan kim, willa moore
"More like A Tease of Katz’s. This stall in Downtown Brooklyn’s subterranean DeKalb Market Hall offers a brief selection of the famous Lower East Side deli’s greatest hits. If you’re looking for a quality sandwich, it gets the job done, but we can’t help but feel that the pastrami is a little fresher and thicker at the original location. It’s also a little strange that the sides, like potato salad and coleslaw, are only available in half-quart quantities. Still, we’ll take a tease—awkwardly large portion sizes and all—over nothing." - Bryan Kim
"The deli was famously featured in a scene where Ryan’s Sally fakes an orgasm. On July 12, there will be an orgasm scene reenactment contest in the restaurant. Then, on July 24, the deli is partnering with Alamo Drafthouse in Downtown Brooklyn for a one-night screening of the movie. Tickets will include bites from Katz’s, and there will be pastrami and corned beef carving stations at the theater. The deli is also currently selling a $135 When Harry Met Sally package, which includes Harry’s order (pastrami on rye), Sally’s order (turkey sandwich), as well as a t-shirt, a tote bag, and pins." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
