Yelp
First: Abuelita's is Luna Azul, just going through a rebrand currently
As a native San Diegan (and Seattle transplant), I must admit that this Mexican food is authentic, extremely delicious, and just like if you went to your Abuela's house on a Sunday with cousins running around and Tias spilling the chisme.
Pros:
- Salsa bar. The most variety of salsas you have ever seen (even where I grew up) including a sweet habenero that was like nothing I've ever tried before, and extremely fresh and delicious. You can even hear the blender in the back making more for guests.
- fresh chips & guacamole. Amazing
- Al pastor to die for. I'm a huge Al pastor & adobada fan, and this stuff is legit.
- the friendliest and kindness staff, who love the restaurant and sharing food with guests. Awesome folks.
What may need changing:
- the price man. $19 for a 4 taco plate with rice and beans is insane, I feel like a reduction to the $12-15 range for the same dish would bring in a lot more business. It's worth the cost, but hot damn I heard my Abuela screaming when she saw that price.
- Specials when they can, would love to see a $1 street taco day (Tuesday usually) that would have the restaurant selling out.
Overall, 5 star service, food, decor, and people. Come here!!!!
