"Acme is a classic, founded in 1983 in Berkeley, and supplying dozens of restaurants around the Bay, including Chez Panisse. Steven and Suzie Sullivan started out with only one levain, sweet, light, and crisp. And you’ll still find it on many restaurant tables, ideal for smearing with local cheese or dunking in garlicky cioppino." - Lauren Saria, Becky Duffett

When I was a school kid. I would always trade my lunch with the kid who had a sandwich made from acme bread. Serving award winning bread since 1983; I recommend the sourdough, Challah, cheddar biscuits, cross buns, and did I mention the day old bread is half off! There's typically a line out the door but once you get inside the door area the staff are so friendly it's hard to stay annoyed by that.

Great breads, pizza, and baked goods. All of the breads are delicious, and prices are reasonable too! I recommend the pizza, hella wet baguette, and olive bread. The pastries are also excellent, but I would not consider them to be a shop specialty. There is always a line unless you get to Acme at opening -- expect to wait in line at least 10-15 minutes at most times of the day, and more during peak hours. The front parking lot does not have many spaces, so it can be difficult to park there. There is a second parking lot behind the building with more space, or alternatively there should be street parking nearby. If you buy ahead in the morning, you can usually reserve a $5.99 bag (from Too Good To Go) for pickup in the afternoon. The bags usually contain 1-2 loaves/baguettes and 2-4 smaller rolls/buns, most of which will be white or sourdough based. Remember to buy a pastry item if you get the bag!

Google
Outstanding breads, pizza, and so much more for takeout only. Sure there’s a line but the product is outstanding.

Google
Acme Bread easily takes the award for best bread shop in the Bay Area. In fact, lots of other restaurants specifically buy their bread from here for their own food so you know it’s going to be good. This location is their main retail and bake shop but the inside is small so people will line up in the parking lot. The line moves fast so don’t be turned off. Inside, all the options are delicious but their sourdoughs and baked treats are my favorite. Depending on when you go in the day they also bake their own pizza slices on focaccia bread which are a whole other level of delicious with fresh and local ingredients. All the prices are great which easily makes this a place I’ll be coming back to often.

Google
In one word - awesome! Extremely tasty bread ( cranberry, baguette, etc.) . Don't give up tasting the blueberry tiny cake or the peach triangle-shape cake. Huge queue of people outside the store - only solution is to come as they open at 8AM (Sunday at 8:30) but it worth it! I ate in great bakeries in Israel and France and this one is clearly in the top three.

Samuel Liddicott

Google
Writing this in the parking lot because it was so good. Delicious bread and a range of awesome pastries. The smell alone is worth it and to quote a regular who we spoke to 'everything here is great.' The staff here are immensely helpful and polite and helped us select different flavors of savory bread. If I lived local I'd be coming here often for the pure joy of delicious bread.

Marya Dawn

Google
Fantastic bread. You stand in line and then two at a time, you get your chance to order. Once inside, it smells amazing. I wish they had a vegan treat, but it's better for my waistline that they don't. Vegans can get a few of the breads.

Judith

Google
The addiction of fresh baked goods is on high whenever I pick up delights from here. Crispy Fendu rolls to their mouth watering pizzas. It's so hard to not walk out with both hands excitingly, gripping bags of goodness!

Gemma W.

Yelp
Best bread in the whole world. No joke. If I could eat their rustic rolls every day of my life I would. Every time I am in SF I go to the ferry building to buy a big bag of rolls and am a better person because of it. I tell every single person I know visiting/living in SF about Acme - a MUST visit for bread and pastry lovers.

Yelp
We're regular weekly buyers of old world breads for a quick and healthy breakfast. We usually get Acme at Whole Foods, usually the Cranberry Walnut (good value as the loaf is bigger, and nice to have whole grain) or the Pain au Levain (one of their most popular products with decent flavor just enjoying it on its own). Olive bread is also delicious and one of the few on the market using green olives. Prices have gone up over time but the quality and taste is still top notch. And we really miss Acme when traveling outside Bay Area.

Yelp
America, I love you, I chose to live here and make it my home for the last twenty years, but you are rubbish at bread. My interest was piqued when I saw this place listed as #2 best baguette on the West Coast on a Yelp article especially as it is just a couple of miles away from my house. I've had Acme bread before and found it to be good but not great, but that was always in a supermarket situation and maybe the bread wasn't super fresh but buoyed with enthusiasm after reading the reviews I made an afternoon trip to check out their items from the source. The place is lovely, I thought it was a good sign that they sell organic bread flour and whilst their produce is not fully organic, they do use this flour in their products. I bought a Pain d'Epi, a Pain de Mie and a cinnamon twist. The Pain d'Epi was the only baguette adjacent option, it uses the same dough fashioned to look like an ear of wheat as I didn't want sourdough. I will say this in Paris it would have been a solid 6/10 which may sound like a bit of shade or damnation with faint praise, and it kinda is, but contextually for American bread it was a solid 9. The Pain de Mie was even better, I am excited to have it accompany my sausage sandwich for breakfast tomorrow. The cinnamon twist was disappointing, it was a bit dry and didn't have a particularly good lamination. Oh, I also picked up a cookie as part of their fund raiser for a local charity, my husband said it was good. So yes, the fact that a bakery in this fine nation can get four stars is quite an achievement. I will be back here on a weekday morning when the lines aren't so out of hand and the baguettes are freshly baked. Maybe that'll push them into five-star territory?

Yelp
Acme Bread is one of my favorite bakeries in the bay! If you're a Berkeley student or live nearby, Acme is definitely worth the trek. The store front is very small. There is room for one person inside at a time, so most of the line is outside. There is almost always a line when I come here, but it moves pretty quickly. There is a small parking lot and street parking nearby. They have so many amazing bread loaves and pastries. As a cheese lover, my favorites are the cheddar biscuits and the cheese twists. No matter what I'm there for, I'll usually add one of those to my order to eat in the car because I know I can't wait until I'm home. Don't let the line scare you! You won't regret visiting this classic Berkeley establishment.

Andrew S.

Yelp
One of my favorite bakery/bread companies in the bay area, hands down. There are ALWAYS new baked goods to try and rotating/seasonal items as well. I'm not a big fan of gingerbread cookies, but oh myyyyy highly recommend the one here using real ginger! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by the enticing aroma of freshly baked bread, and it's clear that this bakery takes pride in every loaf they produce. The variety here is impressive, ranging from classic sourdoughs to unique specialties like their rustic pain au levain and walnut levain. Each loaf boasts a perfectly crispy crust and a tender, flavorful crumb that keeps me coming back for more. The sourdough baguette is a personal favorite of mine, with its perfect balance of tangy and savory flavors. The quality and consistency of Acme Bread are unparalleled, making it a staple in the local community and beyond. I also like to check out their daily "day old bread" menu, you get day old bread for almost 50% off, such a steal! Whether you're picking up a loaf for a special occasion or just indulging in a daily bread habit, Acme Bread Company is the go-to spot. It's a bakery that truly embodies the art of bread making, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Trust.

Lauren C.

Yelp
Learned about this place after going to Cal. Good selection of rustic breads-my fave is the cranberry walnut loaf. The bread still tastes great even when frozen and retoasted. Long line on a Sunday afternoon-however there is a small lot infront which is super convenient. For convenience I'll probably stick to getting their stuff at Berkeley bowl unless I'm more in the area of their shop.

Lisa T.

Yelp
Absolutely superb breads, be it a baguette, epi, wheat loaf, you name it. Worth waiting in line for. In the rain, even.

Karen N.

Yelp
If you drive on San Pablo in the morning, you'll always see a line of people snaking around the corner in front of Acme Bread. It looks like something from a Soviet-era photo of food lines. Determined to see why people were lining up in the absence of rationing, I tried Acme out. And yeah, it's definitely worth it. French baguette with crisp outside and chewy yet soft innards. Baked sourdoughs that make perfect sandwiches. Yum. Now you can get Acme bread at nearly any Whole Foods in the area so why line up? Well, you're getting it one or two days fresher and when you're talking about fresh baked natural bread without a whole lot of chemical stabilizers in it, it's worth getting fresh out of the oven. And unlike Moscow in the 1970s, you don't have to battle cold winters to get your bread. The line does move fairly quickly. There's parking behind Acme if the front lot is full.

Stefan T.

Yelp
The neighbors next door gifted me my first loaves. Olive and cranberry and walnut. Its sort of like the marketing tactics that drug dealers use. One bite and you will be hooked for life. Its simply the best bread on this side of the bay. The combination of varieties and flavors along with bake quality makes it outstanding. I like to cut open the bread and examine the air bubbles. I like even spacing and uniformity - this stacks up to Tartine. Flavor and crust is there too. On this latest visit I got the squash pizza, Edible Schoolyard, Challah and the BAR Marble cookie which I believe if you consume ends racism dead in its tracks. The squash pizza was a little cold but was still good. I liked best all the different seasoning flavors on it. Usually I'm used to some of the best pizza in the city like Flour and Water and as a pizza snob I can assure there are better pizza options around. Edible Schoolyard was very special. I got the last loaf and when something sells out that says something. Crunchy flavorful crust. Tasted delicious yet you know its for the health conscious. Its something you need to try. Challah was very pretty all braided and could be had with sesame seeds of poppy seeds. I think little kids would love this bread. Easy to eat and crust not so crunchy. Seniors with dentures might opt for this type as well. BAR Marble cookie was donation to end racism. Wow, how can you go wrong eating a cookie that ends racism!? It was black and white marble and had some chocolate and topped with some coarse salt that is a trick of the trade. Olive loaf and Cranberry Walnut are still probably my favorites. I get them all the time at Whole Foods. There are more choices at this store than your local grocery store but the convenience of picking it up at WF is a dollar or two? more expensive. There was a substantial line when I went. The older ladies that were complimenting each other's outfit were worried the pizza would sell out. One older lady was boasting that her shoes were good for a classy night out all the way to walking and dirty garden work. Make some new friends while in line... why not? Construction workers on their lunch breaks, senior citizens who demand a good deal, and suits alike were all here. Mass appeal to all. For budget minded individuals there was also a list of day old bread. I didn't get any but I assume its a great price... and if you gently toast day old bread it is still very very good. A great gift for those friends that have never tried it. Warning though - it might be an expensive addiction once you try it.

Yelp
It is always a treat to have Acme bread. I don't eat much bread, so I never picked up bread at the bakery until I saw it on the "Too Good To Go" app. The pickup time was reasonable. My surprise bag had several different types of bread. The only disadvantage was that I wasn't sure which bread I had in my bag in case I wanted to go back and just buy that bread. The lines are long and they do not cut the bread for you. I definitely lack bread-slicing skills, never the less, I was able to cut my loaves into some semblance of a slice of bread. I put everything in the freezer and was able to enjoy tasty if not pretty bread.

Sam G.

Yelp
I don't usually write reviews like this but a while ago, my daughter got diagnosed with celiacs disease. She loved Acme and I went in to ask if they offer gluten free options. The sales person said they would ask their manager, who came out and lectured me about Acme being a "real bakery"- therefore not having gluten free options.. So rude and unnecessary!

Martin W.

Yelp
Prepare to wait - and you sure will not be disappointed. There are always some kind of lines when we go to acme bread and there is a good reason for it. It's hard to get such a variety of good bread, rolls and even a bit of pastry around town. And when I say town I mean San Francisco. They have a branch in pier 1 but we always took the extra way towards Berkely - the bread selection here is even better. Also acme is one of the few that offers different kind of whole wheat breads and even rolls. For me - I always feel like a kid in a candy store. I should not tell you that but it's worth every minute you wait - and I should not tell you that since when you listen the time I'll have to be in line next time will even be longer :)

Janet T.

Yelp
I love all the yummy bread and pastries here! There was a line at the door, but goes by fast. I waited for about 15 minutes before I was able to order. I had wanted to get the Almond Croissant, but the lady in front of me took the last three. All well, next time. But I was able to get a variety of different pastries and savories. If I am around Berkeley area, this is the bakery I would stop by and get some goodies before I head home. If you never been, you should definitely check it out!

Etsuko K.

Yelp
A local feature and destination. I adore this bakery and have for years. It can take some time to get through the line, but the reward includes the most delectable bread. I love love the cheddar green onion biscuits, my kids always get the cheddar twists, and we often will get an herb slab or walnut currant loaf. Take your pick though, so so so many choices and I would imagine they are all so good.

Johanna V.

Yelp
I brought my friends from out of town to try ACME bread and they ended up obsessed!! I loved this place from trying it at farmers markets and such so I knew I had to bring them to the store front. Staff were 10/10 very helpful in guiding my friends to make the right pastry choices. My friends highly recommend the apricot biscuit. They loved it so much that they were upset that ACME doesn't have a store where they're from.

Debbie F.

Yelp
Fantastic bakery not to be missed! The cinnamon currant walnut bread is amazing! Pizza squares so good!

Dev R.

Yelp
Super speedy service. Amazing sweet and savory items. Two pizza slices make a great meal. Cute small bakery inside but lots of other nice places to eat nearby. Amazing selection and very hard to go wrong. Personal favorites: - dark chocolate raspberry mini - thyme pizza - apricot biscuit

Scarlet S.

Yelp
Best bread in the east bay!!! Affordable and nice staff. Sometimes lines but well worth the wait

Jasmine W.

Yelp
I cannot rave more about Acme Bread Company - love the story, service, and, most importantly, every single bread, pastry, and pizza slice that comes out of here. I went to undergrad and grad school at Cal and adore the Bay Area food culture, which Acme Bread epitomizes. It's a tiny hole in the wall, wait outside in a line kind of place - I always go in only wanting a few items and end up leaving with so many more - and never have any regrets (except maybe wishing I bought more!). Definitely grab one of their crusty breads - the hella wet is amazing - and also recommend their fresh fruit pastries (just had their peach puff pastry) and pizza squares (happily enjoyed their mushroom pesto, although wished they would've heated it up for us).

Anny H.

Yelp
Food: I am not a big bread person but decided to try this place out, we got a whole haul of maybe 15-20 items the first time and everything was so good! My partner loves bread (his guilty pleasure bc high calorie carbs) and he could not stop eating them, he kept nibbling on the rye bread and the whole loaf was basically gone within a day but my favorite is their focaccia pizza, they rotate in flavors and I love the tomato one the most, the lime is a runner up and sometimes it can be a bit oily as they just drizzle oil on top Service: Very friendly service, most of the time you will have to wait in line for a bit because they're very popular, sometimes up to an hour wait, but if you like fresh bread it's worth it! Ambiance: It's superr tiny inside or at least the counter where you order, and they help up to 2 customers at a time. You can see the kitchen and them making bread and there's display shelves of all the different breads they have. It has a farmers market feel to them and feels much better than buying processed bread at the grocery store. Overall would definitely keep coming back when I'm in the area!

Stephanie V.

Yelp
The Acme Bread Company @acmebreadberkeley is ubiquitous in the Bay Area. Any high quality café or restaurant will be using Acme bread for service if not baking in-house. This fact alone speaks to the high quality and the taste of the bread. To pick up your own custom order of pastries and breads, just show up at one of the brick and mortar locations and stand in line outside. One customer is allowed in at a time and you must move quickly so get that order ready while you are waiting. Everything looks so delicious, it is so hard to choose or limit yourself. Good thing we had a large group for which to buy. The Cinnamon Currant Walnut Bread and the Apple Tart tied for first in my heart. Mmmmm, You just need to taste this bread - buttery, crusty, soft, fresh, the sour apples in the tart perfectly balanced against the subtle sweetness and butter. my sis collaborated with pictures and video while we goofed off with our chosen breads at our Airbnb in the hills overlooking the Bay & Golden Gate Bridge. Fresh baked bread and pastry heaven!

Angela Y.

Yelp
I walked here in the rain and I have to say it's so worth it. The mushroom pesto pizza was fresh out of the oven and the guy in the front convinced me to get it. Honestly it didn't take much convincing at all. Haha. The crust was a still a little crunchy, it was warm, the toppings were delicious, and the bread part of a bit chewy. Just how I like it! I will definitely be getting this again. I also go the cheddar biscuit and that was also super good. Great flavor and a little crunchy in the outside and soft in the middle. The guy in the front was also so nice! Very polite! There was a line forming out the door but it didn't take too long to get to the front. It gives me time to decide what I want! There are so many tasty looking things. I'll definitely be back to try more things!

John D.

Yelp
what the long lines!to get into the tight quarters are worth the wait. Everything we've had has been delish. what more needs to be said!

Tom B.

Yelp
Pricey but excellent bread and stuff... you can get it at various markets but freshest is still at their store, where people start lining up way before they even open. Well worth the wait and once you get in it goes quickly. To speed things up they didn't take cash just credit cards ( so they don't have to wash their hands after each cash transaction).

I. B.

Yelp
I've been going here for years. Hate the wait but love the bread! Customer service is usually spot on! "Say whatcha want and keep it moving" kind of attitude. I like it.

Aaron M.

Yelp
Possibly the best large bakery for bread in the entire Bay Area. They really do everything well. My one pet peeve was that they used bleached paper bags and they just switched to an unbleached paper!

Ivana Y.

Yelp
Rain or shine, there is always a line outside Acme because they have the best bread in the Bay Area! Don't let the line deter you from coming, the inside is small, but the line moves fast. There is a small parking lot in the front, and street parking available. Some of my favorites: Epi bread, olive bread, jalapeño cheese bread (only available Tuesday/Thursday), cheese twists, cheddar biscuits

Caz C.

Yelp
Excellent baked wheat products, sweet, savory, all of it. The one improvemnt I would most like to see is a way for physically disabled people to have an option to not have to stand on line. The Blue Placard parking spot is right next to the door and that's great. An improvement would be to have an option for those who are physically unable to stand for more than say 5-7 minutes on the line. Express Blue Placard lane? A number system where one could take a number then sit in car or one of the outdoor chairs, something until their number is called. There might be something even better. These are just two things that occurred to me. AND, if there is already some provision, dear Acme Mgt, please do advise. Thanks!

Caroline P.

Yelp
When in Berkeley, I must always stop by to pick up goodies. Love their baguettes, pizza, and choc chip short bread cookies!!

Yan X.

Yelp
I love this place. Bread quality is really good. I got a discounted bag of bread from ACME through TooGoodToGo, a company that helps save food waste. ACME was very generous about what they are giving away. I really appreciate it!

Sophie V.

Yelp
I'm so tired of having to wait for the Acme truck to show up whenever they want. When I used to live in Berkeley, I would get my fresh pastries every Saturday morning first thing when the Acme bakery opened! Ever since I moved to Richmond, years ago, after having to buy the left over from previous days, I stopped eating Acme pastries because their delivery truck arrives in our neighborhood when I start prepping for lunch! What a joke. Over the years, the truck keeps getting delayed with no real explanation from the driver. Our little market owners are always really sorry that I came for nothing and don't even know what to tell me anymore. This is pure racism and classism. I doubt the Acme rich white customers of SF & the East Bay get their croissants and morning buns delivered after 9am! We don't get anything before 11am. It's completely absurd. Really bad practices.

Mary S.

Yelp
I don't think I'll say anything extra that's helpful that hasn't already been said about Acme. It's a carb lover's dream come true. We always get their weekly "Bakers Against Racism" cookies. They're big and chewy and support great non profits.

Ron S.

Yelp
I went today and ordered 5 sourdough cheese rolls and 3 cheddar biscuits. I went home and didn't check my bag. Tonight as I was sorting my purchase and putting them inside a ziplock to preserve freshness. I noticed they only gave me 2 cheddar biscuits. I know it's only less than $3 for each but I trusted the person behind the counter to get my order right. I noticed the person that helped me might have been a new employee. She was asking her male coworker for help during my ordering process. I did not have a big order. She needs to be careful and not miss any of the customers order. Although mine was just a $3 item it is still bad for business as I am a regular weekly customer there. I will give her another chance. If it ever happens again. It will be a more harsh review.

Evon T.

Yelp
Absolutely my favorite bakery for a good bread. I stopped by early this morning to get some delicious treats and everything was good. Cheese and Ham turnover pastry is my favorite, warm, fresh, full of filling and hugeee. Such a great Saturday breakfast. Cheese and chive biscuit is my next favorite, I wished it was warm and more cheese since I don't really taste cheddar cheese. Chives was strong at take over the flavor. Shared this with my dog and they love it lol Sorta Cross Buns was my least favorite. I'm not a fan of raisins and cinnamon so I skipped it. Also cold... which I prefer warm bread. Service was extremely nice and the store is tiny but cool. Will definitely come back! Give it a try if you're around. The line could be long but move quickly

Michelle R.

Yelp
The bread here is amazing. You can get it at all the markets. But today i picked up a bag that i bought on an app called Too good to go for only $5.99. I got 2 loaves of bread and 5 or 6 hamburger type rolls. It's a great deal from an amazing bakery.

Carter I.

Yelp
Terrible service! I know looks can be deceiving, the stellar reviews of this place is not what it really seems. If you dig deeper at the reviews 80% of the people gave this place 5 stars are white. Fun facts. Iam questioning if they understand what defines a great bakery !! There are only 4 decent things in this place; cheddar biscuit, green onion slab, Ham n Cheese , the cookies. Everything else is subpar. I do argue that your local Whole Foods has better bakery. The pizza here is subpar, bread is subpar for the price they are charging you. I used to be a loyal faithful patroon of this establishment. This used to be my weekly go to bakery. But not anymore from today's experience! Let me tell you what happened; As a regular of this establishment, I know the line can be quite long. With that in mind, I arrived today at 745am prior to their opening hours at 8 am. There were 3 person in front of me in the line as I waited for the store to be open. When it was my turn to order, I asked for my usual Ham and cheese, but to my surprise it was already sold out !! Wait a minute , how could this be ?!??! I asked the lady working there what happened to Ham and Cheese , how could it be gone ?! She explained to me that due to a large order of Ham and cheese placed by phone for pick up at 830am. Hear me out, let's look at this . I arrived at 745am before this place opens at 8am, yet they gave the order to someone picks up at 830am. Does that even make any sense ? I feel deeply betrayed, by this place. They are punishing people waiting in the line by prioritizing/favoring people ordering on the phone. Very sad at how this place treats loyal patrons. I shall no more Visit this place. Never again !!! This is the Bay Area, and one thing I know is there are soooo many other wonderful bakeries that treats their customers sooooo kindly!!! This place should learn to know it is the customers that drives and make an establishment. Update review: The owner of this place confirmed what I said previously about how this place care less about people standing in line, the establishment chooses large orders over the phone than we the people standing in line like a fool !!!! Let's be clear, that I was 3rd in line at 745am. Way before their opening time at 8am!!!!!! This is the place promotes BLM, because it's trendy, in reality they care less about the people. ‍‍ zeros stars for this place !

Scott

Yelp
Sure it produces fantastic baked goods Problem is the line at Berkeley location is too long and very slow moving... they should do a better job of moving line faster

John O.

Yelp
Ditto to what the other reviewers say -- the pastries and bread here are ALL time. Do you like butter? Do you like flour? Step right up! Everything here is so delicious. However..........be prepared to wait -- there's ALWAYS a wait. Also, the prices of the goods have really gone up post-pandemic. Inflation has hit the Acme Bread Co hard! Best pastries in Berkeley......if you know of a better place, let me know Yelpers!

Sharon B.

Yelp
Call me hungry eyes because I came, I saw, I bought and I am so satisfied! I waited in line which wasn't too bad if you busy yourself with IG chats and reading various Yelp reviews. By the time it was our turn, I had an idea of what I wanted to order but we ended up ordering more with our eyes and stomach. First off, it's like a candy store for bread lovers. I knew I wanted to walk out with sourdough loaves for my parents and an olive loaf for myself. Saw the garlic and cheese biscuits and got that. I saw these open-faced sandwiches with arugula, but was informed that they were like flatbreads with pesto and ricotta. That was yummy and it was the first thing I pulled out when I got to the car. Price wasn't too bad for everything I walked out with. Service was served with a smile, which I am absolutely here for it!

Cathie W.

Yelp
I love this place! So many variety of breads and baked good! I would grab a bunch of goodies every time I'm in Berkeley. I love the olive brea loaf, the ears of wheat, seasonal frog hollow peaches which is basically a turnover pastry, so freakin good! The soft and chewy ginger cookie is also very good. There are so, so many wonderful bakeries in Berkeley. I would move there just for that!

Yelp
I buy sour batard, pain au pis, and baguettes, and store some in freezer bags until I need more. The breads are amazing. Fresh, flavorful and organic ingredients, plus their starters are natural and making the bread takes time. No competition between these and store bought bread. My sensitive tummy loves this place. I have to limit myself to just a few cinnamon, currant breads a year because I will eat the whole thing myself. Drooling thinking about it. Must stop and have a piece of sour batard now. There is always a line, but it moves fairly well and completely worth the wait.

Yelp
I wish I liked this bakery more than I do. Though the service and ambiance of Acme is nice. I like to try something new every once in a while to see if I like it and that happened this time with the Mushroom Pizza. The flavors went so well together. The mushroom and olives gave a really nice overall umami flavor that contrasted nicely to the sweet onions, mild cheese, and flavor of the pesto. Though what I do always try to grab when there is some is a fruit tart. The fruit tarts are not the natural side in terms of sugar which I appreciate.

Yelp
I've had the good fortune of bringing Acme treats to a few social gatherings this past week. Top notch service & baked goods each & every time. The two fellas at the front counter really hustle to keep that ever-present line moving briskly. But where is the tip jar for these magicians?!! Surely Acme could do this for their dedicated pros, and we customers are so accustomed to seeing one, it feels awkward to note its absence. [btw- the Acme pizza slab cut into bite sized pieces is a real crowd pleaser for happy hour occassions ] Word to the wise: everything available and barely a line between 8-830am. Now about that tip jar: hope to see it on my next visit!

Yelp
Wait in line forever, walk up to the window, make your order quickly, double check they put everything in your bag, pay and walk away. Seriously, double check that you got everything you ordered. I've been twice in the last 2 months and both times they shorted me something, but neither time did they forget to charge me. I didn't appreciate that, but I guess it's because they're busy. The baked goods are first rate, which makes it all worth it. I look forward to going back next time I visit Berkeley.

Yelp
Consistency with the products! Wish there was one closer to wear I live. Always a line.

Yelp
Dude. Dude. Everything is perfect about Acme Bread Company. They have the best pastries and bread in the area. There's normally a line and the wait is definitely worth it. Service is great. Everyone is really friendly and the line moves pretty quickly. I ordered the buttermilk jam biscuit, buttermilk biscuit with cheddar cheese, chives, & caramelized onions, jalapeño cheese turnover, cherry puff, blueberry puff, raspberry & chocolate puff, and goat cheese puff. My favorite was the jalapeño cheese turnover. The pastries were all so fluffy and crisp. The puffs have the perfect sweetness. The raspberry is a bit tarter in comparison to the cherry and blueberry puff. The biscuits are amazing too. I can't wait to try more items on the menu! I'll definitely be back more.

Yelp
They have a small parking lot, but we were able to park in it--yay!!! There was a line to get inside the building. We shared a huge delicious ham and cheese croissant that we shared--yum yum!!! We also got a Loaf of uncut sourdough bread that we enjoyed with homemade oxtail soup. They also bake lots of sweet treats.

Yelp
Buttermilk biscuit 5/5 Jalapeno cheese turnover 5/5 Pumpkin bread 3/5 Sweet loaf 5/5 Tomato pizza 4/5 Cinnamon twist 5/5 Great bread, quality, and taste! We went a little crazy with the bread, but it was so worth it! We came by the day after Thanksgiving, and there was a line. We stood in line for thirty minutes, but it wasn't so bad.
