We went to Adalina Prime after having a fantastic dinner at Adalina the night before, and unfortunately, the experience couldn't have been more different.
At Adalina, I had one of the best Old Fashioneds I've had in a long time--perfectly balanced and of normal size. Naturally, I expected the same here. Instead, what I received at Prime was visibly undersized and disappointing. See my pictures from my old Fashioned at Adalina vs. Adalina Prime. You will see the one from Prime It barely goes 1/2 way up the monogrammed ice cube. I'm a Yelper so of course I take pics of Food/cocktails as soon as they hit the table.
When I asked the bartender about it, his explanation was that Adalina and Adalina Prime use a "different build." Seriously? That felt like a lazy excuse rather than an answer.
Instead of wasting money on another cocktail, we asked for Laphroaig neat. 5 min later, bar manager came over--clearly to tell us they didn't carry it. He asked what else we wanted, so we explained the issue with the Old Fashioned. His response? That it was the same build as Adalina and that the bartender even worked at both restaurants. No apology, no curiosity, just dismissive. Not exactly the kind of hospitality you'd expect at a supposed high-end restaurant. We settled for Ardbeg neat, but the whole exchange left a bad taste before the food even hit the table.
For food, we skipped entrées (thankfully--we had another dinner planned elsewhere) and ordered a few bites and apps.
* Amuse bouche: the WTF was just okay, while the LOL was much tastier.
* Onion petals: good, nothing to complain about.
* Wagyu corn dogs: not good at all, oddly bland and greasy.
* Clam chowder soup: broth was nice, but barely any clam or potato to be found.
* Scalloped escargot: easily the best dish of the night, rich and flavorful.
Overall, Adalina Prime was a letdown. Between the poor bar experience, the uneven food, and the lack of hospitality, it's hard to justify coming back when Adalina itself offers a much better experience across the board.
