"Don't come to Adama expecting traditional Mexican cooking. Instead, this welcoming spot specializes in Middle Eastern cuisine. Tucked away down Callejon Adama street, this restaurant entices the city's growing population of foreigners making their home in this creative, colorful city. Chef Hagar Aviram may set a laidback tone here, but her cooking is spot on, reflecting authentic. The tightly edited menu features a number of dishes intended for sharing. Ingredients are sourced locally from nearby farms for simple, authentic plates like falafel with tahini and lamb kebab. End on a sweet note with baklava and a Turkish coffee." - Michelin Inspector

Adamá - Review - Xochimilco - Oaxaca - The Infatuation

"Adamá is situated in a less crowded area of the city, tucked away in Aldama Alley behind a wall covered with vibrant bougainvillea. Inside, Israeli-born chef Hagar Aviram serves classic Middle Eastern dishes to locals and travelers looking for a change of pace from all that corn-based and masa-centric Oaxacan food (heads up: the cash-only restaurant is open Sundays only). The menu, vegetarian and vegan friendly, features a variety of family-style dishes, including hummus, fatoush, creamy baba ganoush, an abundant serving of labneh, and textbook-perfect falafel. Their tabbouleh and refreshing, herb-packed salad made with cucumber, tomato, chopped onions, lime, and olive oil, are great for hotter days." - Mariana Camacho

Super nice restaurant tucked away on a quiet side street. Candlelit dinners in a beautiful courtyard setting create a magical atmosphere. Warm, friendly service and tasty homemade kombucha made it even better. The food was packed with flavour—we loved everything we tried, from the falafel and labane to the babaganoush, burek, and fattoush salad. A perfect spot if you’re looking for a delicious break from Mexican cuisine.

Wow! My partner and I said to each other as we enjoyed this that it might be the best meal we have ever had. I strongly considered going for a 1.5hour run straight after so I was hungry enough to go again. If you’re in the area please go, you will not regret it.

If you’re craving authentic Middle Eastern flavors, this restaurant is a true gem. From the moment you walk in, the inviting atmosphere and warm hospitality set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The food is nothing short of excellent—each dish is clearly made with care and attention to detail. The falafel deserves a special mention: it’s honestly the best I’ve ever had! Perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy and flavorful on the inside—every bite was pure bliss. The hummus and baba ganoush were both incredibly fresh and creamy, served with warm, pillowy pita bread that’s hard to stop eating. Every plate was vibrant, beautifully presented, and packed with authentic spices and textures. If you’re looking for a place where every dish is a hit (and the falafel will completely win you over), this spot should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended for anyone who loves great food and a welcoming vibe!

With so many incredible restaurant choices in Oaxaca, it’s difficult to choose. After reading reviews and seeing their menu online, Adamá landed at the top of my list during my visit to the area. Everything we ordered (falafel, cauliflower, kebabs, tabbouleh, baba ganoush) lived up to the rave reviews. The flavor and freshness was incredible. I would return in a heartbeat!

Unreal food experience. Best falafel of my life. The shwarma with hummus is to die for. Beautiful ambiance, grest service and some of the best food I've had in Oaxaca. Absolutely must visit! Pro tip if you come alone, you can choose 5 items for a smaller tasting plate. 🥺 out of this world. Finished with a lovely Tahiti ice cream and Turkish coffee. Best choice for final meal.

Can’t cap here this place is as good as it gets. I come here weekly. I feel I’m transported to the Middle East when eating this hummus and falafel. The sampler plate is to die for. I genuinely dream about the tahini ice cream until the moment I’m eating it again. The staff is so so so amazing. I love it here
