How to Tackle Addiction Aquatic Development, Taipei’s Seafood Paradise | Eater

"A sprawling gourmet seafood marketplace that feels like a cooler, upscale indoor market—spacious inside with warm wood paneling, pastel chalkboards, and outdoor eating areas planted with greenery and Edison-bulb candelabras. Large temperature-controlled tanks of live fish and shellfish meet flash-frozen and precooked seafood for takeaway, and staff will cook purchases on the spot. Stalls and counters cover almost every preparation: a small outdoor snack bar sells seafood congee, braised abalone, swordfish rice noodle soup, and an assorted seafood plate (often boiled shrimp, sliced octopus, and steamed manila clams); a supermarket area stocks high-quality meat, Taiwan fruit and produce, imported snacks, sauces (scallop- and squid-based), and novelty honeys for souvenirs; standing bars and stations offer sashimi, oysters, sweet shrimp, steamed snow crab, sashimidon (seafood over rice), and exceptionally sweet raw prawns; and numerous grab-and-go stalls sell mentaiko spaghetti, breaded pork cutlets, fried squid balls, tempura eel, stews, grilled seafood, skewers, and boxed sashimi. Most eateries are cash-only, operate first-come, first-served (so crowds and weekend lines are common), and are standing-room oriented, with only two venues in the complex taking reservations. Additional amenities include a bento-to-go station, prepackaged cooked dishes and grilled items, seasonal shaved ice, dessert and juice carts (featuring unusual blends like pumpkin or broccoli milk), and a to-go window for the outdoor grill." - Karissa Chen

The seafood here is incredibly fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. From uni hand rolls to premium sashimi platters, every bite tasted clean and high quality. The ambience and layout make it feel more like a curated seafood market experience than a typical restaurant. However, service left much to be desired. We had an initial server who was shockingly rude, bordering on hostile, and later spent about 15 minutes chatting with a friend while her teammates hustled to serve guests. The rest of the staff did their best, but overall service felt amateurish compared to the level of the food. Great for food lovers—but don’t expect polished hospitality.

Google
I've been here a handful of times now, and whenever I'm in the area, I always make sure to stop by. It's a great fish market with a wide selection of fresh seafood, high-quality beef, produce, alcohol, bentos, and hot food. Inside the market, there's a standing seafood bar, a wine tasting bar, and even a hot pot spot on the second floor. There's also a restaurant with a cute outdoor seating area and a cafe/dessert stand. The service is always excellent. Definitely check this place out if you get the chance!

Google
"The food is fresh, clean, and good quality, with reasonable prices. There's a wide variety to choose from — ready-to-eat meals as well as ingredients you can take home to cook. You’ll also find fresh fruits and vegetables, along with many kinds of drinks. If you buy ready-to-eat food, you can enjoy it right in front of the shop after paying — there are tables, chopsticks, and everything you need to enjoy your meal on the spot.

Google
They offer a selection of fresh seafood that can be prepared on-site or prepared ahead of time. Since their snow crab is good for both of us, we tried it. King crabs are larger and, naturally, more expensive. a choice between steaming or grilling. You can eat outside if you choose freshly cooked food, and you can eat the remaining food indoors or outdoors. The ikura and tuna were very delicious and highly recommended. To be honest, it was tiring having a meal on the table without chair.😅

Google
what can i say? i’m disappointed. we tried the sushi standing bar. first of all, it’s cash only. so be prepared. we got the multi course special. and the food we not timed, so our small counter space was quickly filled with many big dishes — there was no interest by the server to arrange it while we’re were still eating not taking the dishes away to give more space. all the above is fine mostly but coupled with the fact that the sushi is not better than getting one you find the grocery store in the west is surprising. the rice from the sushi was poorly formed, the fish was okay but not tasty and the soy sauce — was not the right one you use for sushi. this feels like a tourist trap. here’s my advice: come here, be a tourist and walk around. but no need to eat sushi here.

Google
Gets to try their hotpot, in term of environment, staff service and food, are all fantastic and fresh too. Wagyu beef 🥩 are the best among all, will definitely melt in your mouth. Price is slightly on the high side due to fresh seafoods. Really recommended to try again .

Google
Came here to get some sashimi and sushi among other stuff for quick lunch, and everything was super fresh and delicious! The place is impressive—lots of live seafood, a great selection of cooked food, and a well-stocked grocery section. It feels like Don Don Donki but on a bigger scale, with an actual live seafood market. Definitely worth a visit if you love fresh seafood and a wide variety of food options!

Google
We have sets and we love the food. The seafood is v fresh. Value for money. Stand throughout the meal but we are okay. Will definitely come again

Yelp
Addiction Aquatic Development is one of a few food service places in a seafood monger's store. You walk past tanks of king crabs and other crustaceans on your way into the restaurant. Service is very fast once you're seated (no reservations) and there are also no chairs (i.e. you stand at the wall counter or at high tops). This means you eat and get out! You can choose to order a la carte - but you also cannot go wrong with the set menus - easily enough food to keep you full. In my set menu I had a scallop shell filled with cooked scallop and uni, a king cab leg, sashimi (uni, tuna, made, clams, abalone and shrimp), nigiri (tuna handroll, ikura, toro, hamachi, hotate, grilled albacore, king crab and anago). It also comes with a hefty bowl of miso soup with fish and tofu. All of it at very reasonable prices - it would be much more expensive elsewhere.

Yelp
This one of our top meals on our trip to Taiwan. Excellent service, beautiful place, accompanied by some of the freshest, best tasting seafood you can get. All of AAD is part of the Taipei Fish Market. You can buy fresh seafood to take home or eat there like we did. The wait wasn't very long for such a limited space. It's pretty much a small restaurant located in the middle of the market The food was excellent. The fish was fresh as well as all the other seafood. We wanted to try a bit of everything from sashimi to beef(which was just as delicious as the rest of the seafood. They have options on the menu that's perfect for couples that give you just the perfect amount to try everything. If you're in Taiwan, this should be definitely be on your list to visit. The seafood is on par with anywhere in the world

Yelp
An incredible spot with a massive section of tanks filled with fresh, live seafood. There are more than a handful of king crab tanks, along with tons of other shellfish and fish. It's impressive to see everything so fresh and lively. The standing dining area lets you order from the selection, along with set meals. I opted for the larger set meal (one of two available options that day) and was very satisfied with everything I got. The abalone was incredibly tender and well-seasoned. All the fresh fish was firm and flavorful, the uni was sweet and buttery, and the crab was exceptionally sweet and delicious. It was a bit tricky to take the crab meat out, but they provide specialized utensils to make it easier. Everything was really great--highly recommend this spot for top-quality seafood!

Yelp
Wow! I can't say enough about this place! Such an interesting concept and set-up that they have. They have several food stalls set up in the market where you can also buy fresh fish and other groceries. We went to the sushi bar where they have two counters where you stand up and eat. We ordered the deluxe nigiri set and the deluxe sashimi set. I order came with a miso soup to start, and this was a huge bowl packed with seafood! Our favorite order was the deluxe nigiri set which came with salmon, tuna, shrimp, squid, fish roe, and a huge piece of eel. The presentation was on point! The freshness of the fish was outstanding. The sashimi set was also pretty good, and it came with salmon, tuna, shrimp, and a scallop. For all of this, we only paid $36 USD! Such a steal! Make sure you bring cash because they don't take credit card. Definitely a must if you love sushi!

Yelp
*** Cash only & restrooms available *** Addiction Aquatic Development (AAD) is the most-reviewed establishment on Yelp in the entire Taiwan. Interestingly enough not many of my older relatives have heard about this place which makes sense given that the seafood marketplace primarily targets younger & foreign visitors. AAD is a gourmet seafood marketplace located in the Zhongshan District (中山區) and is part of Taipei's Fish Market. It blends aquamarine products, a supermarket, themed restaurants, and modern interior decoration into one destination. AAD was also featured in an article by Eater in March 2019 ( https://www.eater.com/2019/3/6/18242215/addiction-aquatic-best-taipei-seafood-fish-market ). [How to get here]: Approximately 18-minute walk from the Taipei MRT Zhongshan Junior High School (中山國中) station & approximately 16-minute walk from the Taipei MRT Xingtian Temple (行天宮) station. Live Aquatic Products, the supermarket, and sushi bars share a single main entrance so just follow the crowd to find it. [Hours]: ADD marketplace opens from 7 AM to 10 PM. All restaurants here open at either 10:30 AM or 11 AM and closes at 10:30 PM (last orders = 30 minutes before closing time) with the exception of YeTai Seafood Tapas which closes at 8 PM. *** Non-restaurant areas *** [Areas]: Each of the 10 areas are independently operated so ADD asks visitors not to bring food from other areas or outside into that area. Here's the breakdown: + Area 1 Live Aquatic Products 活體海鮮: Temperature-controlled tanks with live seafood. The staff can steam any selection you choose such as clams, fishes, shrimps, and crabs. However, frying services are not available. + Area 6 Supermarket: Grab-and-go sushi, salads, and sashimi. + Area 7 Cooked food: There's a make-your-own bento station (large bento box = 150 NTD and select up to 5 different sides OR house-made meals = 140 NTD and select two types of dish). Across from the bento station is a wide selection of pre-packaged cooked dishes and a grilled seafood station (priced by the piece). + Area 8 An elegant lifestyle: Daily necessities such as food ingredients, cookware, and household goods. Got a wine bar too (Xiao Yi Wine Bar). + Area 9 Fruit selection & Area 10 The Flowers: High-quality fruits are available, but they come at a premium price. Customers can ask for sliced fruit in box form or freshly squeezed juice (juice bar = small hallway right outside the exit). *** Restaurant areas *** + Area 2 Litun 立吞 Sushi Bar (Instantly Consumed Delicacy): The #1 reason why most visitors are here & customers can enjoy nigiri and sashimi while standing at the sushi counters. Located in the center of the supermarket. + Area 3A Quai Yi Ba 快意吧 Seafood Bar (steamed seafood cold dishes and sashimi bowls): Located in the center of the supermarket - just behind Litun Sushi Bar and right next to butcher. + Area 3B Trésors De La Mer 煮海 Restaurant (sashimi, steamed/grilled/fried seafood, hot pot, and hand rolls, but no sushi): Located outside right below 'Taipei Fish Market' sign. + Area 3C YeTai 野台 Seafood Tapas (seafood platters, rice dishes, and rice noodle soup): Located near the entrance. + Area 4 Le Pong 樂烹 Hot Pot (combo meals featuring seafood, beef, or pork hot pots - ideal for two or more people to share): Located on the 2nd floor. + Area 5 Tandao炭道海鮮燒烤 Charcoal Grilled Seafood BBQ (grilled seafood, vegetables, & meats): Located near the exit of Litun Sushi Bar. *** Litun 立吞 Sushi Bar *** [How to order]: Customers must provide a phone number and a name to get on the waitlist before receiving a waiting number. The staff accepted USA number, but it is easier to use a temporary local number from a 5G or 4G plan purchased at the airport. A digital screen displays the waiting numbers so don't worry about missing a notification. I waited 15 minutes before being seated. [Menu]: English friendly menu. Hand sanitizers are available at the sushi bar. Most customers order classic or deluxe seasonal sets. *** Litun 立吞 Sushi Bar - Deluxe set 1980 NTD *** + Seafood Platter: The cooked shrimp and salmon roe were okay, but the crab was good and the shellfish was outstanding. + Skewer: Lightly seasoned which allowed the beef's natural flavor to shine. The fried garlic was a nice touch. + Nigiri Set: Not the best nigiri I've had, but everything tasted fresh. Great eel. + Miso Soup: Savory with a strong fish aftertaste, but slightly too salty for my taste. +Snow Crab: The star of the combo. Charcoal-grilled with a subtle smoky flavor & excellent crab. + The bill includes a 10% automatic tip which was a first for me and the only place during my short stay in Taiwan where a tip was added. *** A solid 4-star combo set considering it was one of the most expensive meals I've had in Taiwan, but it met my expectations overall. This spot is worth a visit for sushi and Japanese food fans. If you're looking for fresh seafood and don't mind the price tag, then this is the place for you.

Yelp
Can't get much fresher than this when you are in the mode for fish or shrimp or anything seafood. The market is on one side and the restaurant (stand up only) is attached to it. It is a bit difficult to figure out how to order but most signs are in English as well. Basically, you wait by the cash register for someone to give you a number and when that number is called (on an overhead monitor), you will be guided to a spot to stand at the long bars. They ran a special on grilled King Crab legs that day so we had to try it. We also had some tuna belly and tuna sushi. Both Tuna pieces were a delight, melt on the tongue. The crab legs was messy but good, just very pricey for Taiwan standards.

Yelp
This was a very big fish market where you can do eataly like grocery shopping with wine, cured meat/fish options as well as run of the mill groceries. Within this complex, you can get sushi for a steal. We were brought to our standing sushi bar within 10-15 min of getting our ticketed number. We had no clue it was standing only. So it was a tiring dinner after just landing earlier today and accomplishing over 20,000 steps. There was a deal for one for two beers that ended up becoming less than 3 dollars per large pour. It was refreshing. We opted for the smaller sushi set which was only 24 dollars for a large bowl of miso soup with actual fish and fish bone, sashimi salad, grilled tuna steak kebab and 8 nigiri as well as a hand roll. How was all this 24 dollars?!? The ikura was really good! There were some hits and misses with the fish. Overall, good deal and fun place to explore. Just be aware of the standing and the cash only aspects.

Yelp
Usually, grocery stores attached to fish markets are the best place to get good deals on good sushi/sashimi, and judging by the crowds, I'd say Taipei agrees. The quality of what we got swung a little wide, and for NT$1000 I guess that's to be expected. The best items were the fatty salmon, the squid (both impossibly pillowy and smooth), the sea bream with the wiggly textured skin (textured without being cartilaginous), and the sauce-less saltwater eel. I love when people don't automatically put eel sauce on eel. Why does eel need to be drenched in sweet sauce? (It doesn't.) There were a few misses: the lobster sushi that tasted like playdoh, and a magenta fish I honestly couldn't identify, but was very plasticky. It didn't even taste or feel like a fish. Honestly, the biggest issue was their oddly salty soy sauce. It was like 4 times as salty as regular soy sauce - I could barely even use it!
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Warning: cash-only establishment, but don't worry if you forget or run out of cash, there's an ATM located by the entrance of the grocery store. We opted for the standing sushi restaurant, offering decent prices for the quality of seafood. We were seated right away. Unfortunately, my friend experienced food poisoning afterward. The service was terrible; we had to flag servers down to input more orders and grab our drinks. Overall, it's a cool place to check out if you're in Taipei. It has a casual vibe, and you can also grab packaged sushi to go from the market. Additionally, there are seafood tanks with live crab, lobster, and more that you can select and have prepared.
google avatar

Jenny H.

Yelp
We went to the standing sushi restaurant and were seated quite quickly. My only complaint was that water dripped a few times onto our head or shoulders from the ceiling/pipe. The sashimi we ordered was very fresh and thick slices. We wanted to come back if we had time but did not have the time!! This place is a must visit!
google avatar

Yelp
We were visiting and wifey heard such great reviews and had to try. The food and experience is awesome with so reasonable prices

Yelp
We started off the morning at the Addiction Aquatic Development. It's both a fish market and eatery here. As you enter, you can see all the fresh seafood in their tanks and wow, these crabs are massive! Then you make your way through the market, which holds a variety of sushi and hot food items for you to purchase. Unfortunately, I came too early for the standing sushi restaurant in the middle (it opens at 10:30am), but I was still able to grab a few sushi plates in the fridged aisle to enjoy. This isn't Japan, but it comes close for some good, fresh, and affordable seafood. We found a standing table outside to enjoy our meal, which included a Nigiri Set (NT$480), Salmon Sashimi (NT$430), Sweet Shrimp (NT$330), Fried Shrimp (NT$180), and Fried Rice (NT$130). The fish was fresh and definitely satisfied any sushi cravings. I wouldn't say this is a must visit, but a cool spot to check out.

James K.

Yelp
This update has nothing to do with the food or the service. Just that I find it kind of ridiculous that a modern place which draws an international crowd only accepts cash. Yes there are signs and the staff is very nice about it - but again - ridiculous.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're into high quality seafood, Tsukiji market type vibes, and eating your heart outs at a reasonable price, Addiction aquatic is your place to be. Its sort of like seafood market + seafood grocery store + sushi tasting spot all combined in one. On one section, there's a section for live seafood for all sorts of critters you can find in the sea - think King crab, all sorts of fishes etc. Another section is dedicated as a sort of grocery store with all sorts of fresh seafood produce, prepared as sushi, sashimi, bento boxes etc. as well as hot japanese style foods - you name it. Honestly the selection was pretty overwhelming. In the center they have a restaurant where you can order sushi prepared by a chef at a standing booth type set up. Fish was super fresh tasty, and reasonably priced. $500 - $1000 NTD depending on the level nigiri that you get. Great variety and experience just to visit this place!

Charlie Y.

Yelp
I love the food. I love the freshness, but I hate there's no sitting tables. Couldn't wait for them to have some sitting environment
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
Love, love looooove. You walk in to the fresh fish tanks and get a good look at all the amazing seafood they have. The crabs are humungous and I love seeing how fresh everything is. After the tanks you get to the market portion and this place is popping, very crowded for lunch on a weekday. They have sushi, sashimi, cook rolls, appetizers, vegetarian, you can find something for everyone. There's a hot bar too with the huge crab legs! Everything we ate was delicious, one downside is cash only. Also, it's standing tables on the interior, there are benches and seating outside though if the weather isn't too hot!

Yelp
Good, not great. Probably the best phrase to capture our evening there. The wet market is pretty need as is the grocery store, but my review reflects the sushi and service quality at the standing sushi restaurant only. First, it's pretty confusing how you enter the restaurant. When we arrived, every conceivable entrance was roped off. What looked to be the main entrance was blocked by a red rope. We asked if they were closed already and the 5 people (who didn't great us initially) there looked at us as if we were nuts and said no, of course not, removed the rope and let us in. Our primary waitress who took our order was the only other real anomaly on service that night. She looked and acted like she really didn't want to be there that night. Just generally pissed off at the world. She didn't take it out on us thankfully, but puts a odd vibe on an evening out. We chose one chef's set and one nigiri set for two of us to enjoy. We knew it would be a lot of food, but we were starving after a long day of city walking and exploring. Not going to hit each type of fish one by one. Will say overall the sets were very good (the miso soup was killer too, but watch out for bones in the fish). The quality of the tuna was subpar with very stringy cuts of both the loin (akami) and the belly (toro). Flavor was nice but it was like someone snuck some dental floss in with the fish. The other thing I was really looking forward to was the Uni. It looked great, but had a iodine-forward and iron-lingering taste to it. Was not a fan, especially if you're used to Hokkaido or Santa Barbara Uni. The rest of the food was enjoyable, the crab leg was cooked to perfection (just barely done, still juicy), and the other servers were nice. Still worth a visit as it was reasonably priced ($105 USD for everything pictured plus 2 beers). Just don't let the hype get to you and you'll enjoy the meal. Don't forget, It's a standing only restaurant, and bring cash. Oh, and a bit of a deduction for the surprise 10% service charge. Not sure for what since tipping is not a thing in Taiwan (certainly not mandatory) and it wasn't a surcharge for credit cards since they only take cash.

Yelp
Super cute location/activity! A seafood market with a few different shops and a yummy sushi restaurant. There are plenty of grab to go options for sushi/sides if you're in a rush. However, if you have the time, I 100% recommend stopping at the centra restaurant for a bite to eat. - I ordered the nigiri omakase set and it was way too much food with a complimentary small appetizer, hot appetizer, soup, 9 nigiri. favorite would have to be the eel! notes: 1. get your number and check in with the staff to hold your place in line, browse the market while you wait your turn! 2. the restaurant only has bar-style standing room so beware that you will have to stand for the duration of your meal 3. cash only! the food is on the pricier or side so make sure you bring enough cash
google avatar

Howie X.

Yelp
Best seafood market where you can get fresh lobsters , King crabs , fishes and sushi . The market place has a combination of seafood market and restaurants . We ordered sashimi platters and hot foods , they were prepared fresh and met our expectations . It's definitely a must visit if you are in Taipei !
google avatar

Johnson D.

Yelp
Crowded, CASH ONLY, and absolutely worth it. My parents don't live in Taipei anymore, but they dream about this place because it's pretty damn fresh. Come here with the right expectations though: you're gonna have a hard time finding a seat and it feels more like a high end grocery place than a restaurant. (Like Whole Foods or something, but better because it's local and full of amazing seafood). I have no idea why, for whatever shady tax reasons, this place is still cash only in 2024, but if it keeps costs low enough so that fresh seafood is still reasonable, then screw it I'm willing to put up with having to carry cash every time I'm here.

Yelp
Great market for some really great food! Right when you walk towards Addiction Aquatic Development, you're directed towards the entrance of the market. It can be confusing at first to find the entrance since it's located on a huge block. From the entrance, you walk through the fish market and head into another section when they sell more typical market items. It's a really good spot, whether you're looking for groceries, grab and go items, or lunch/dinner. We decided to visit the standing sushi bar in the middle of the restaurant and didn't have to wait much since we arrived near opening time. Even though the standing bar was in the middle of the market, it was really secluded and felt intimate. They had privacy shields blocking you from other guests. We ordered the Addiction nigiri set, chu toro and uni nigiri, and scallop and surf clam sashimi. Highly recommend ordering to your heart's content and skipping on the sets. Fish was super fresh here!! Both the scallops and the surf clam are highly recommended since they were both extremely sweet and tasty. There are other restaurant offerings inside the market, like an oyster bar and wine bar. Highly recommend giving the place a visit for some really fresh and tasty fish!

Yelp
What a unique experience - a seafood market elevated into high-end dining set-up. You can pick up your seafood from the seafood market downstairs and have them cooked here. Or you can just dine here. You can't go wrong with anything basically as the ingrediants are so fresh and we just can't get enough. We ordered a deluxe set that came with 9 pieces of Nigri of chef's choice - they were divine. The king crab leg was nice as well. They also sell packed food to go - again, very good quality. Pictures don't do justice.

Yelp
This place is very cool, but also very busy. My experience was a bit ruined by going on a Saturday at lunch time. There were so many people crammed into a tight space that you couldn't move around and see any of the items for sale. That being said, the food was delicious and the choices were seemingly endless. Do not underestimate the hot bar items. The cooked salmon belly was the best thing we ate. After we ate, we saw that there is some additional seating hidden around back. I would highly recommend that, as the standing room seating out front is very chaotic. Also of note, it is cash only but they have an ATM on-site.

Jordan E.

Yelp
Not impressed. For a huge upscale fish market, sushi was mediocre at best. Not sure what type of red fish was used in my nigiri set, but it was rubbery & disgusting. Every other type of normal fish was below average as well. This entire market is also cash only. Make sure you push around a suitcase full of cash when shopping for king crab! Not taking credit card for such a large business is a red flag & huge annoyance. Another annoying thing about this place is they have plenty of tables to eat over, but not a single chair to sit on. After a long day of walking around the city with aching feet, we just wanted to enjoy a nice sit down dinner!Apparently they want everyone to chow down & GTFO as fast as possible. Allowing ppl to sit & be comfortable would only keep people lingering longer God forbid.

Yelp
Cash only restaurant. No card accepted‍‍‍. the sushi Is fresh but nothing that you couldn't get in the usa. I honestly wouldn't come back . it's not bad, but nothing special either.

Yelp
A most fun place just look at seafood, take away or eat in! Come early or expect a long line! Feast for the eyes, mouth and tummy Service was pretty mediocre at best, seems they don't care as people come for the food and will keep coming back regardless. A cheaper option is to just take out and eat outsides, regardless recommended!
google avatar

Yelp
You'll park close by in a parking lot. The restaurant wasn't too far, because it's Taiwan, how far can anything be compared to the US. Pricey, small portion, and the food was just ok.

Yelp
We love fresh seafood. Coming here after Korea already gave me high expectations. Upon walking in, you see the market of all the live fish and shellfish. Very clean tanks and and lots of variety. The wait was long as we saw the amount of people in the area so we shopped around. ***Key tip. Don't waste your money and stomach eating the other stuff at the market if you're coming here for a meal*** We ordered a ton because we were starving. The sushi was great. Freshly made in front of us. The soup and grilled items were awesome and we watched it cooked next to us. Our favorites were the grilled King Crab leg and grilled abalone. Over all we liked it a lot. No specialty items like you'd find at fancy omakase, but this was very good fish.

Yelp
Amazing Amazing Amazing! When we vacation here we definitely make the trip out here a few times throughout our vacation. We take the bus here and don't make much issues. They have fresh groceries and pre made food for you to grab and go. But there is a restaurant inside as well. It's usually pretty pack and may have to wait. But the seafood is soooo fresh and well made! Absolutely recommended!

Yelp
Mostly imported high quality sea creatures from Japan, Scotland and pretty wild stuff. You can taste the freshness when it comes off the boat on the same morning. It is surely addictive as I want to come back in a couple days knowing others can't match this quality and it's half the price compared to the states at higher quality. The imported fruits and sushi/sashimi across the restaurant is also a great way to grab something quick although you don't get a seat... Just a table to stand next to.

Yelp
Such a fun market to go to! They have a section for fresh seafood and then another section where you can find high end groceries, bentos, and even wine/cheeses! It's definitely a fun place to visit while also getting a bite of food! We tried some of their prepackaged sushi while we waited in line for a place at their restaurant. The fish was soooo fresh and so yummy!! Also pro tip: if you want their more expensive cuts of fish but don't have time to wait in line for the restaurant, you can head to the back, near the bathrooms, thats where they sell the prepackaged otoro, uni, toro etc.

Yelp
I was so excited to visit this place again after 4 years, but there was so much lacking this time around. I opted for another stand up restaurant set meal for ~$60 USD and was disappointed. The seafood was fresh, yet the service was subpar! The waitress forgot to order one of the meals and when we asked her about it, she made sure to place the order again. Long story short, we finally received the meal after the 3rd reminder and canceled our drinks because it never arrived. I think the seafood selection and quality could have been better. This place has gotten pretty touristy so I guess a 10% service charge is warranted for bad service? I'll pass on this place the next time I visit.

Yelp
Great fun market to walk around and see a live seafood market in a modern sleek clean environment. Great sushi bar with indoor seating or buy the food at the market at eat in the outdoor area. Outside they have coffees and smoothies. Good value for the quality sushi you're getting. Parking lot is a bit smelly I recommend MRTing there.

Yelp
About a 3.5 rating. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a spot. We had to stand to eat. Think of a long aisle - people can stand on each side to eat. They were out of a lot of fishes on the menu - I went around 1pm on a weekday. No uni, no yellowtail, etc. Kind of a bummer that they didn't have at least 5 types of seafood on the menu. The service is quick - but the vibe here is kind of a eat fast and leave quickly. Not like a sit down and relax spot. The best part probably is the price point is really not bad. There were sashimi sets for like 10 bucks usd. A controversial thought - The fish cut for nigiri were HUGE.. to the point the proportion seemed so odd. Some people may like it but I felt like I finished the rice quickly and then was chewing on fish for too long.

Yelp
pricey but definitely worth checking it out. it offers fresh seafood, majority japanese cuisine and the place is spacious. it's a good local/touristy spot.

Yelp
Great variety and quality seafood at reasonable price. The most important thing to remember this place is more of a seafood market than a restaurant. If you want to have a restaurant experience there is a standup bar section where you can order and eat your food at the bar.

Yelp
This used to be good, but it anymore due to understaff. We waited 40 minutes from 28 to 30 and our number was 33. We left after 40-minute useless waiting. Tables are getting cleaned, and no one is allowed to get in. Half of the tables are not occupied and everyone has to wait outside without any progress. People inside are waiting for waiters to take orders and plow who finish are waiting to get the bills. No one seems to take care of them and you have to grab the young waiter to ask for anything you want. While people outside are waiting to get numbers to get in and no one is there to serve since they don't allow people to take the numbers themselves. Expensive, cash only and outside food is not allowed even from their own. I don't see why I have to wait and have to waste my life eating here. Even I get to get in, I cannot imagine the service quality. I am not coming back for good.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite place for seafood! I have not found a fresher spot for both raw and cooked dishes alike. The only downside is having to stand while eating, but the food and value surpass that minor annoyance for me. They have sets or a la carte available. I always opt for the sets as I am indecisive, but also because you seem to get the most bang for your buck. It seems that they change up their menus monthly which is a nice touch. Sets range from approximately $30 USD - $50 USD but you get so much food! I always leave ridiculously full. I believe there are buses that'll take you from the heart of downtown Taipei to Addiction Aquatic Development, but we usually just opt for an Uber as it isn't too pricey. Don't let the (seemingly) long line/wait deter you; it moves quite quickly and the food is 10000000x worth the wait. Don't sleep on this spot when you're in Taipei - you will regret it if you do so!

Yelp
Tourist trap!! Heard so much about this place from foodies and had to try, what a complete waste of time and money! The worst offense was the Alaskan crab legs that cost $30USD and were super salty, fishy smelling and definitely very NOT fresh!! We had the hardest time trying to get the meat out since most of it stuck to the shell which is classic sign that crab isn't fresh. You could not pay me to ever go to this overpriced tourist trap again, as you can tell by the clientele that were mostly foreigners. What a terrible disappointment for Taiwan where fresh, tasty affordable food is prized. Additionally, for a sushi restaurant rice is as important as the fish. Here the rice was a cold after thought. I was fooled by all the YouTube reviews.

Yelp
Worth a stop while vacationing in Taiwan for affordable fresh seafood We enjoyed everything we order

Yelp
So, the first thing to understand about this place is that it's less a restaurant and more of a seafood department store with a number of different restaurants and retailers, each with their own menu/products, ambiance, pricing, etc. I think your experience here could be quite different depending on which "area" you visit and really each one should probably have its own individual listing on Yelp. We visited the seafood barbecue restaurant and that's what the rest of my review is about. Unsurprisingly the main attraction of this place is the seafood and it really is incredibly fresh. Easily the freshest I've seen in Taiwan and the kind of variety and freshness that you can only really get by being adjacent to a major seafood market. Also the outdoor seating area is pleasant enough and made for decent people watching. At least when we were there, it seemed like there were a number of people from different places in the world. That's about the only positive thing that I have to say about the place, though. The actual food preparation was completely minimal (just grilled, no seasoning) which worked for some things but not others. The service was also not good. Despite a mostly empty restaurant we still had to wait for a table and then it took quite a while for our food to come out. The prices here are quite high. We ordered only a small number of items and the bill still came to thousands of dollars. Just one king crab leg was over NT$1000. I'm fine with splurging on a meal sometimes but I guess that I expect a more elaborate preparation at this price point. There is an extensive wine list but prices are again quite high. I only wanted a glass and ordered the house wine (also expensive) but it was pretty bad. When our order finally came out the staff demanded payment immediately, which was annoying since we had to go to the ATM (due to the high prices) and as a result our food ended up sitting out for a bit. Overall I would recommend this place to a hypothetical diner that prioritizes freshness over all else (including price, service, or preparation). Otherwise I think there are better options in town.

Yelp
If you want fresh seafood, this is one of the places to go. You literally see the fish in the back of the center. Fresh fish, crab, lobster, etc. In the front of the center is the gourmet market filled with fruits, vegetables, and of course, fish. Lots of fish such as fish miso soup with generous chunks of fish, sashimi, sushi, grilled fish, etc. My partner is not a big fish person but he got some soup for our youngest who was just recovering from a possible stomach bug. He was not expecting a full fish eyeball in the soup. I happily ate it up. We had so much food all week, I couldn't finish all our sashimi. Unfortunately. It was so fresh too. The place is smaller in person but the quality is there. There is seating all around and even the back of the place. There's so signage and a bodyguard had to tell us when he walked by. The place is CASH only though. We even got mango ice cream and coffee at the cart. The osmanthus coffee is no joke! Deliciously pleasant. Worth checking out and tourists kept coming and going. You can easily get a taxi when you're done.

Yelp
Good place to explore seafood, we went at weekday and the waiting list is still quite long but shopping around kills time. Food was good and very good price. Standing eating is not that difficult, and so good that people are not take long time to eat. The goods I bought take home to eat is not as fresh as it should, so be careful pick up the seafood at the shopping area.

Yelp
Revisited this place and was much pleased this time, probably because of my familiarity with expectations. Arrived a little late at night (2200ish), so some popular dishes were already told out. Lesson learned: do not let their closing time (midnight) mislead you. My recommendation is to be there before mealtime rush. Regardless of whatever set menu you order, they are all super fresh. Only challenge is that they do not sell out clearly the set menu. Therefore, it is imperative that customers ask waiters/waitress for clarification before ordering. Otherwise, they may ended up with something that they don't like. The good thing is that they do offer exchange on certain items. Example, raw oyster can be exchanged for crab leg, or grilled shrimps; same goes to salmon eggs. Update! Still one superb place to enjoy fresh sashimi, sushi, crabs and other delicious seafood dishes. However, I am getting too old for eating while standing. That is getting too tiresome. Next time, I definitely will stick with seated eating to better enjoy good meals.

Yelp
One of the best places for seafood lovers in Taipei. Everything is amazingly fresh! And I agreed with what other yelpers said, this is basically the Taiwanese version of Eataly, but mostly selling seafood. I loved their Guillardeau oysters (my most favorite French oysters) raw shrimps, abalone, Hokkigai (both grilled and soup dishes are so fresh) and king crabs!!!! All sooo damn good!!!!!Sashimi was delicious and fresh as well. They all have a clean ocean taste, there's always a touch of sweetness on the finish. Their tuna belly and A5 Waygu beef literally just melted in my mouth, I just can't get enough of this place. The sweet aftertaste remains in my mouth the whole day! 10/10, definitely a must when you're in Taipei!

Yelp
I cried while eating here. The experience itself (a standing eating area) was fun and added to the experience, but the fish was so fresh it melted in my mouth. I ordered salmon roe with Japanese yam, salmon belly, supreme toro (Taiwan), tuna belly, salmon, Gillardeau oysters, uni hand roll, and grilled ayu with eggs. All of these were fabulous (except well maybe the tuna and oysters because I'm just not a huge fan of tuna or large oysters). Midway through the meal, the head sushi chef/boss personally delivered a bowl of two seasoned and grilled japanese omelettes as a gift, and it was one of the tastiest creations I've had the chance to savor. So good in fact, that I didn't realize the item wasn't on the menu...when I tried to order it and got told I couldn't because it wasn't on the menu, I drooped visibly. The boss came in clutch here and told his understudies to make me more, despite my embarrassment and hurried wave of denial. What an attentive and unique establishment, the boss clearly pays detailed attention to his customers and provides the best dining experience available despite how utterly busy he is.

Yelp
Looks like an authentic dim sum deli but dishonest chinese ladies working at this deli you do not know till they total up to get the most out of you!!!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to visit when in Taipei. There are two main restaurants here- a grill BBQ place that grills seafood and beef dishes and a standup sushi place. I highly recommend going to the standup sushi place and indulge in all the tuna belly offerings. The supreme tuna belly was superb- melt in the mouth. I can't believe how good the sushi was. They also have the Only 18 day Taiwan beer- has to be one of the best beers. There is a huge takeout food area in the shop where you can buy packaged sushi. The grill BBQ place is also great. You pick out the seafood you want cooked and they do the rest. Love the outdoor seating area. This place gets mad packed during the weekends so make reservations or come early.
