The Best Ironbound Restaurants in Newark, New Jersey | Bon Appétit

"An elegant Portuguese- and Spanish-inspired dining room with moody lighting, stone archways, and grapevine murals that create an intimate atmosphere; start with appetizers such as garlicky camarones al ajillo and consider the paelha marinheira—a saffron rice pan studded with lobster, shrimp, clams, scallops, and mussels—while the restaurant's long, narrow bar offers a more casual alternative for drinks." - ByEsra Erol

I have been to this restaurant many years earlier and it was always great. I was stuck in Newark because my flight was canceled, so I decided to see if it was still good. Wow! The service was excellent as always. My filet Mignon wrapped in bacon was amazing! The mushrooms delicious. What a great experience. The manager came by and checked on the experience. Definitely recommend!

Adega Grill Is FANTASTIC. Beatifully decorated, old school impeccable service, our server was AMAZING. And the food was so fresh and so good. I felt like I was in Portugal. We went for Father’s Day, last minute, an hour before kitchen closed and the experience, the food, the passion fruit sangria and our adorable, Portuguese server, made our night. Will be back very soon.

We had our 40th Reunion for high school i.e. Saint Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey. Adega Grill was selected by the alumni advisory and event planning board. Adega Grill is a good local and non-chain restaurant located in the extremely busy Iron Bound section of Newark. Adega Grill is an upscale, casual and cozy authentic Portuguese and Spanish Restaurant with great food and drinks. They have a menu that boast fresh meats and seafood dishes with something for everyone. You can have a delicious and fresh meal coupled with warm, friendly, and very attentive customer service. The establishment is a really popular place with the locals and it is definitely a "Refreshing Change from the Chains!" It can get very busy in there so arrive early and you won't be disappointed. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by two hosts whom directed me upstairs where the private affair was occurring. Both of the event hosts were very friendly, pleasant, professional, and had a genuine smile. It was a Friday around 06:00 PM and I was immediately offered White or Red Sangria which was included with our dinner buffet. There was an open cash bar were you could order whatever you desired. The tables and seating was comfortable and very organized. The facility has a fireplace, unique restroom accommodations, and a unique rooftop setting. All of the team members at Adega Grill smiled and were very welcoming. Everything was absolutely delicious, kept hot, and the various buffet items were prepared and cooked to perfection. All of the meat and others items were very tasty and not salty as many Portuguese operated business products can be. For dessert, we had our choice of flan or cheesecake and I selected cheesecake with coffee. All of the servers very attentive, friendly, efficient, and happy to help! In short, the great food and awesome customer service made for an awesome group dinning experience! I will definitely be returning to bring my wife for dinner when we are in the Newark, New Jersey area to try some of their other appetizers, entrees, specials, and dessert.

This place was great. The food was delicious, even though the presentation could’ve been better. The service was phenomenal and there was a great vibe.

Google
Attended a function and we liked the fact ADEGA had a private parking within walking distance to restaurant. We noticed they had sidewalk dining facing Ferry Street. A nice feature but, too busy for it to be romantic with traffic congestion and pedestrians crowding the street. No patrons took advantage of this offering. The restaurant has a few floors with rooftop, and party rooms on the 2nd floor. Nice decor with a full service bar. The banquet room was painted black which was strange for a joyous party. Service was slow and strange. Appetizers can at different times and one appetizer completely was missed and later showed up as an after thought. The appetizers were average. As for beverages. They place one bottle of wine, pitcher of sangria and soda for a table of 10. We had to request a bottle after emptying one bottle. Entrees were mediocre and steak was over cooked. Service was spotty. The bartender was the best part of the entire event.

Google
Tacky, done with a soft voice and smile. They weren't extremely busy or anything, yet the main course took extremely long to come and within a few minutes they were rushing us asking if they could pack up the food???....didn't offer us dessert or anything. It was basic fish and potatoes dishes for 2 people. Their pricing is on the higher end for the experience to be tacky in anyway. I definitely recommend looking at your bill closely before signing off. I suspect it's because we didn't meet the dress code, which we didn't know about, but offered to leave/sit outside BUT they invited us inside 🤣 it felt like they didn't want to turn away the busine$$ but didn't want us to stay.

Yelp
I had an extended layover in Newark, NJ this past Monday, so decided to venture out and check out a restaurant in the area. I was recommended to go to Ferry Street, and there were a mix of Portuguese, Brazilian, and Mexican restaurants down this street. I wanted to walk the length of the street before I made a decision, and I was also looking for a restaurant with a certain aesthetic where I could sit down and feel comfortable. I decided to go in here because when I passed by, it seemed fairly nice inside and not too crowded. I did have my suitcase with me, and the host was kind and held it in their closet for me. It definitely had the ambiance I wanted. The restaurant was large and had a front bar area and then a back dining room which is where he led me. There is a dress code on the front door which states business casual. I was dressed a bit down having been in transit most of the day, but it wasn't an issue. My waiter was Gabriel and he was very kind and attentive. There was complimentary bread, and an option for sparkling water or tap. I opted for the sparking. They had some decent options on their menu for Portuguese food, although it's a bit on the pricey side. I ordered the Peito De Frango Rustico (roasted chicken with peppers in a tomato stew) that comes with a side of saffron rice, steamed vegetables, and some potato crisps. It was a delicious dish, and the chicken was very tender. I loved the sauce it was cooked in. I was definitely very full after eating. The only thing I didn't care for was the potato crisps. I also liked that everyone worked together to check in on the guests. Gabriel, as well as another one of his colleagues, checked in on me and the other guests repeatedly to make sure I was doing well, or they would just refill my water if they noticed it was getting low. If I was in the area, I'd revisit again and make sure to dress accordingly, lol.

Yelp
NY prices or higher which is shocking for NEWARK where the average income level is nowhere near. They do give a good amount of food for what you pay. Service was a bit disorganized and disappointing since the table who came after us (and after we already placed our orders), somehow got their food first and finished their dinner as we were just getting our dishes - we were a group of 3 vs they had 2. The food itself was not bad. Garlic shrimp was flavorful. Octopus as well with paprika. The steak was not steak house quality but was cooked as asked. Overall, I'd skip this place next time. Not a terrible option but not my first choice in the Iron Bound area of Newark.

Yelp
Another great visit, came for Valentine's day and it was booming. Was sat on the second floor with a bunch of other date. Was a busy evening but service was top notch. They were on top of things and the wait wasn't incredibly long, thankfully. The decor is beautiful and would recommend for anyone in h the area looking for a date night spot. On pricier side but good quality is worth it. They did add an automatic gratuity.
google avatar

Nana A.

Yelp
The food was not great to me, we ordered calamari which wasn't fresh, too dry and rubbery because it was frozen and not fresh, the octopus was a bit dry also, seabass wasn't fresh either, my husband ordered the lamb chops which was the only good thing on our order

Cindy G.

Yelp
Food was great but we were late to our show at NJPAC because their kitchen was disorganized. Took 55 mins for our food to arrive. We scarfed it down with minutes to spare. Food was good, but this is not a place to go if you're on a schedule.

Yelp
I'd highly recommend this restaurant. Despite going on one of the busiest holidays for restaurants they performed to a high standard. Although when you walk towards a restaurant, you're unsure of what could be inside but once you're inside, you're amazed by the modern decor, cleanliness and immaculate food that walks by you. The customer service was top-tier! I have to give High regards to Gabriel who served as our waiter for the evening. Every staff member was attentive to us while we dining there. Also keeping in mind we had a concert to attend in the nearby area. The food was served, hot and ready while being very tasty. I would definitely come back to this restaurant even on one of the busiest days of the year. They serve large corners! So prepare for leftovers.

Yelp
Modern and elegant Portuguese Restaurant in Newark. Dined here with some friends the other night. For drinks we had a pitcher of house made sangria. Quite good. For my appetizer, I had the Chourico Portugues Assado (Portuguese sausage flambe at tableside). Very tasty. For my main I had the Paelha Valenciana (A pan of slowly cooked paella valenciana, saffron rice and select seasonings of lobster, shrimp, calms, scallops, New Zealand mussels, chicken, Portuguese sausage and cubes of pork). A huge portion. And delicious. No room for dessert. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the restrooms were clean. We will return.
google avatar

G M.

Yelp
The food - absolutely delicious. The Sangria - so good - not too heavy and not too sweet. The staff - so sweet and so hospitable, especially with a request I made for my infant. Would I go back ? Maybe - if the portions were a little bigger, and/or sides were included in all menu items.

Yelp
i want to edit 2 words from each line and from each paragraph I've eaten at this restaurant many times over the years. The cuisine and beverages are consistently excellent, and the venue itself keeps improving and evolving. I recently hosted my son's christening in their new upstairs space and WOW! Simply stunning. Service, atmosphere, food... just everything impeccable!

Yelp
Good upscale restaurant perfect for special occasions!! There is a lot of seating and when we were there we didn't need to make a reservation. The food was pretty good but took a bit of time to come out, but the paella is a MUST TRY!!!

Yelp
Restaurant is beautiful inside. Could be for casual friends or a nice romantic dinner. Wish the rooftop was open. Service was top notch. We started with escargot which were large and delicious. Also had the garlic shrimp and chorizo. Both were equally tasty. I ordered the grilled octopus with eggplant and shrimp. It was phenomenal. Others ordered the steak and raved that it was perfect. Stuffed sole was fresh and had a wonderful flavor. Desserts were yummy!! Drinks were great!! Will definitely return!! For those looking for a cheap restaurant... this is not the place for you.

Yelp
Good food and atmosphere Nice location in newark Pricey but nice experience with friends/co workers

Yelp
Prices are ridiculously high especially where it is located! Food is OK basically pay for the presentation and the pretty flower.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Wasn't the biggest fan of the food here. The clams I ordered were so salty is was practically inedible. Skirt steak was extremely chewy. My cod fish arrived at the table on a terracotta tile over an open flame sterno can. Looked cool, but unfortunately it was overcooked. The only things I liked were the sangria, dessert and bread. Most of the restaurants in the ironbound area of Newark all seem plagued serving the exact same quality of food. Like others have mentioned, prices are completely over the top for the quality of food you're getting. Service was amazing, and the space inside was actual very nice! It has a elegant casual atmosphere. Would come back to the bar but won't be ordering any food.
google avatar

Ben D.

Yelp
Really 3 1/2 vs 3....worth a visit when in the area, this spot is putting some good dishes on the table. Appetizers are fine but the entrees are the standouts. Cowboy rib-eye, while lacking aged flavor, more than makes up for it with well executed preparation.

Yelp
My best restaurant experience thus far! My family and I celebrated our son's birthday at Adega and what an incredible experience it was! Service: Top notch Food: Delicious Decor: Super elegant Ambiance: incredible Let me start with the service! Adega offered us top notch service! All of our severs (yup! SERVERS, we had more than one server attend to us) were incredibly polite, answered all of our questions and were overly attentive to our needs! A little gratitude goes a long way, I always say! Special thanks to: Hugo, Aldo, Tyler and Marco! You were all incredibly professional and polite! Your service was outstanding! Thank YOU all! Onto the food, we ordered, everything was delicious: Appetizers: Camarão á Guilho Chorizo Espanhol Ameijoas Casino Main: Pelha Marinheira or Valenciana Salmao Recheado Filet Mignon Marsala Piletes de Bronzini com Linguini, Camarao, Berbigao Bolhao Pato Dessert: Carrot Cake Coppa Strawberries and Caramel Creme Brulee Chocolate Soufflé Upon arrival, we were courteously greeted by the hostess, who politely escorted us to our table. I was overly impressed with how clean and beautiful this establishment is! Super elegant! The ambiance is to die for as well! Very mellow and classy at the same time! I truly and highly recommend Adega Grill to all my yelpers! I will be returning for more of a romantic date with my wife that's for sure! And will most definitely return on a more regular basis with my family! Thank you Adega for such a memorable experience! I will see you again!

Yelp
First time coming here, thought it was ok. My friend spoke highly of the place, but I wasn't much of a fan here. The food was a bit cold when we got it. The seating here wasn't a problem. I liked the Sangria. I felt eh seafood was ok. Half the order didn't come out when we got out food though, so I was a bit upset about that. Ended up leaving.

Yelp
Adega Grill is our go-to for special occasions: graduation, birthday, anniversary, etc! The seafood platter is a treat for me and my family of 4! There's enough food for all of us! Tomahawk is a must try, especially to steak lovers out there! Don't forget to order a glass or pitcher of sangria!

Yelp
I always love going to Adega but yesterday the service from the head waiter was very sorry. I was really disappointed.

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is superb. The price is kind of high but the salad is affordable. I don't think the food is that good but I would come back if I can
google avatar

Sharon B.

Yelp
Adega grill is a favorite of mine! I love sitting at the long bar and ordering a glass of wine, shrimp in garlic sauce and an espresso. The food does not disappoint.

Melanie H.

Yelp
The food was subpar. There was four of us and two of us ordered the salmon special. The salmon was overcooked with lots of bones and the baked potato was undercooked and hard. I sent the potato back and it came back warm and hard. I asked the other guest who ordered the same dish and he was more polite and tolerant than me, but he did not enjoy his dish and had the same issue with the potato and salmon. Pretty sure the menu said over spinach and instead received broccoli rabe. Another guest ordered the cod and it was also full of bones. The only guest who enjoyed his meal ordered the prawn dish, but he specifically said he didn't want the shells He got the shells anyway. The service and ambiance were nice. A lot of money for nothing special.

Yelp
Located on busy and bustling Ferry St in Newark lies really amazing Portuguese food! Yes I know this area is famously known for it but just here me out! Adega is a huge and beautiful restaurant. This restaurant in my opinion has two styles. One is old school rustic Portugal and the other is modern contemporary and sleek. Beautiful space to have gatherings even a wedding which a friend of mine had a year ago. The upstairs space is Devine! I came for a date night and was seated in the old school side which is cozy and inviting. This place has a huge menu so it may take a while to make selections because everything sounds good and the food passing by for other customers looks good so I couldn't focus lol. We started with the garlic shrimp and fried calamari! The garlic sauce was perfection!! I used my bread to dip away because that's only right! The fried Calamari was light and fresh! U could tell this was not frozen out the box and the seasoning was just enough!! I decided for my main to get the lamb chops and wowwww from the first bite I was transported to another dimension in yummy town!! I ordered them medium and they were chefs kiss delish! The sauce and sautéed veggies added to the tender and perfectly seasoned chops! I simply can't say enough about them!! I hubby ordered the Filet M and lobster tail. He loved the steak but the lobster tail was pretty tough. He decided to let the waiter know who wasn't very pleasant about it but we didn't pay much attention to that because no one run us date nights! Lol In the end the waiter apologized for his snappy behavior (I guess he realized his reaction was inappropriate) so all was well no big deal. The white Sangria was good but too strong for me...I'm a light weight though. Over all o enjoyed my meal and the ambiance and will def be back! Oh and they have a free parking lot down there street on Madison St so don't let the lack of parking stop u from coming!!!

Yelp
BEAUTIFUL place, delicious food with great portions. We ordered shrimp and garlic, chorizo, Bife a Cowboy Texano, Bife a Diana, Crème Brûlée, Tiramisu, Cappucino and everything was delicious. Not to mention a pitcher of Sangria. It's a little pricey but if you're looking to splurge (and impress), this place is it. Great ambience, lounge, vibe with chill music playing in the background, excellent service along with the beautiful decor, is sure to impress!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place and get to go here for lunch almost once a month and look forward to it every time The shrimp appetizers are amazing and well proportioned Sometimes we will get 2 meals and split amongst 3 of us as the portions are large and it's hard to pick just one entree Great service especially at the bar!
google avatar

Nelson M.

Yelp
Happy hour drinks and appetizers were solid. Lovely waitresses are quite helpful and attentive providing efficient service. The ambiance is a cool bar vibe in a comfortable setting.

Yelp
One of the premier, older Portuguese ( Spanish) places in the infamous Ironbound section of Newark where you can always get a very good meal and excellent service. Very good liquor & wine selection too. Street parking and some lot available if you know where to look. There is the Adega Lounge which is a long narrow bar with very special bartenders, great atmosphere, and a full menu to eat at the bar. Connected and right next to it is the dining room where you can eat like a king. Excellent Sangria too. A group of us went out for drinks and ordered many appetizers ( tapas) such as : Camarao a Guilho: Shrimp sauteed with garlic and olive oil Chistorra a Adega: Spanish sausage, shrimp and mushrooms in brown sauce Conquilhas San Jacques: Scallops and shrimp sauteed with white wine (vinho verde) topped with melted mozzarella We ordered 2 of these entress and all picked...it was a perfect meal NY Bife Sirloin na Tabua com Grelos e Batata Assada: NY sirloin, short ribs, pork loin, chicken beast, sausage and bacon, all charcoal grilled, served with rice and beans It has a very large menu with something for everyone: beef, lamp, chicken. and fish. Not to mention paella! (and did I mention service was top class?) Highly recommended
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Nice outside area and a great place to get a quick beer and appetizer outside. Decent service. Could have been better but our server was beautiful and nice. Just had to chase her down a couple times for ordering and paying at the end. Looks like it might be a nice place to bring someone at night as well. We were there late afternoon and not too many people there but super nice.
google avatar

Sugeidy P.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday! Food is amazingggggg!! I had the chicken and shrimp, my best friends had the tuna tartar. The sangria here is also AMAZING! Highly recommend! The staff was really nice and attentive. We were sitting outside and they were on it! Will be back soon

Yelp
First time I went there 4 or 5 yrs ago...was excellent! I went there recently...terrible! I wanted to switch it up and finally take my boyfriend out on a date...where I take him to a spot he's never been and I pay. The thought was great and so was the memory I had of this place, but the experience was nothing of the sort. The inside is absolutely beautiful. The drinks were good. My boyfriend ordered a dish that didn't come out as advertised/as described on the menu. It was missing an item. He asked our server for assistance and then after for a manager. The manager came out and made the situation worse than necessary. How so? Started out careless, looked like he was bothered to be speaking to us, said the dish is okay as is, and mentioned how much the restaurant pays for an individual item on my boyfriends plate (to make a point?) Just wrong. Afterward the server avoided the table like a plague. It was awkward leaving and saying thanks and goodbye to him (because of how he looked on his end). Meanwhile HIS service was actually good and there was absolutely no issue with him individually. It's crazy when you are calm and communicating effectively and people make things worse and then make YOU feel like you're doing something wrong. With how management handled that mini situation and magnified it into pure feces, all of the other more recent reviews that describe a terrible experience make total sense now. It seems they are inconsistent with what service and atmosphere they provide. With the amount you spend here, I know we'd all hope for a surely positive experience, not a gamble. It's good until it's not. I apologized to my boyfriend several times for even bringing him here. I wouldn't go back or recommend this place like I once used to.

Yelp
Had to add an updated review, but this place is starting to make a turn for the worst. Most of the energy seems to be going towards the updated lounge and rooftop plans, while the quality of service and food has declined. Waited so long for our food since the focus was on the bigger parties. On top of that, the jumbo shrimp must have shrank on the way to the table and the crab stuffing was more breadcrumbs than crab. For the price increases, Adegas should do way better. Also, thanks for making my 70+ year old uncle feel awkward by making him take his baseball hat off just to go to the dining area. How about keeping the dining area entrance open so we don't have to go through the wannabe, NYC, exclusivity vibe of your lounge entrance?
google avatar

Evon S.

Yelp
Came for Mother's Day. It was great. Just tight in the dining areas. Food was delicious.

Yelp
I did not attend this spot but was able to try one of their dishes. From looking at their menu, there were many choices to pick from with lots of variety too. I was able to eat the bife da saia na Brasa ($32.95). It was charcoal grilled skirt steak served with Spanish style potatoes, saffron rice, and fresh vegetables. There was a lot of each component on the plate. The steak was cooked ideally, and the charcoal really enhanced the pieces of meat. The potatoes were really good, soft, and seasoned to perfection. The rice was a little undercooked, but not terribly while the string beans were a nice addition as well. Overall, the dish was satisfying and fulfilling. Will I go back? I did not actually dine there but would head over.

Jose N.

Yelp
Adega Grill will never let you down. Between its Seafood and meats it's a hard place to pass. A must try
google avatar

Tess Marie R.

Yelp
Surprised by the decoration very heavy and very " cliché " Portugal is today a modern country with good taste: here the colors are so dark and plastic grapes everywhere make the ambiance very depressing. Prices are completely exaggerated for what the place is. The food is lack luster, doesn't have much taste and doesn't justify the high price. It's Newark, yet it's more expensive than a lot of classy New York restaurants. The service and customer service are nonexistent. Really a bad experience, the worst I have had in a long long time. We didn't get asked if the food was okay, if we wanted anything else, etc. Took over 15 minutes to come even ask if we wanted our check or desert or anything. Honestly disappointing and will never be back. Even if I was given a free dinner here I would pass.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Great service, wonderful authentic preparations, follow the waiters guidance. The menu is great extensive. Something for everyone. Have the flaming sausage served table side as an appetizer.

Yelp
Upscale trendy Portuguese spot in the heart of the ironbound section where the food is delicious and the vibes were even better! Their renovated space is gorgeous making it perfect for date nights, business meetings and they also have an upstairs private space for celebrations!

N A.

Yelp
Food and drinks are overpriced especially for the area. Noisy, rowdy, and classless environment isn't for everyone. Parking is nearly impossible and street congestion isn't worth the hassle for the experience.

Yelp
Such a cute little place on ferry st. The decor is beautiful. Feels very fancy inside. I heard they were expanding the restaurant to the next door building so it will b exciting to see the changes. I must say the food here is reallllly good like wow. I definitely agree with others this is a hidden gem. Started off with rolls and butter (heck yes...bring on the carbs)! Also, ordered a small $16 pitcher of sangria. They know how to make sangrIa well! Ordered a second pitcher too lol. But I would say if you know you want sangria to just get a large pitcher because the waiter told us it was cheaper to order that after we ordered seconds :( The cool thing is you can never fully finish your glass of sangria because the waiter comes right over to fill you glass for you lol. Nice gesture but I was getting the short end of the stick on refills because I drank slower lmao. Anyway, for dinner I had the sea bass in champagne sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. HEAVEN in your mouth omg that sea bass is sooo tender, flaky and that champagne sauce is to die for. It pairs really well with the sea bass. I would certainly recommend this meal! I didn't care so much for the mashed potatoes. One because they were garlic mashed potatoes which was no mentioned in the description of the meal and I dislike garlic mash ewww and it just wasnt as creamy as I would have hoped for. They should probably say it's garlic mashed potatoes for people who have food allergies!! My coworker got the lobster and scallop pasta. Very tasty with three good size lobster tails and big scallops. It's definitely enough to split with somebody or take home for another meal. For dessert (yes I have no idea how I made room for dessert but I did) I tried the plain creme brûlée (they have options for a berry or I think peach one? Can't recall). Man o man was it good! I was literally and conspicuously scraping my bowl haha. For service, the waiter was pretty attentive in the beginning, however, he got two very large parties at the end of my meal and totally forgot about us. We waited maybe 30 minutes just to get the check because all the attention was on the two big parties ordering a million sangria pitchers etc. Parking is very limited. It's street parking however it seems to be free after a certain time. I went around 7pm and it said free parking when I tried to pay just FYI. The restaurant can easily be missed because there is no sign saying the name of the place just look for some outdoor seating gathered together and you'll see a brown framed door. Wala that's the entrance.

Yelp
Ambiance, food, and service was amazing. Definitely a must go for an intimate dinner or dinner with friends and family.

Yelp
I'm sad writing this review because it means I'm done eating at Adega's and I don't want to be. This is literally a gem in the middle of Ferry st. Yes, parking can be a little rough but it is so worth it! Came here on a date around 9 on a Friday night and we were seated right away. It was a little noisier since we were seated by the bar but I imagine any other night it's not as hectic. We went with shrimp in garlic sauce as an appetizer. It was a hefty 17 bucks but the amount of shrimp that came in the app was well worth it. We actually ended up taking some home because it was so much. I went with the salmon recheado and I'm gonna be dreaming about it until I go back. Delicious, perfectly cooked flaky salmon stuffed with a chunk of lobster, spinach and a crabmeat mixture. It was absolutely perfection. It was served with mashed potatoes which I didn't care for but the veggies and fish were enough to make this dish a star. My date got a veal dish and it was huge. We both took half our meals home and trust me they were just as great the next day. We ended the night with an espresso, tea and a slice of tres leches. This is a great spot to come for a dinner when you want fantastic fresh seafood and feel like splurging. Completely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
I'm so glad I found this gem through a bday dinner. The service was great the waitstaff did a phenomenal job at being attentive to ten people. The put us in a back room that was so beautiful and in the cut great privacy. The decor in the room was sooo nice. Now to the drinks to be honest it was a hit or miss with their cocktails but you can never go wrong with some wine. The food was great I was so full after having the warm bread and mussels for appetizer that once the entree came out I was so full lol but I definitely had to try the food when it's out. It was great then and also the next day doggie bag was just as great lol can't wait to come back for a date night.

Yelp
Haven't been to eat in Newark for Awhile. I was excited to have Portugese food but unfortunately was very disappointed. Service was great. We ordered the Skirt Steak & Red Snapper Special to Split between the 2 Of us. Wanted a bottle of Prosecco but they were All out of it so we had to get splits instead. Both dishes came out cold not room temperature but cold. We tried to eat it but every single thing was cold and not enjoyable. We sent it back letting the bartender know it was ALL cold. She apologized and brought it back to the kitchen. It literally came out within 5 minutes. I'm in the business ans so is my friend. The food came back missing out Onion rings and tasted like it was just left under a hear lamp for 5 minutes. TERRIBLE!!!! These dishes are $30.-$35 a plate and it was not good at all. We obviously couldn't send it back again Knowing the kitchen would be annoyed with us. We ate most of it reluctantly. Our bill was $145. For Cold food!!! I would never recommend this place to anyone ever again. Used to come here when I worked in Newark but haven't been since I moved. I will never go back gor this expensive terrible food. I'm sure there are much better places I just have to ask around.
