Cozy, independently owned Moroccan kitchen known for bastilla, lamb tagines, and mint tea. The owner confirms all meats are halal, and it’s a favorite for hearty couscous and warm service.

Seafood Bastille is average. Way too much oil in the fry. Very little seafood. Chicken Tagine is excellent as is the bread with it. Slightly higher salt. Mint tea came with sugar but was replaced without when requested. tasted good without the sugar. Nice little spot. Good decor. Friendly and efficient service.

We had a delicious lamb kebab and vegetarian tagine. The food is excellent but it’s not a place for a romantic first date. You go for the food not ambiance. There is a lot of noise… every time a person enters the restaurant a beep is triggered. From the kitchen area is a constant beeping noise from, I think, online orders. But noise aside, the food is great!

Deeply Disappointed - Overpriced, Poor Quality, and Questionable Hygiene We visited this restaurant during lunch hours and found it completely empty, which should have been our first warning sign. Still, we decided to give it a chance, especially since it had surprisingly high ratings online, which, in hindsight, we find very questionable. We ordered the chicken bastilla, lamb tagine with prunes and almonds, the mixed meat kebab platter, and the beef sirloin kebab maghdour. Our total came to over $100, which was shockingly expensive for the small portion sizes we received. The wait time was unusually long, despite the restaurant being empty. When the food finally arrived, the problems began: The chicken bastilla was dry and tasted off, with a filling that did not seem fresh. The sirloin maghdour was downright spoiled. With the first bite, I got an immediate taste of rotten meat, which made me gag. My family tried it as well and confirmed that many pieces had the same foul odor—clear signs the meat had gone bad. The lamb tagine was tolerable but far from memorable, lacking the depth and richness typically associated with Moroccan cuisine. When the mixed meat kebab platter arrived, we were stunned by the minute quantity. The kebabs were dry, flavorless, and again, one of the sirloin kebab pieces had the same rotten taste as the maghdour. We couldn’t finish the meal, which is rare for us. This was easily one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had, both in terms of quality and value. We left feeling completely unsatisfied and frankly concerned about food safety. To add to the issues, the restroom was unclean, and we observed that only one person was managing everything-from taking orders and cooking to fixing the restroom commode-which raises serious questions about hygiene and sanitation. We were left confused about the high online ratings, as our experience was nowhere near what those reviews suggest. Perhaps they were inflated or outdated, but we genuinely hope others don’t fall into the same trap we did. Not recommended. Save your money and your stomach.

A Hidden Moroccan Gem – Five Stars All Around We stumbled upon this incredible Moroccan restaurant and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, the service wasn’t just friendly—it was genuinely warm and above and beyond anything we expected. You could feel the hospitality in every detail. We ordered the vegetarian dishes, and they were nothing short of extraordinary. The aromas alone were enough to transport us straight to Marrakech. Every bite was perfectly seasoned, rich in flavor, and beautifully presented. It was so good, we came back for more. This place is a rare find—authentic, flavorful, and filled with heart. Five stars all the way.

Google
Truly some of the best food I’ve ever had! The flavors were incredibly complex and the portions were huge! We split the chicken bastilla appetizer and I had the Chicken Couscous with Raisins & Onion, pics are attached. Will be coming back the next time I’m in SF!

I ordered the Kefta Kebab and the Keftah Taijin - both were delicious. It was delivery and their packaging wasn’t secure. Because of that there were oil leaks in the bag. Would request to have secure packaging so that there are no leaks.

We had a great meal here after picking it on a whim based on other Google reviews. The menu was small but we each found something we wanted. All of the dishes were great and I think we liked the chicken bastilla the most.

Google
Wow, what an amazing meal! We ordered artichoke salad, lamb tagine, saffron rice, mint tea and sparkling water. Everything was just amazing. The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth good. Just slipped right off the bone. Service was excellent here, so attentive and friendly. If I lived in the city I would come here all the time. We were craving lamb and we are so glad that we found this spot. Authentic, delicious, what a treat!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night with a friend. It wasn't super busy, which meant service was fairly quick. Salad trio: I liked this as a tasting! And the bread that went with it was quite good too. Lamb tagine with almond and prunes: the lamb literally fell off the bone as started to cut with a fork. This was unbelievably good. Beef kebab maghdour: this is a new dish. Full of flavor and so good. The beef was definitely tougher than the lamb tagine, but still very good. Cinnamon couscous: yuuum. And fits well with the flavors of the meat dishes Prices were very reasonable and I left very full. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
it was like i was eating butter which i definitely don't do but it was like that. everything was so, so tender and so, so flavorful. ultra delicious. they were great about checking up on us and gave us free bread that i kept devouring immediately upon arrival

Yelp
Since we spent some time with our Berber friends in Morocco, we've been ordering our Friday couscous and dinners from Aicha. Their traditional Moroccan menu and spices are amazing! My husband loves the bread, it's really good. I'm still on the hunt for Tafarnout bread in San Francisco, which I absolutely adore. We've tried almost everything on Aicha's menu and haven't been disappointed. I'm totally smitten with their kafta!

Yelp
My favorite Moroccan restaurant in San Francisco so far! We been there a few times and were always satisfied. They have the traditional couscous and tagine recipes. It's a hole in the wall with tasty food and affordable prices

Yelp
I love Moroccan cuisine and this neighborhood spot in San Francisco is the perfect casual spot to open the doors to Moroccan food. I have been going to Aicha for the past few years and some of the other Moroccan restaurants in San Francisco offer belly dancing and music and a more pricier menu. Aicha is a good introduction to Moroccan cuisine. My friends and I ordered the chicken kebabs, the lamb tagine, kefta tagine and the fabulous chicken bastilla. The lambs were tender and came with a really good sauce as well as the kefta tagine which is beef and lamb meatballs. The kefta sauce goes very well with the riceband bread. The chicken bastilla is one of my favorite appetizers and it's a meat pie with combination of sweet and savory flavors that is topped with powdered sugar and cinnamon. The letdown though was the chicken kebabs which were pretty hard and dry. I've had it before in the past and it's normally tender but last night, it was pretty dry. Service is normal and they are very short staffed, so it's just one guy pretty much doing all of the work, so be prepared to be patient, but be prepared to enjoy amazing food as well. Love it!

Yelp
Probably one of the best meals we've had in San Francisco. Lamb couscous was amazing - though maybe that's just Moroccan food, idk. Sprinted here to get a quick bite before a concert (was a bite out of the way). The boyfriend was a bit skeptical until he had the first bite. So good! Great combination of sweet and spices and savory. Bastilla was also good, maybe a bit sweet, could have used something more acidic to complement, but alas we only had two stomachs to fill.

Yelp
One merguez over rice & lettuce doesn't make a couscous in my humble opinion... disappointing

Yelp
The food here is outstanding. I have had the lamb kebab (not lamb chops kebab) with rice and salad for years. The consistency and quality stays the same, the price has stayed the same or almost the same as well. And the work crew has been the same for years.

Yelp
Second time I've been here. Tried the Chicken Tagine and Chicken Couscous with raisins and onions. We both agreed the couscous was the better choice. Both time I went I enjoyed the mint tea and service. I also thought the price was reasonable. Ambiance was ok. Overall I would go back. Recommended!

Yelp
Very solid food. The sampler starter was very good (carrots were a standout). Kefta and lamb shank cous cous were also tasty. Mint tea is sweetened but isn't labeled that way - good but was a bit of a surprise. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Glad I stumbled across this small hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Nob Hill! We started off with the Moroccan Mint Tea Pot, which came with great presentation (e.g., beautiful pot, poured from a high height) and was surprisingly sweet. Then, for our mains, we got lamb tagine with green peas and chicken cous cous with raisins. Both were very hearty and came with generous portions! I had never had Moroccan food before so the flavors were very unique, and now my interest is piqued for the next Moroccan restaurant I see!

Yelp
Fair prices for such quality good . I tried the lentil soup first time there and it was amazing and also fairly priced . I faint wait to come back and try more . Great job and thanks for bringing your culture to SF

Yelp
The food was absolutely amazing, I don't know where to begin. The mint tea is perfect. This was my first time having bastilla and it was incredible we also ordered kefta tagine and chicken couscous. The service was also great and homey, I can't wait to go back

Yelp
Aicha Moroccan Cuisine is a friendly, cozy restaurant offering a menu of authentic Moroccan dishes in a homey atmosphere. We started with the Salad Trio, a platter of zaalook (grilled mashed eggplant), taktouka (spicy grilled bell peppers and tomatoes), and carrots a la charmoula (pickled carrots with lemon vinaigrette and olive oil). The eggplant and bell peppers were served warm, while the soft carrots were served cold, and everything went nicely with the round of crusty, soft Moroccan bread that came on the side. Next, we had the Seafood Bastilla, a phyllo pastry pie with a filling of vermicelli noodles and mixed seafood including shrimp, calamari, and fish. The flaky phyllo dough was topped with a crispy layer of cheese on top and served with a spicy chili sauce on the side, and while the bastilla was tasty, I simply wished that there was more seafood in the filling. For our main dishes, the "Royal" kebab came with a variety of grilled meats, including chicken kebab, lamb kebab, beef sirloin kebab, kefta (ground meat) kebab, and merguez (lamb sausage), and each of the meats was juicy and perfectly seasoned. But my favorite dish of all was the Lamb Tagine with Prunes & Almonds. This was a stew containing a whole lamb shank (with super tender meat) cooked with caramelized onions and prunes and topped with almonds and sesame seeds. The tagine was pure deliciousness and combined the sweetness of the dried fruit and caramelized onions with the earthy crunch of the almonds and sesame seeds with the heartiness of the meat. The stew was perfect for eating with Moroccan bread on the side, and the flavors brought me right back to Marrakesh! Overall, this was a fantastic restaurant with great flavors, affordable prices, and super hospitable service too!

Yelp
This is the best couscous I've had in the States. It's better than the couscous I've had in Morocco. The kefta is possibly the best kefta I have ever had. It's saturated in flavor, they must marinate it for hours. And they grill some sausage that's also really amazing. The tri-salad is awesome also. I could have just eaten that tri-salad by itself. The service is really friendly. We came on Christmas eve so we were the only ones there with a to-go couple that walked in, but my sister told me it's always a bit empty. Crazy. Like crazy. I don't know why this place isn't packed every night.

Yelp
Amazing Moroccan food, nice ambience , we will come here again and don't forget to ask for the dessert the Moroccan cookies will blow you away !10 stars if I could give it 10

Yelp
I came here for the chicken bastilla, but ended up enjoying another dish way more: the chicken couscous with raisins and onions. So good! The sweet and saltiness of it worked very well together. The dish was topped with sliced half cooked egg and dates which added to its goodness. The chicken bastilla (sweet chicken pastry) had scrambled egg in it which I didn't love and it was slightly burnt on the bottom. It was good in general though. The other dish we ordered was the beef kabob plate which was decent. The spices made the beef taste slightly lamb like. It came with pilaf and a feta cranberry salad. The salad was wonderful. I'd like to come back to try their tagines (clay pots).
google avatar

Yelp
I'll preface this by saying I've hardly ever had Moroccan food! It's a quaint little restaurant. I ordered the chicken bastilla to-go, and it was pretty good! It was very fun to eat, but like another reviewer said, probably best to split it with someone and try something else as well. The chicken is super tender, crust has a nice crunch, but it was just a little too sweet for me. Would love to go back and try the meat dishes!

Yelp
Food was sublime! Highly recommend the lamb tagine with prune and almond, and the kefta kebab. We also had the saffron rice with olives, chicken bastilla, and the Moroccan mint tea pot.

Yelp
Nestled in an unassuming nook that could easily be missed by the untrained eye, Aicha is the culinary equivalent of finding a rare gem in a sea of stones. This little Moroccan haven might look modest from the outside, but step through its doors, and you're instantly enveloped in a tapestry of scents and colors that whisk you away to a bustling market in Fez. It's the kind of place you'd walk past without a second glance, only to kick yourself later once you discover what culinary treasures lie within. Now, let's talk about the showstopper, the pièce de résistance, the reason you'll be dreaming about Aicha long after you've left: the lamb tagine with almonds and prunes. This dish is the culinary equivalent of a warm hug from a long-lost friend; it's comforting, it's familiar, yet it's unlike anything you've ever tasted. The lamb is so tender, it practically melts in your mouth, a testament to hours of loving preparation. The almonds add a crunch that's music to your ears, and the prunes? They bring a sweetness that ties everything together in a harmonious symphony of flavors that's as decadent as it is humble. Aicha may be a hole in the wall, but it's bursting at the seams with soul. The ambiance is unpretentious, with a charm that feels like you've been transported to a Moroccan family's dinner table. It's the kind of place where the food does the talking, and oh, how eloquently it speaks. Don't let the modesty of Aicha fool you; the flavors here are bold, vibrant, and unabashedly authentic. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most extraordinary experiences come from the most unexpected places. So, if you're looking to embark on a culinary adventure that's as genuine as it is delicious, Aicha is your passport to a world of Moroccan delights. Just be prepared to leave with a full stomach and a heart longing to return.

Yelp
I ordered the chicken couscous! As a Moroccan I'm very picky when it comes to Moroccan food. This place did miss the mark for me u fortunately! Couscous was blend needed flavors / spices , the veggies were over cooked and did not taste fresh. The food god me bit sick after eating it to be honest and that happens when I eat food that is not fresh and has been warmed up. I think they used microwave to warm up the couscous that is why I got sick from their couscous. I don't think I'll be coming back again.
google avatar

Mike T.

Yelp
This place is such a gem. The food here is just outstandingly delicious, from the delicately spiced couscous with raisins or their rich Basteeya. At the price it's also an unbelievable deal. We get takeout at least once a month since we discovered this place - and hope it always be around. There's no better place that I know of in SF to get such good Moroccan food at this price point. And frankly, having been to Mourad, Aziza, I think this place is every bit as good. Their Basteeya is better!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food. Opened a new world for me. I've never had Moroccan food before and I just came across this restaurant's UberEats page and the pictures of the dishes all looked very appetizing, so I decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did. The lamb in the lamb shank tagine i ordered was so soft and tender and moist, fell right off the bone, fulled of flavors and yet you can still taste and feel the strong and unique aroma of lamb. I'm obsessed. I feel like I haven't tasted what lamb tasted like for so long. I really like the peas and carrots too as they were also super soft and flavorful. The complimentary bread that it comes with was delicious too, it has a nice chewy texture on the outside and super soft and airy on the inside, which made it perfect for sucking up the juices from the lamb shank tagine. I wish I can order more bread as it goes with the dish more than rice does. I will definitely come back and try out other dishes.

Julian B.

Yelp
The meal my family had at Aicha Moroccan was excellent. When visiting any big city I always look for a Moroccan, Tunisian or Ethiopian restaurant (FYI I'm Australian not North African ...) and I have eaten at lots and Aicha was one of the best. Delicious artichoke salad, flavorful and tender lamb tagine, a really nice chicken couscous, the actual couscous with raisins and cinnamon was a treat and some fine mint tea to go along with it all. The service was great, the place was not crowded on a Friday night and the dishes are inexpensive by any standard but certainly for a place so good. The ambiance was good (and benefitted from the great San Francisco night) but I dine out for the food not the ambiance. It wasn't super loud, which I also appreciate, and the conversation was in a language I did not understand. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Randomly found this little restaurant while walking around the city and decided to check it out for dinner. The place wasn't packed so we had chosen a nice corner booth table. The server promptly gave us the menus and we decided on our orders after he answered our questions. To start, we shared the artichoke salad. It was decent-sized and had good portions of feta, artichokes, carrots, olives, and grape tomatoes. It tasted fresh and had a nice flavor combination. For our entrees, I had the chicken bastilla and hubby had the lamb tagine. The chicken bastilla was very tasty (better than the one I had in another Moroccan restaurant). It was packed with meat and other ingredients. The phyllo dough was delightful as well. The lamb tagine was tender and flavor-packed. Service though can be improved. There was only one server working the tables and spent most of time inside the kitchen than serving patrons. Not sure if he was helping out inside or not. Also the time between dishes was quite short (entrees were sent out soon after we got our salad). A solid 4 -- top marks for the food and less for the service.

Yelp
Everything is so fresh tasting and cooked to perfection. Great vegetarian options!! The vegetable tagine and bastilla are absolutely delicious. The mint tea is 10/10.

Yelp
We visited the local restaurant on a very rainy day in sf :( The experience was worth the short walk from our apt. It was not very crowded & the one host poured our mint tea like he was a magician with balance & grace. I wish I would of video taped it! I was so in the moment. We tried the beef kabobs & the lamb couscous. Both were delectable. And the mint was super sweet & super hotttt!

Yelp
The food is incredible, so very close to what I've had in Tunisia. The portions are generous. Highly recommend the sausages!

Yelp
A classic Moroccan spot with great tasting traditional Moroccan dishes, which pair amazingly with their mint tea. The bastilla was the star of the show. Friendly service and a nice spot to sit down in for a bite of food.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Lamb shank fell off the bone and was really flavorful. Mint tea was as fresh and tasty as other reviewers mention. Baklava was sweet and flaky. Service was very friendly. The place was pretty empty, but don't let that keep you away! I'll definitely be going back.

Yelp
A fantastic little Moroccan restaurant on Polk street. The prices are affordable and portion sizes are hearty. The flavors are really unique and they use interesting ingredients like lemon confit and saffron. Service is good and the place has a homey yet exotic vibe. We liked the Chicken confit which was cooked in a Tagine pot and which came with the softest yet crunchiest bread. We also got saffron rice which was cooked with olives and peas. The meat was incredibly soft and the lemon confit imparted a subtle tang. The chicken dish was half a chicken and also had olives. Would be incredible on a cold windy day.

Yelp
we had the beef couscous, chicken tagine, and their salad trio and everything was so delicious! I'm Moroccan and I was so happy to get traditional, delicious tasting food at such a good price. Service was amazing and the food was even better. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Mai H.

Yelp
As a Moroccan customer, this restaurant is absolutely incredible! I have tried several Moroccan restaurants across the United States, including fine dining ones, and this one easily tops every single one. This is by far the most authentic Moroccan cuisine that I've had outside of Morocco itself! I highly recommend their tagines or appetizers, although I doubt you can go wrong with anything on the menu. The food is incredibly flavorful and seasoned exactly how a homemade Moroccan meal is. They also give generous portions and it's been a consistently positive experience. This spot needs more recognition- thank you for doing this cuisine justice and bringing a piece of my home to San Francisco!

Helen H.

Yelp
best Moroccan food in San Francisco. their Bastille is awesome. It's a " mom and pop " type atmosphere. Highly recommend it. And the prices are reasonable.

Cody C.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Easily the best lamb chops I've ever had. The artichoke salad appetizer was fresh and tasty. I usually don't drink tea, but the Moroccan tea was amazing.

Yelp
best Moroccan food that you can have outside your home. food is very authentic. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in Morocco.

Yelp
Really great authentic Moroccan cuisine. The food was great! I was able to try some new dishes. Some of it has an acquired taste but it was pretty good. The owner made sure our experience was great!

Yelp
Delicious bastillas, couscous, and tagines! Service is so-so. Prices are pretty good for quality of food and portions.

Yelp
Came back for a second time. As expected the food was great and the service was excellent.

Yelp
Their portions are so generous and the wait staff was so friendly! This was my first time getting Moroccan in the city and it was great. We started with Zaalook and it was delicious, it was a little bit spicy but perfect with the bread. I had the chicken couscous which I thought was really flavorful too. Their lamb dishes were also amazing, with the meat falling off the bone.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious comfort food. The best services they are so attentive and make sure you have all that you need. Great size servings and enjoyed everything we had. Perfect gem found walking down a random street!
google avatar

Yelp
The interior of this restaurant was really impressive and well-done, it reminds you of Morocco, and Ive never even been lol. I had the lamb tagine with prunes and the chicken bastilla. Both were cooked superbly. The flavors were out of this world. It's a great date spot and also good for big groups. Would totally come back here.
google avatar

Sepideh R.

Yelp
The food is great! The owner/ cook is very friendly and helpful. What ever he recommends, we tried and it was AWESOME! I highly recommend to try this authentic cozy restaurant.

Laurence B.

Yelp
My second visit to this great little hidden gem of a restaurant, and I was not disappointed. I had the raisins and caramelized onions lamb couscous, and it was absolutely delicious! A little on the sweet side, but really flavourful. The owner spends most of the time in the kitchen, and I could hear him chopping onions. So there is no doubt everything is made from scratch. A traditional mint tea to finish off a good meal. The price was very reasonable too, so definitely my go to place when I need a good couscous.

Michael ..

Yelp
I had the veggie couscous. The flavor and portion were good, but was overall disappointing. Mostly pumpkin like squash it lacked the freshness of zucchini, carrots, or green pepper. It tasted as if it had been cooked days earlier. Service and ambiance was nice, although only one man did all the work. I left full, but not satisfied enough to want to return.

Yelp
I order for delivery on a regular basis. The food is amazing, just ask for having couscous and vegetables in separate boxes. I highly recommend !
