am an active duty servicemember and I have been in the Navy for 18 years, I have traveled the globe and prior to joining worked in several customer service jobs. I also have spent time in Iraq and Afghanistan in some austere and terrible conditions, this has molded me into who I am and I have a very very understanding personality. I understand miscommunication is common when you are managing personnel of a hotel this large in a busy city.
However, I regret to inform you that my most recent stay at the Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago was very unpleasant and disappointing. I checked in late, which provided ample time for my reserved room to be ready upon my arrival. When I arrived at my room (#612), the entire floor was wet, the carpet and tile with an industrial size fan attempting to dry it. I notified staff and was asked " do i want to move rooms?", which didn't provide me with much faith in the customer service, i replied "Yes. I do not want to move rooms." I thought it was obvious I wouldn't want to stay in a wet room and felt disrespectful to even ask.
I was moved to room #812, I unpacked and put all my clothes away, when I went to retrieve the ironing board 2 pillowcases with stains were stuck to it. Furthermore, as the other guest with me was using the shower, pointed out a bunion cushion that people use for their feet was stuck to the shower door. I contacted the front desk and they offered to change rooms. I retrieved the new keys and before I moved all my belongings, I visited the new room. When I arrived this room was also not ready, there was a used washcloth and opened bar of soap on the bathroom counter.
At this point I notified staff and they provided no solution. I was already unpacked and now running late for a pre-paid dinner and entertainment I purchased for me and my guest. I was so disheartened at this point I didn't move rooms because I lacked the faith it would get better. So I left for dinner which i was late for and my entertainment which I was late for. I remained in the room till Sunday check out and the bunion cushion from another guest was never removed my entire stay. The lack of effort was rude and unsanitary.
Once again, I have stayed in $5 rooms and $1000 rooms all across the world, i expected more and desired better conditions from a world class organization such as Hyatt, but this has definitely impacted my trust and confidence in staying with Hyatt or recommending your organization to others. We are all imperfect people, we make mistakes but no gesture or proper solution was provided to me or my guest.
