akmē - Review - Nordhavn - Copenhagen - The Infatuation

"When you show up at akmē, you might wonder if you’re in the right place. Set in a former industrial area on the waterfront in Nordhavn, the restaurant is on the ground floor of a boxy brick residential building. Step inside, though, and you’ll find a shoebox-sized space with just two tables and a chef's counter with windows overlooking the harbor. If possible, book the latter spot and watch the chefs orchestrate a near-flawless French‑meets‑Japanese tasting of around 14 courses. You won't be disappointed by anything, but you might wish some dishes were larger, namely the soft, airy choux bun, layered with a slice of buttery raw tuna, or the dessert, a nutty financier served with velvety vanilla ice cream and strawberries. Snagging a reservation can be tricky, so try to book this one two or three weeks in advance, at least." - Mary Holland

"akmē is much more than just a follow-up to Anaba Sushi – not only does this younger sister occupy Anaba’s former space, but it’s run by two young chefs who used to work on the team. Located in the former industrial harbour district, its youthful, upbeat vibe is a perfect fit for the area, and the energetic staff help to create a memorable experience for its 16 diners. The omakase menu is centred around Japanese-French fusion cuisine – offering the likes of Danish red mullet in bouillabaisse sauce – with the best spot a seat at the counter to observe how the well-conceived dishes are delicately prepared." - Michelin Inspector

Absolutely amazing meal. Tables are booked well in advance, but I was lucky enough to get in off the waitlist. This place is a staff of four and was a truly personal experience from top to bottom. Price to quality ratio was absurdly good - every dish was spot on. There's no way a Michelin star isn't headed their way in the near future. Perhaps the best overall dining experience I had in Copenhagen, all things considered, which includes a 3* just last night. Can't recommend enough.

A memorable experience in the best way possible. A beautiful emphasis on attention to detail both in service and the food. The dishes dance with Japan and France in a way that highlights and RESPECTS both kitchens elegantly. Exquisite starters mains and desserts. Beautifully paired by special wines that showcase the expertise and passion of the sommelier. Have been to Akmē over 5 times, and the team always manages to display their creativity by treating us to something new. A total must if you are visiting Copenhagen or if you just enjoy stellar food. Already booked by next visit.

Amazing dinner! Japanese style fresh fish, and a classic (and really really good!) French main course.

The best of France the best of Japan. Intimate beautifully designed space offering a fantastic omakase. Great wine pairing and by the glass and carefully selected wine list. Can’t wait to be back soon and see what they have planned for the future. This place hit the ground running.

Amazing new restaurant opened in Sushi Anabas old location by some of the chef who has also worked for Anaba in the past. They bring in a very well thought out mating of the French and Japanese cuisine that you don’t get anywhere else in Copenhagen. The dishes are all stars of the show but the wine pairing, service and cool location brings it all together and lifts the experience in to master class level.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Copenhagen. The attention to detail in both food and service is exceptional, and the wine selection is easily among the best in the city. A place I’ll definitely return to.

My wife and I had the privilege of dining here and we still can’t comprehend how perfect this entire experience was. We live in Florida and would fly back to Copenhagen just for Akme.

Had a wonderful dinner at Akmé on Friday 20 June. The food was outstanding and the level of the service and the wait staff was beyond anything I have tried before, even at Michelin star restaurant. So friendly and knowledgable and genuinely nice and funny. Just a perfect night.
