"This bustling osteria in the old Boise City National Bank building serves locally inspired Italian dishes and delicate house-made pastas. Sit at the U-shaped bar to witness all the action while sipping a classic or seasonal cocktail. Start your meal with antipasti, perhaps burrata with apricot-cherry mostarda or calamari fritti. Then choose from an array of pastas such as black ravioli stuffed with butter-poached shrimp or tagliatelle with a classic Bolognese sauce. Or go big with braised short ribs or roasted Cornish game hen." - Scott Ki, Scott Wink

I was looking for a place to have dinner for my birthday after our original reservation at another restaurant fell through due to overbooking. We walked into Àlavita and were seated right away. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the staff was fantastic!

Google
Amazing food, service and nice convenient location. Our server was very attentive and was able to easily and clearly explain the menu to us and answer all our questions. The make it yourself charcuterie board was amazing, main courses were delicious and I would definitely recommend the Sea Salt Budino to wrap up an amazing dinner. Great place for my Wife's birthday! Thank you!

Google
Justin was our waiter tonight and he took excellent care of my family and I! He had great food suggestions and wine pairings and also went the extra mile to took the time on a busy night to check in with us regularly and make sure everything was perfect. One of the best waiters we have had in a long time. Great service and delicious food, I will definitely be coming back here soon!

Google
Very impressed with the parmesan gelato. Didn’t know that parmesan could come in a very soft form that paired very well with garlic bread and jam. Rigatonni was on point too! The braised beef blent perfectly with the black garlic, roasted mushrooms and truffle butter. I enjoyed these amazing food with a shot of Frangelico (which is also a first for me). They have a wide selection of drinks. Friendly bartender and great ambiance. I highly recommend this place!

Google
We recently celebrated our anniversary, we didn’t have a reservation so we sat at the bar. It was a busy night in the restaurant, but the bartender Morgan took great care of us! He was kind and attentive even while making drinks for the whole restaurant. Our cocktails and food all tasted great, and we never waited long for anything. I would highly recommend Alavita for a special occasion or date night!

Google
While Italian isn't my normal go-to, we wanted to give it a shot after hearing a lot of great things from our friends. And it was absolutely worth it! There were a lot of options that sounded delicious and we ended up getting: Marinated Olives, Cannellini Hummus, Grilled Artichoke Hearts, and the Black Ravioli. I like a lot of flavorful food and few places actually do much to their olives, but the citrus added a nice element to them and would get them again. Now the hummus was probably the second best that I've had in the entire valley, which I'll always be getting when dining here. And the grilled artichoke hearts were very tasty, too! The venue is beautiful and transports you out of the downtown area, which is really nice. I'm excited to go back and to try some of their other menu options!

Google
Ate here a couple months ago on a date with my bf, and we were so surprised! The food was AMAZING, the atmosphere was charming, and the service was flawless! We LOVED dining here, bf told me this is one of his new favorite Italian restaurants to dine at. We’ll be back for sure!

Google
Recommend making reservations. The food was divine. Be sure to ask what the Chefs Crudo is.

Yelp
We had a delightful dinner with friends. I'm gluten free and found so many options on their menu. It was far beyond my expectations, and I can't wait to go back. Our server was wonderful and very informative about the menu. It's a comfortable, chic, relaxing environment.

Yelp
A lovely small place with attentive and friendly service. All the pasta is made from scratch daily and most of the ingredients are locally sourced. The focaccia was delicious and the honey butter is special. A great start to the meal. The Frutti di Mare was tasty and perfectly prepared. The Chicken Saltimbocca was unique. It tasted more of the prosciutto the. The chicken which is to be expected. The vegetables were prepared well and I loved the green beans. Overall I would say this place is a pricy but unique and tasty experience. Part of me wishes for some more simple dishes but that is just me. I guess I have peasant tastes. Lol. If the menu looks good to you the. This place is well worth a try. Book early as the place is well reserved.

Yelp
This is our first time in Boise and our waitress at brunch actually recommended Àlavita for us to try for dinner. We were not disappointed! We came around 8:15pm on a Friday night without a reservation and did not have to wait for a table. This restaurant is downtown and walking distance from a lot of other great shops and bars. They have a nice patio outside with a beautiful chandelier hanging above it. The interior is on the smaller side but feels larger than it is because of the high ceilings. It has an elegant and cozy vibe with dim lighting, red and black themed decor, and an overall quieter atmosphere. We each started with a glass of wine, a Sauv Blanc and a Chianti. We went with the burrata for an appetizer, it was a good serving size for two people! Light and spreadable cheese on the inside, served with plenty of bread. I've heard that this place is known for their pastas which are made fresh in house daily, so we had to try some! I went with the black ravioli and my husband got the rigatoni with braised short rib. Both were excellent! The ravioli had a nice lemon cream sauce. The braised short rib in the rigatoni was so tender and added the perfect flavor to the pasta sauce. Serving sizes were decent for a restaurant like this. Service was good, our waitress came by to check on us and refill our drinks several times. Nothing negative to say about this experience, thank you for a great first dinner in Boise!

Steven O.

Yelp
Checked out this Italian spot on a recommendation of a friend. Glad we did! Hustling and bustling they are! I recommend a reservation! We sat at the bar! What a show. Amy was working her "tail feathers" off, with flair! Drinks were tasty and inventive! The food was incredible! Super soft warm Focaccia starts it off! Calamari was great. Lamb Chops, Scallops and Saltimbocca are all superb. But save room for the Limoncello Tiramisu! Great meal and very casual/upscale space in Downtown area!

Jack B.

Yelp
Wow. The food was unbelievable. The buratta appetizer was ok - we do wish they would have warmed the cheese. But the entree's truly blew it out of the water. The rigatoni was the best pasta dish I've ever had. It was such an encompassing and fulfilling conglomerate of flavors. Just order it. Our server, Aisha, was phenomenal. Very attentive and great with recommendations. Thank you for a great date night.

Yelp
Delicious cocktails and incredible fresh pasta. Absolutely delightful. Ate at the bar, can't wait to bring my husband there for dinner. Romantic ambience.

Yelp
We found this amazing restaurant from a friend's recommendation. 10/10 on the service and food. Very friendly and attentive waitress. The food was definitely made from scratch on site. This isn't a noodles from a box kinda joint. We will definitely make it a point to eat here again.

Yelp
Great experience all around! After hearing positive reviews from friends, I made reservations online about two weeks in advanced to celebrate my husband's birthday. Unfortunately, there was a pretty bad rainstorm so we were about 10 minutes late. Luckily, they called us when they noticed we were running late which I appreciated! They were also transparent about the table time limit (1 hr 30 min) but reassured us that we'd have enough time for dinner even though we were a bit late. We ordered the Battilardo with the Chef's Selection, Black Ravioli, and the Elk Osso Bucco a la Milanese. The Battilardo was an interesting flavor rollercoaster that we enjoyed. I liked the Black Ravioli but didn't quite love it as I felt the sauce was a bit sweeter than I expected. I did, however, love the Elk Osso Bucco a la Milanese! The risotto was complex but not overwhelming. The elk was cooked well as it did not taste gamey (still a bit tough but that's elk). All in all, Àlavita is a solid dinner spot for a nice night out! Shout to our waiter Chad for his fantastic service!

Jean M.

Yelp
What an amazing experience. From the start we felt welcomed and cozy for our last night in town. Our server Shana was top notch. She made the experience unforgettable with great suggestions and professional hospitality. Our favorite was the charcuterie board with the house made dips like whipped feta and Parmesan gelato. The focaccia was delightful and the perfect vehicle to smear the goodness on! Would totally recommend to anyone!! Pro tip. Ask for Shana!

Rita M.

Yelp
Went here tonight right at 5Pm and the lady who was working at the host stand honestly had a really poor attitude since we didn't have a reservation. Otherwise the food was really good but I did get very bad energy from her and felt like she kept looking at me to get out of there.

John Y.

Yelp
Been here multiple times and it's just bad pasta and really bad customer service from management. Bartenders do their job but this idea of an upper crust establishment is embarrassing. Management's inability to deal with seating is a real issue. Reservations for the bar????!!! Ok??!!! Most importantly the pasta is gummy and sticky (I'd rather make boxed pasta) and this just makes me miss my time in NYC , DC, and Europe. Really is this the best Alavita can do?? Sadly I've learned that this is the best they can do in terms of service and food. When you come to Boise avoid this place that lacks character, true Italian food, and worst of all bad customer service. I won't be back and I look forward to visiting whatever takes over when they inevitably run their course.

Yelp
After hearing good things about Alavita for a few years, I finally decided to try it when my friend visited me from out of town. We made reservations for 6:30pm on a Sunday and got a perfect spot on the patio with a great street view of downtown. I ordered a refreshing glass of Alois Lageder Pinot Grigio which was the perfect choice for a warm Summer evening. The wine paired well with the Pappardelle pasta which had hearty pieces of sausage that were balanced out with fresh broccolini and cherry tomatoes. I think it will be my go-to dish every time! It is also important to note that their pasta is made fresh daily and you can taste its freshness! My friend is a vegetarian and the lovely hostess made an off-menu recommendation of mushroom Alfredo sauce with rigatoni noodles and her pasta rivaled my own in terms of flavor! Overall, I highly recommend Alavita! Not only was their food phenomenal but their service was top-notch. My only regret was not having enough room for dessert. I've had my eye on their Vanilla Budino and I will definitely be back soon to try it!

Teresa P.

Yelp
If you are craving good Italian food, check this place out! I recommend making reservations as the place can get crowded especially on weekends. Although you can walk in, but giving them a call wouldn't hurt as well to check on the wait time. Beautiful ambiance and decor. We were a party of 4 and served by Justin. We ordered: Drinks: Basil Foam, Zenzero Margarita, Idaho Blackberry, & Rock & Rye - No need to explain each cocktails here as they were all YUM! Battilardo with Soppressata, Prosciutto, pickled vegetables and parmesan gelato. This included jam, crostini and coffee aioli. - Delicious!! This is a perfect appetizer board while you wait for your main entrée. All the flavors match perfectly with the jam and cheese and the aioli with the meats. Great size for a party of 4. Calamari Fritti - Yummy! Fried to perfection! Light and crispy. Black Ravioli - oooh, you have got to try this! It is delicious! Perfect flavors and the shrimp is just a match. Tagliatelle - if you are looking for a red sauce with meat, this is good. Trottole - great kick with the duck confit. All the pasta dishes were delicious and al dente. Flavors of the sauces were all good and matched well. Service was great! We had a great dining experience. Definitely a place we will returning to.

Bryan F.

Yelp
Great food and attentive staff! The black ravioli that I ordered came with succulent sweet shrimp. The creamy sauce really enhanced the flavor and texture of the dumplings! The blackberry chocolate chip gelato was lovely as well! It is a really pleasant place to have dinner with friends and family.

Susan W.

Yelp
Excellent evening! From the minute we stepped in the room until we left, we were treated like royalty. The waitress was knowledgeable and very helpful, the wine was perfect, the dinner was delicious and dessert was exceptional! I'll be back! Sooooooo good!

Andy R.

Yelp
Mary is an amazing server. Such a wonderful person to represent this fantastic eatery.

Yelp
Celebrated our Anniversary At Alavita. We started with a glass of Prosecco and a chef selection charcuterie board. The charred bread was delicious. Paired with a Parmesan gelato, braciole, prosciutto, Brie, coffee aioli and peach jam. For our mains, we had the duck mezzaluna (ravioli) and rack of lamb, paired with a Luca Pinot Noir from Argentina. Dessert was limoncello tiramisu and vanilla budino. Everything was perfect. Including the service. I would highly recommend this place.

Anita H.

Yelp
Fabulous fabulous food !! Service is great as well - my new favorite place to eat an Italian meal.

Leona A.

Yelp
Lively atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious house made pasta options. Will be back!

Cristina A.

Yelp
Extraordinary! The food AND service were amazing! Inviting atmosphere with beautiful touches throughout It was all so flavorful and am looking forward to going back to try some more

Kim H.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting this lovely little restaurant in downtown Boise. We were celebrating our anniversary. We had excellent service from start to finish. Some of the other staff even came over to wish us a happy anniversary, which we thought was a nice touch. They food was 5 star. We started with the house made focaccia with the most amazing honey truffle butter. My husband had the rigatoni. Simply delicious. I had the elk osso bucco and saffron risotto. Very flavorful, but the elk was a tad over cooked. We finished with two desserts that were the perfect finish for our celebration. We brought a bottle of our favorite wine to share. They have a $10 corkage fee which they in turn donate to local charities. We really appreciated this. They do have a wonderful selection of in house wines and cocktails. We will definitely return to this gem in the heart of downtown Boise.

Theresa R.

Yelp
Alavita is conveniently located on ID street in downtown Boise. Very modern interior in a historic bank building. Center stage is the bar with tables surrounding. Signature cocktails were excellent. We had an excellent server who explained each dish in detail. My husband and I decided to share so we started with the meatball appetizer.  The meatballs were good size served on sauce with charred bread.  Unlike most restaurants, these meatballs were moist and tender. The texture was slightly gummy from too much bread filler.  The meatballs and sauce flavor fell flat and one dimensional with an overpowering chili oil flavor. We then tried the ahi tuna nicoise salad with cannelleni beans, tomatoes, small potatoes, gem salad and citrus dressing topped with fennel crusted ahi tuna.  The tuna was nicely cooked but the seasoning was very salty and had no fennel flavor. We had to send it back which the Manager kindly took off our bill. We then shared the black ravioli stuffed with shrimp and topped with spicy shrimp and fennel in a cream sauce.  I could tell the ravioli's were handmade but the filling was slightly salty overpowering the shrimp filling. The shrimp on top were tender and spicy but the sauce was not creamy and had a milk like consistency with no citrus or fennel infused flavor. I appreciate good Italian food but the execution was lacking tonight.

Yelp
We walked through Downtown Boise and saw this place. We decided to give it a shot. We sat at the bar and ordered a Woodford Old Fashioned. It was a very good cocktail mixed in front of us. Perfectly mixed and served over a large round ice ball and garnished with a burnt orange peel. Bartender was good and his food recommendations were on point. I had the Pappardelle it was really really good. My friend had the black raviolis and said they were really good as well. It was a small clearly local place with a trendy look inside and an open kitchen with three chefs preparing the meals. Service was good and the food came promptly. Great place.

Edgar R.

Yelp
It was a busy Monday evening a lot of restaurants were super booked & we called Alavita & they were able to accommodate us right away which was awesome! 5 stars for that. Okay let's get to the food this is what we ordered: We started with Grilled Artichoke & calamari recommend this. Then we ordered the fennel & arugula salad which was recommended by our lovely server. Oh man, I couldn't get enough of this salad & I'm normally not a salad type. Order that! Now for the pasta, we got tagliatelle & pappardelle tagliatelle was good with your typical pasta ingredients but the pappardelle and the favors on this dish were amazing! Pappardelle won this battle hands down. Will I come back? Yes, I will. See you soon Alavita

Katherine G.

Yelp
This is probably one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to! We were lucky and got seated without a reservation on a Saturday night, and got a table outside next to the street. They brought out water and complementary bread for us to start, which was really nice. I ordered the scallop entree and my friend got the pappardelle. We also got a side of broccoli, which ended up actually being a massive portion. The scallops were SO good and the dish was absolutely amazing. They sat individually on top of a bulb of caramelized onion, along with potato hash and some nice mushrooms and pure. I tried some of my friends pappardelle and it was also fantastic. All the food was amazing and service was also super friendly. I'd highly recommend coming here, and try to make a reservation if you can!

Kylie W.

Yelp
Oh my god this place is to die for! I love Italian but this was top notch. I loved the charcuterie and how you could pick and choose. Pasta and elk were also amazing! Will 100% be back!

K S.

Yelp
Manager helped us out with a wonderful patio table. Salmon was amazing. Pappardelle was incredible. Rigatoni was also sublime. Felt like we were back in Italy. Will be back again and again

Brianna H.

Yelp
This spot is hands down the best in town. Everytime I come to town I make sure I stop here. The food is fantastic

Yelp
Amazing pasta, delicious lemon cello tiramisu, our waitress was lovely and friendly! Beautiful restaurant with great music and decorHighly recommend.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Incredible! Love this place! Cheesy must-orders would be the Parmesan gelato or burrata! The calamari is to die for. And, their risotto is life changing. Can't go wrong with anything they offer, but those are the favorites! Love the relaxed vibes here, defs make a reservation.

Nick T.

Yelp
Only order the pasta. Alavita is attached to its older sibling, Fork. Very small and intimate. Great for a date night!

Denise G.

Yelp
Went for the first time! My boyfriend & I tried the Brie and loved it!! The pasta we both got was very delicious. Clean environment and our server was so nice!! I would definitely come back again for special occasions

Yelp
Lovely ambiance and food is delicious. The Burrata is fresh, cocktails on point and enjoy the pasta- it's worth the calories.

Yelp
My food was made incorrectly and was not fixed when I explained to the waitress! Not a fan of this kind of service!!

Yelp
Lovely dinner at Alavita on a cold Saturday night in Boise. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and all-around pleasant. We started our meal with artichoke hearts and the best focaccia bread I have ever had--I don't use that description lightly. I ordered the elk osso bucco, which came with a rich demi-glace on top of a saffron-scented risotto, while my wife ordered the market risotto with seared cod. The elk meat was tender and had no gaminess whatsoever. It did lack a bit of salt, and the saffron risotto could have used a touch more as well. But aside from that, I cleaned my plate; it was delicious. The market risotto was an introduction to spring; taking a bite (while my wife wasn't looking, of course) brought memories of picking snap peas off the bush and biting into them in the garden. It was an instant freshness that was fantastic. Still, the focaccia bread alone is something that will bring me back over and over.

Smooth A.

Yelp
I've been to this venue 3 times and each time I am more impressed with the service and the food options. They also do an awesome job with the cocktails they serve up there. Very relaxing setting. I highly recommend them

Alyssa C.

Yelp
10/10. We've been meaning to make a visit ever since we learned they are the sister restaurant of Fork. Loved the ambiance inside and our server was great. We had two glasses of still rosé and burrata to start. Our server offered us more bread to go with the burrata and it came out so warm and with a little olive oil... chef's kiss. For dinner I got the black ravioli with butter shrimp and a glass of Barbara and my bf got parpadelle with a Bees Knees cocktail. We will be back 1000000%

Marissa K.

Yelp
Cannot recommend enough! Great food, wine, atmosphere and service. The pistachio cannoli was fantastic!

Yelp
Love Alavita, one of our go to Boise restaurants. Consistently great food, warm and friendly service and reasonable prices. Charcuterie board is one of the best.

Jason S.

Yelp
Went to Alavita this past weekend with family and was really blown away....this restaurant is located right in the center of downtown Boise. A little heads up the restaurant is a little smaller so reservations are highly recommended. Once inside very quaint and modern. Also this place is owned by the owners of the other very popular restaurant downtown called The Fork. For food everyone had a little something different and everyone loved their food. We started with the chef's charcuterie board and it was served with delicious grilled bread. The nice thing is you can mix and match your options and a true highlight of the experience. I also shared the Alavita Cesar with my wife and their spin on this Cesar salad was outstanding. For dinner I had the short rib gnocchi and all I can say is life changing good complimented by truffles and mushrooms. So delicious! Desert had to have the affogatto which is so basic but soooo good! Basically vanilla ice cream or gelato with espresso. Lastly but was the real stand out was the service truly 5 star. I wish I would've remembered our waitress name but she was outstanding. I read some mixed reviews from people before we went and didn't experience any of the negative comments. Every person from the hostess, bussers and waitress were outstanding. Very good meal and look forward to eating another meal here.

Julie H.

Yelp
What an amazing surprise in Boise!!! We will definitely return from the West coast to dine here!!! We sat at the bar and had such a fun experience with Mary as our mixologist! SHE is a jewel in this industry with her phenomenal customer service and engaging personality! Mary made our experience that much better with her excellent recommendations. Not pictured that another guest gave us a taste of is their parmesan gelato! That is a MUST for an appetizer!! Every thing we ate was perfection!

Allison P.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! We made a reservation in advance after reading positive reviews online. My boyfriend just moved out here for work and this was my first time visiting - the pasta and cocktails were out of this world - you can tell the pasta is so fresh and taste the difference from other Italian restaurants. The atmosphere is intimate yet spacious and even though it was busy it didn't feel overcrowded or loud. Portions were generous but not over the top and our waiter was friendly and helpful with recommendations! We ended the meal with the chocolate mousse tiramisu which was to die for. We will definitely be back! :

J J.

Yelp
Food was not good and the portions were small. Overpriced to top it all off. Will not come back

Lydia M.

Yelp
Never a disappointment. Great, fresh food; fabulous selection of wine and awesome people!

Mikaela M.

Yelp
It was MID. The ambiance and service were the only positive things about this place. When you're paying ~30 dollars for a plate, you expect it to be good. I had the black ravioli and the shrimp was way over cooked and the ravioli pasta itself was hard and too thick. Overpriced and not that great. Go to Olive Garden for the same quality

Clare M.

Yelp
Was glad to see there were at least 3 vegetarian entrees available (all of which sounded delicious). I landed on trying the rissoto which came at the market price of $29 due to the use of saffron in it. It was tasty, however it was very salty. I mentioned that to the two colleagues I was dining with and they said said their dishes (all different) were also quite salty. Maybe it was an off night, but I was surprised that this was consistent in all 3 different dishes.

Fatima T.

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant in Boise, the grilled artichoke is the best appetizer in town! Everything is freshly made, the staff is welcoming, attentive. Perfect date night.

Brian D.

Yelp
Food never ready on time. My kids love tbe food so i keep going but mobile order never ready.
