As a regular visitor to Germany, and a huge fan of German food, I was interested to try German food in London, and I was not disappointed. We tried to book a table a few weeks earlier, but they were fully booked already but they said to try a walk-in, and sure enough we got lucky and got a table for our party of 7 in the bar area on the ground floor. If you book a table, you'll be downstairs in the more 'beer hall' style restaurant, which had a DJ when we were there. No authentic German music, tho, sadly!
Food-wise, I was not disappointed. I had the Schweinehaxe (pork knuckle) which is one of my favourite German meals, and it was superb. They're always huge, and I was thankful that it didn't come with a pile of other veg or fries, just a little red cabbage sauerkraut, or I would never have managed it.
Others had the currywurst, the baron burger and even the vegan bratwurst, all of which everyone really enjoyed.
Prices were perfectly reasonable, especially given the location. And the choice of German beers was superb, with Hacker-Pschorr, Erdinger, Paulaner, HB and others available on tap, including a number of wheat beers.
All in all, they've done a great job here, and it's very authentic. I would definitely go back.
