"Aldo Sohm is cool in a Midtown kind of way. It’s the type of place you can use for a quiet drink with someone wearing a pastel sweater or some penny loafers, and the wine list happens to be exceptional. You can get a glass of something for around $15, or, if your employers don’t really pay attention to your expenses, order a bottle of white burgundy that costs more than most night school classes." - bryan kim
"This isn’t one of those hip natural wine bars found in Paris or downtown Manhattan; this is a classic place to enjoy classic wines in expensive Zalto stems, a place where the entry-level Champagne runs $35. Go for the charcuterie, the crispy duck leg, or the heady merguez sausage in pita. (There’s also express lunch for $17)." - Robert Sietsema
"Sibling to the acclaimed Le Bernardin, sommelier Aldo Sohm’s temple to wine is a grand place for a drink — with 40 pours by the glass and 200 by the bottle — and bites such as charcuterie and cheese, grilled avocado, or braised short ribs. Try and make it for the 9 p.m. hour, when Sohm often parades the room with a magnum (or larger bottle) pouring glasses for a very festive group toast." - Melissa McCart
"Aldo Sohm is admittedly expensive. It is, after all, Le Bernardin's wine bar. But if you’re looking for an upscale place where you can meet up with someone in Midtown, this one is worth checking out—especially if you're a wine nerd who wants to talk to other wine nerds. You’ll feel a little like you’re drinking in the lobby of a corporate office building, but the setting is also oddly relaxed, maybe because of the Keith Haring paintings. You can get solid food here, too, including a charcuterie tower." - will hartman, bryan kim, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah
"Aldo Sohm is the casual wine bar from the people who run Le Bernardin, just across the way. It feels like drinking in the lobby of a really nice condo, and the extremely knowledgeable staff will gladly help you pick a glass or bottle from the impressive wine list. There's also a menu of snacks and small plates like black truffle arancini and tequila-spiked guacamole (which you will definitely not see at Le Bernardin)." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, sonal shah, tiffany yannetta
