I truly love 2 Italian restaurants here in Arizona, this being one of them. My family has been going here for likely close to a decade, and having grown up with some Italian family members, I'm spoiled by homemade recipes.
The bruschetta options are all wonderful, but my favorite is the prosciutto as it is more sweet then savory, with its mascarpone cheese and fig jam. My runner up option is the salsiccia, a warm tomato base sauce with sausage, layered on a mild cheese. I love to enjoy these with the fresh bread with oil and balsamic as we start our meal.
Next up are the pastas! All are great, but I truly appreciate a good gnocchi. These are so soft, just little puffs of potato-y goodness doused in creamy cheesy Alfredo sauce. I like to get a side of meatballs to eat with my gnocchi to still have a protein, but get to experience my favorite pasta. I prefer to mix the meatballs in, creating my own sunrise sauce. My 9 year old nephew ate his share of the meatballs on the side, not combined with his fettuccine Alfredo, which he loved as is.
This meal is very filling, so of course we had to have dessert to go. I love the fruit bomba, which is mango and raspberry sherbet, covered in a white chocolate shell, and glazed with sauce overtop. It is truly a treat! Because it is covered in chocolate, it held up on the car tide and hour in the freezer before I enjoyed it. Next door to the restaurant is a gelato place. My nephew did get a chance to enjoy that tonight, in case you wanted to stay close by for another dessert option.
