Being Italian in a state where only 4% of the population claims Italian ancestry is a challenge for anyone seeking authenticity — simply because most establishments bend and conform to serving a version of Italian cuisine that better suits the people in their vicinity. So let’s dig in. First off — very busy, noisy, dark, and slightly chaotic. So far, none of this resembles an Italian restaurant in Italy — and yes, I know, as I visit annually. Service was okay, but it felt like we had to be extra nice to *earn* good service — when really, it should be the other way around. The food? Pretty good. I just wish the ambiance didn’t give off that “turn the tables fast” feeling. (3 out of 4 at our table were satisfied) As for returning to give it another try — we’re still up in the air on this one. P.S. Disappointed they didn’t have Calabrian peppers — that would’ve been a game changer! Saluti.

Serving up simply home cooked Italian food just like Nonna 👌🏽 It was such a pleasure to have an invite to dinner and be able to catch some behind the scenes. I love filming the action and watching the plates come to life. The sizzle, the toss, the aromas, and passion that goes into cooking and plating @alessiasristorante 🤌🏽 Great customer service, restaurant fills up fast, great wine selection.

We had friends visiting and I’ve been wanting to try Alessia’s, so I made reservations. There’s plenty of parking and it’s wheelchair friendly. It wasn’t crowded when we first arrived, but by the time we left it was pretty busy. The garlic cheesy bread was scrumptious. Our friend got the calamari and he loved it. My husband tried it and thought it was delicious. My husband ordered the salmon and wanted to lick the bowl clean because it was so good. Our friend ordered the seafood pasta and ate it all up. His wife ordered the Amatriciana with linguine pasta (you can choose your own pasta). I ordered the Alfredo with penne pasta and added Italian sausage for an additional charge. I loved that the sausage was ground up and not chunks of sausage or a whole sausage. I had the waitress put a lot of fresh Parmesan cheese on top. Yummy!! For dessert, our friends ordered the cheesecake and chocolate cake. They loved it. Hubby and I ordered the limoncello cream cake and it was divine. My husband tried the cheesecake and said it was delicious. Hubby and I will be going back.

Please call for a reservation or the wait is 1 hour. We tried the Bruschetta, but honestly did not like it at all. Move on. The dinners are quite generous!! A VERY LARGE selection of wine. We went with Peppoli Chianti Classico. Wonderful and fairly priced. My dinner was the Flatbread BBQ Chicken. Yum!! Dessert... Spumoni covered in dark Chocolate. You have to share!

Came for the first time tonight and had a great experience. The food was outstanding and our waitress was very friendly and personable. Wine was excellent as well. Highly recommend the garlic bread!!

Google
I love the atmosphere here. Feels cozy...The staff and management are always nice to my family and I. I'm really loving the caprese salad and gnocchi with garlic cream sauce. The salad has alot of tomatoes, a big generous chunk of fresh mozzarella, lots of basil and very thinly sliced onion... The balsamic is awesome. The garlic cream has that fresh garlic kick. Gnocchis are bar-none.

Google
Definitely a bit more upscale style! Incredibly friendly, and wine "storage" is alongside where you're sitting in the dinning room. Portions large enough to share but don't! You'll want to enjoy your delicious dinner as lunch the next day! Hands down the best tiramisu in the state!! Quietly, tucked in to a little corner in a neighborhood strip mall with a nice patio--when the weather is right! Plenty if parking and reservations are a good idea during tourist season

Google
Alessia's is the Italian restaurant of choice for Mesa! What a fantastic menu, exquisite food, a modern, energetic vibe, and tremendous top-notch service. We spent another Anniversary enjoying this establishment to the highest. Also, with an unexpected treat of music and an operatic voice that brought tears to our eyes (not at all a regular occurrence). You must give Alessia's a visit!

Yelp
Wonderful dinner! We live in Gilbert and have been looking for a good Italian restaurant for so long and finally found it. We got the bruschetta to start with a bottle of wine, I got the fettuccini Alfredo with chicken and my boyfriend got the Chicken Parmesan. We then got an espresso shot after dinner as well as their tiramisu and cannolis. Only $140 for everything which was such a great price for everything we got. Our waitress was awesome and boxed all of our leftovers for us and re-corked our wine bottle so we could take the rest home. The seating was also prefect. We hate restaurants that try to squeeze too many tables in and this place was very spacious and felt very cozy. If you love Italian food you must go!

Yelp
Always a great meal at Alessia's. Service is excellent too. We will be back soon Thank you team Alessia

Yelp
Came here with 6 others for a graduation dinner. For the apps, we ordered bruschetta (half caprese, half pomodoro), calamari, and garlic bread. The caprese bruschetta was amazing but the pomodoro didn't taste like as much, so would just order the caprese for next time. Calamari is not fried but instead sautéed in tomato sauce which was pretty good. Well seasoned. The garlic bread was delicious. Service was good. Kept our bread filled and our heat lamps warm. Gave us some water carafes as well since we were drinking a lot of water. For my main, I ordered the calamari pasta and it was a bit underwhelming. Now I had already eaten a lot of calamari earlier in the evening with the app but the main dish version I ordered tasted pretty bland and the calamari tasted unseasoned. A bit disappointing since the app was great!

Yelp
Evening Yelpers, Located in the same parking lot as Silver Star Theater.Alessia's was a great dinning experience. Reservation made with easy from their website. 5pm arrived a little and was seated right away. Ronnie was our server, explained the special and the menu to give us information to pick an enjoyable entree. The dinners were excellent well seasoned to perfection. Add this to your must try for Italian dining

Yelp
Service was great, food was subpar. Very bland food. Great atmosphere however. If i just wanted wine this would be the perfect place to go and share a bottle.

Yelp
The service was friendly but a little slow for a Thursday evening. We went here for the first time to celebrate my birthday. We are new to this neighborhood and love Italian food. We asked the server to tell us (group of 6) about her favorite dishes, she didn't really know what to recommend. The food was good but not great. It was an overall okay experience.

Yelp
We had a reservation on New Years Eve at Alessias with another couple. WHAT A GREAT CHOICE to have our last 2024 meal at. We were seated on time and our server, Kelly, took good care of us! Our food was delicious and cooked to perfection! I had their scallop linguine special and a gorgonzola salad, along with my friend. Her husband had spaghetti and meatballs and my husband had risotto with grilled chicken. Everyone enjoyed their meal! Also, Jon, the owner, is always friendly and making sure all his guests are having a great experience! We also like to come here for Happy Hour. Both Vic and Caden are very personable and do a good job! We highly recommend Alessias Italian Ristorante and will definitely be going back

Cande K.

Yelp
Food was great. They took time to handle a special request for no garlic of all things. The meal that was prepared was fabulous! A little pricey but worth a special occasion

Yelp
When I made reservations for a Tuesday, it said that no times were available between 4:30 and 6:30. I chose 4:30 and the entire time we were there there were many empty tables, so I'm not sure why that happened. We were sat at a very small 2 top right by the doorway into the dining room, yet there were several open tables in the room that would have been more accommodating. Our server was very professional and pleasant. The bread with herbs, oil, and balsamic vinegar was a great way to begin our dining experience. My wife had the lasagna with Bolognese sauce and she loved it. I ordered the pescatora SUD and it was absolutely delicious. The menu mentioned it was made with spicy tomato sauce, but it was not spicy at all. Not a detractor, just a FYI. I would definitely order it again. Overall, we enjoyed our date night supper and would return.

Yelp
Delicious food, excellent service, great location. Love all the bottles of wine on the walls!

Yelp
Delicious, elegant dining at a fair price. Wine selection is abundant. The mini cream puffs were the classic chefs kiss to a perfect ending.

Yelp
6 stars! Been here twice in the past WEEK. They have an incredible selection of pastas, sauces, and Italian wines. The Sheri's Lasagna is one of their most popular, and that's for a good reason! Portion size of it is generous as well, so divide that cost into two meals and you have a compelling and delicious something to look forward to. First time there we ate and met with friends, everything was excellent, service (our waitress was Monica and she was funny, attentive, and didn't rush us) was great. We all tried different dishes with different pastas and sauces and shared- can't go wrong. I like the ambiance, it's cozy and relaxing - there are two indoor dining areas, a bar that was popular and full when we went, and a patio. We had tiramisu and it was one of the best I've had. The second time we picked up just lasagna to add to our dinner when we had guests over. Looking forward to going back, I'll probably gain 100lbs in 2025.

Yelp
This place is in an unassuming strip mall in East Mesa. What it lacks on the outside it more than makes up inside. Inside it has an upscale feel. The dining room is more formal and the wait staff is very professional. The food is outstanding and they have a large wine menu. I had the lasagna and it was great. It was a little on the spicy side and had lots of red sauce. For dessert I had cannolis. They were incredible. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Great food and service. The specials are always well prepared and the prices are reasonable especially for what is served.

Yelp
Horrible, man my wife and my self do pretty well for our selves and I thought we'd try something new tonight for Valentine's Day and man is this one a memorable one. I got a seafood plate "Mare Seafood" and I can honestly say it was by far the most horrible seafood I've ever encountered. My Calamari was so tough that even after cutting the 2 actual rings in quarters I still couldn't stomach it after chewing on it for 5 mins. I say two because the rest of the dish for the calamari serving was nothing but tentacles. Come on I get it it's still considered "calamari" but you pay an establishment what you pay here and it's that? I could go on and on. The entire dish was so flat and flavorless that I literally used probably a half pound of salt and everything else I had close to help it. The muscles looked great up until the point where I put one in my mouth and you had absolutely again not a single flavor at all which is shocking I'm not a chef by any means but when I do a muscle dish I literally add butter salt garlic pepper and guess what it actually is tasty. Shrimp flat, angel hair blan it doesn't end. Now you get to my wife's order and I guess you could say it wasn't screwed up at all except to the point of bringing out a dish that was entirely the wrong one than what she ordered. Look I'm not a yelp basher by any means my wife and myself along with my family are very known active small business owners in the community. I know how hard it is to run a small business. But I can promise you one thing having the second Largest cattle ranch with in our family if we served raised and sold the quality of beef like the quality of food we received tonight I number one wouldn't have a place of business anymore and number 2 I would have a lot of angry hard working people who use their own hard earned finances on my place of business demanding it back. I don't want the money back and again I'm not here to bash anyone. But if you're gonna require payment for your product please get it up to standards. People work deathly hard for their money and especially in these hard times of economic destruction it needs to be respectable. I see all these awards on your website and respect every bit of it more than anyone, but make a goal of being in those competitions every year even if you're not and let your food reflect from it. Again we will remember this Valentine's Day dinner for a long while. Wish you the best

Yelp
The food was as amazing as the service! It was a really nice date night spot, or even a spot to take the family/get a group of friends together! They really kept that Northern Italian style and it shows. I also really appreciate the fact that the manager shook our hands (my partner and I) prior to us leaving. I love the connection, professionalism, and hospitality. 10/10 !!!!

Yelp
Alessia's has been one of my favorite local Italian eateries for over a decade. The Insalata Gorgonzola is the perfect way to begin the meal, and I love the weekend specials that they change up each week - especially when they have Gorgonzola as I love blue cheese! The desserts are also a nice touch to end the meal. Every time I have visited, the service has been impeccable and I've been comfortable whether we dine inside or outside. Love the ambiance of this quaint Italian eatery, which epic wine bar portion. Last but not least, don't forget to get a glass of wine! They have an amazing selection, and it completes me meal. Lastly, be sure go to their website to add your email to the newsletter. You don't want to miss some of the amazing specials they have!

Yelp
The service was quick, efficient, and friendly. The food was absolutely incredible- each bite was as enticing as the first. The perfect romantic hideaway for date night, or as a place for celebration. We will DEFINITELY be back!

Yelp
First time here. They serve warm homemade bread with a tangy oil and vinegar (mixed with seasonings) and WOW! So goood! We had the crostini la porcini for an appetizer and it was more than enough for two people and ohhhh so bomb/delicious!!!. We shared the Italian salad and it was HUGE! The salad dressing was uniquely delicious! I had the lasagna and the wife had the fettuccine Alfredo. BEST lasagna I've had in a restaurant!!! Pasta melts right in your mouth! Alfredo sauce was very creamy and served steaming hot. Matt was our server and did an amazing job of serving us. Very knowledgeable about the restaurant, its history, menu, and recommendations. Very kind and friendly. Everyone was friendly. I'd give more stars if I could! We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I was in the mood for Italian and I'm new to the neighborhood so I looked for a place with great reviews and found Alyssa's. The ambiance was serene, comforting in many ways although a lot of hard surfaces everyone was dressed in black the tables were black the seating was black. Menu is fairly extensive. I decided to order the carbonara with linguine. It came with a mix of Italian sausage and bacon, a sauce that was too dry too quickly. The spaghetti just a little over al Dante which was fine. I wasn't fond of the taste of the sausage. I wish I had been able to taste more of the sauce but the flavor just wasn't there. What bothered me the most was - that was the most vinegary balsamic vinegar I have ever eaten! With iced tea my bill came to a little over $25. The best thing about this dinner was the service was impeccable!

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The service was excellent, also!!

Emma P.

Yelp
TERRIBLE!!!! Ordered chicken and the waitress didn't tell us the up charge and the chicken ended up being more than the pasta! The food wasn't even that good. Don't waste your time or money here

Brad Totten ..

Yelp
Food and service were both great. I had tortellini with Italian sausage and my wife enjoyed her cioppino. The limoncello cream cake was beyond fantastic. We will go back to sample other menu items.
google avatar

Sharon A.

Yelp
First time and a wonderful experience all around. Great menu selections to choose from. The calamari fresco appetizer and pescatora sud risotto were outstanding! Pleasant dining atmosphere, and our server was spot on! Highly recommend and we'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Jamie R.

Yelp
This place is so good and we can't wait to come back! They serve you with bread, olive oil and balsamic which is great! We got the chicken park and it was great! My boyfriend got the sausage with the garlic cream sauce and WOW. The garlic cream sauce is something I am still drooling over! The waiter was great at explaining everything since it was our first time. We sat outside since the inside was full, so call ahead or make reservations just in case. Otherwise, definitely give this spot a try!

Yelp
Food & service were excellent. A family owned business, they definitely go above and beyond.

Yelp
Our service was great. The waiter was wonderful very knowledgeable and attentive. The wine was good and he was very knowledgeable about that as well. The food as just ok. (As we left my daughter felt the same way saying her food was really garlicky. ) They treated my daughter extra sweetly bc we were celebrating her birthday by giving her a free desert which she gobbled up and said it was good. The cannoli I took home for dessert was excellent. Definitely worth trying again and my daughter agreed.

Yelp
Well this was a first Italian restaurant we went to sine coming back from long Italy vacation. I read some good reviews so I figure I give it a try. Friendly staff and nice and spacious.. I thought it was little bit too dark for my taste. Ordered the antipasti misto to start. It made me chuckle little bit when I saw corn nuts and some other varieties of nuts. Also had some grapes, 3 different cheese, peppercini, olives, and 3 different type of deli meat. Prosciutto was bit dry and tough, salami wasn't bad, and pepperoni was well... It was pepperoni.. Cheese weren't bad and corn nut was actually pretty good. But for $19 appetizer I guess I should have read the menu better... I expected better quality of deli meat and cheese... Ordered mare seafood (red sauce) and Ala Brian for main course. Also ordered ceasar salad which wasn't too bad. The initial smell of my mare seafood made me happy.. Then i took a bite.. First bite I said Hmmm this ain't too bad.. Then i continued to eat it and realized it was not that good. Calamari was tender, mussel were little on the tough side, shrimp was pretty good. As I kept eating it I couldn't tell the off distinguishing flavor I didn't like. Then I looked closer and saw lots of capers.. I mean lots of capers... I don't mind some capers but holy smoke.. There were lots of capers... Never had pasta dish with that much capers. So over all I was not happy with the dish. Then ate some of the alla Brian.. Creamy "homemade sasauge" pasta dish.. Well. Initial taste it wasn't bad.. Then i could taste the sausage flavor which over powered the creamy sauce.. If the sasauge was yummy it would have been pretty good.. The sasauge tasted like over the counter Fry's brand ground sasauge.. I took few bites and just ate the pasta. I had such high hope for this place since it was fairly close to me. $85 for 2 after tip and only water to drink.. Needless to say I would never come back here again.. Im sure they have other dishes that are pretty good. But two I ate were not.. And that antipasti appetizer was very disappointing... Well at least I have some corn nuts to eat for snack later..

Yelp
We chose this restaurant for a birthday celebration. We had a party of eight. They seated us within 15 minutes and it was dinner time so that is a great timeframe. The service was OK a bit slow from my liking. We had to ask a couple different waiters to find our waiter for us to refill our drinks. I wish they were more attentive. We shouldn't have to ask to refill our drinks. The wine I had was delicious, but our food had a little to be desired. I had the spaghetti and meatballs, and the meatballs tasted like they just came out of a frozen bag and kind of chewy and flavorless. I gave my food to my nephew to take home to eat , because I could not eat it I was disappointed had such high review from someone that had came with us, but there were a few of us that were not satisfied with our meals at all. My daughter-in-law had to send back a salad because it didn't have what she asked for it, just a simple as that. So just say the least it was a little disappointing for our gathering. I don't know if I would try it again the restaurant was clean. The bathrooms were clean and most of the staff was awesome.

Christine P.

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance was great! Perfect little spot if you are staying in Mesa. Our waiter even asked us what language we were speaking and came back to say good bye to us in French - very nice touch! Thanks, Ronny!
google avatar

Dan N.

Yelp
Not really that good, especially for price. Very bland. Meat and seafood had old taste to them. Overheard group leaving in parking lot and someone said, "Would've been better to go to Olive Garden". Should've listened to them!

F C.

Yelp
I have been going to Alessia's for years and have been recommending it to anyone who wants Italian food. If have been to the east valley in the past few years, you know good Italian food is hard to come by. I would also like to commend Alessia's for finally doing reservations for parties of two or more. This was a real convenience. Something this past weekend was different about the food and I hope it was a fluke. The meatballs tasted similar to Costco's frozen meatballs and the chicken also did not seem fresh. The alfredo and the bolognese sauces were just as good as ever. The quality of the pasta was also excellent.

Jim

Yelp
Fabulous food. Been coming here for 20 years. Huge wine list, Excellent servers. Italian food at its finest.

Yelp
Alessias. Is my most recommended Italian restaurant Many years ago I was invited by a friend to a wine tasting. I was pleasantly surprised on how wonderful everything was. It's family owned and a gem in mesa !!!

Yelp
I truly love 2 Italian restaurants here in Arizona, this being one of them. My family has been going here for likely close to a decade, and having grown up with some Italian family members, I'm spoiled by homemade recipes. The bruschetta options are all wonderful, but my favorite is the prosciutto as it is more sweet then savory, with its mascarpone cheese and fig jam. My runner up option is the salsiccia, a warm tomato base sauce with sausage, layered on a mild cheese. I love to enjoy these with the fresh bread with oil and balsamic as we start our meal. Next up are the pastas! All are great, but I truly appreciate a good gnocchi. These are so soft, just little puffs of potato-y goodness doused in creamy cheesy Alfredo sauce. I like to get a side of meatballs to eat with my gnocchi to still have a protein, but get to experience my favorite pasta. I prefer to mix the meatballs in, creating my own sunrise sauce. My 9 year old nephew ate his share of the meatballs on the side, not combined with his fettuccine Alfredo, which he loved as is. This meal is very filling, so of course we had to have dessert to go. I love the fruit bomba, which is mango and raspberry sherbet, covered in a white chocolate shell, and glazed with sauce overtop. It is truly a treat! Because it is covered in chocolate, it held up on the car tide and hour in the freezer before I enjoyed it. Next door to the restaurant is a gelato place. My nephew did get a chance to enjoy that tonight, in case you wanted to stay close by for another dessert option.

Yelp
One of the best Mom and Pop restaurants in Mesa. Fresh homemade food, the lasagna is amazing!! Great wine selections and the owner makes you feel very welcome. Great customer service
google avatar

Ruth S.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great ambience . Had the salmon and sat at the bar. Bartender gave us a great recommendation for a Chianti. All their wines are Italian.

Kathryn R.

Yelp
A treasure hidden, yet in plain sight! Great selection of food choices. Wonderful service and environment. Highly recommend!

Leonard S.

Yelp
Pleasant environment. Mussels were Great! Entrees excellent. Generous portions led to boxes to take home (one mix up there but turned into a win). Attentive staff and timing between courses leisurely and relaxed...perfect for savoring each bite.
google avatar

Tina R.

Yelp
The ambience and service was top notch. The location of the restaurant is in a not-so-nice strip mall. The food was very good, however the tomato sauce they make is not as good as my family's sauce.....just sayin' The desserts are very very good!! I would go back just for the desserts. I want to try more!!

Yelp
Alessias has been our favorite place for over 10 years. But John and Sherri will make you feel like you've been friends forever! The staff are incredible and the food is beyond amazing and very authentic. Alessias isn't just a restaurant, it's an experience!
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
This was my second time there and just like the first it was quality Italian food and the service is unmatched. There are tons of regulars I noticed both times based on over hearing conversations but they make you feel as of you are family even if it's your first time. I am Italian so I grew up eating great food, nothing beats grandma's or mom's, but this restaurant will make you feel like you're eating home cooked Italian with fresh ingredients. We have had 4 different dishes from them and each one has been delicious. I also want to make mention that Monikah was our server and she was so friendly and knowledgeable about wine recommendations to pair with food and gave some of her favorites to try too! We will definitely be making this a regular place when we go out and especially choose this over other Italian restaurants. Clean, friendly, and delicious food, what else could you possibly need
google avatar

Eily C.

Yelp
WOW! This place is in east Mesa? How lucky are we!!! The pasta and sauces are all handmade. The flavors are rich and decadent. The ambiance is like a little Italian villa. Absolutely perfect for a date night. The wine selection is out of this world. The staff is very knowledgeable about the wines and how they compliment different dishes. They also have amazing specials. Go with what ever is their daily special and you can't go wrong. The desserts are classic Italian pastries and cakes. Try the cannoli - thank me later. This place is now on my list of go-to places when I have out of town guests. I am tortellini in love with Alessia's!
google avatar

Dan B.

Yelp
Great food and wine. The servers are helpful with the menu and have great attitudes. The owner even comes out to greet guests and make us feel welcome.

Azam A.

Yelp
First time here so far pretty impressed. bruschetta was amazing. Update to follow after dinner After Dinner Update Loved this place amazing food, I had risotto with mussels, clams, shrimps and calamari and it awesome. My wife had pasta with rosemary and chicken another big winner. The tiramisu was so light and fluffy with tons of coco powder. A great hidden gem in the east valley. Ambiance is cozy and inviting and service was amazing.

John J.

Yelp
Service was good, food was good, really liked the bread, family owned which I liked, $70 for 2 with 1 drink each

Karen M.

Yelp
There were 7 in our party. We all enjoyed our meals. Service was great. We will be back.

Yelp
First time checking this place out, small restaurant but the food and service were amazing. All the pasta sauce is made from scratch for each order, and my husband and I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great authentic cuisine & a lovely genuine serving staff. Always an enjoyable experience. A neighborhood favorite!
