Wine is fine, but friends don't let friends eat dinner at Alisa - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Alisa Wine & Friends is a cute beige-toned Greek restaurant on Abbot Kinney where you can drink wine. With your friends. It’s not somewhere we’d send anyone for a meal, though, because the food is underseasoned and underwhelming (also, dinner here gets pricey, quickly). Here’s what we do like: the extensive Greek-focused wine list. It’s fun to explore, and the charming servers have strong opinions on their favorite bottles. Get a snack or two if you're starving, a bottle of chilled red to fuel the chit-chat, and, most importantly, dinner reservations elsewhere. Food Rundown Spanikopita These spinach-filled phyllo triangles are forgettable, but we’re into the runny garlic sauce sitting underneath. photo credit: Sylvio Martins Roasted Potatoes The menu says these bland baby potatoes are roasted in beef fat, which is news to us. We’d guess they were boiled in water that was in dire need of salt. Beef and Lamb Meatballs The tart tomato and yogurt sauce is almost tasty enough to mask how dry the meatballs are. Almost. photo credit: Sylvio Martins Eggplant Dip Someone turned the “smoky grilled eggplant flavor” dial on this babaganoush down to 40%. It’s fine. photo credit: Sylvio Martins Carabineros These fancy Spanish prawns are a sought-after ingredient, and at $30 for two, you’d expect them to be treated right. These arrived lukewarm and missing salt. photo credit: Sylvio Martins Chicken Skewer The best dish here by far. The chicken is grilled to peak juiciness, with a nice amount of char on all sides. photo credit: Sylvio Martins" - Sylvio Martins

3 Restaurants to Try This Weekend in Los Angeles: May 2 | Eater LA

"A newish Greek restaurant on Abbot Kinney in the former Plant Food and Wine, this spot offers a breezy destination for friend reunions and intimate date nights. The interior, bathed in creams and whites with sapphire blue accents, evokes the whitewashed lime plaster finish of hillside homes in the Greek Islands. The menu includes a heaping Greek salad with a blocky feta centerpiece (ask for the burnt tomato jam on the side); tinned fish, spanakopita, tzatziki, and flatbreads; grilled fish — an herb-butter-rubbed branzino pocked with fried garlic chips; beef and lamb keftedes; and beef-fat-drenched roasted potatoes. The wine list is plentiful and the servers keep it flowing. If and when the sizable back patio reopens, this will probably be the It spot on the block all summer. — Nicole Adlman, cities manager" - Eater Staff

LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"It’s unclear if you need to bring your own friends, but this white-walled Greek spot on Abbot Kinney will definitely supply the wine. The interior looks like a stylish summer home on Santorini that’s decorated with tiny ceramic vases, seashells, and rows of wine bottles, and the short food menu includes traditional-leaning dishes like spanakopita, monkfish orzo, and lamb chops." - cathy park

The Best Restaurants in Venice, California, According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"This fairly new spot on Abbot Kinney is serving fresh Greek fare and great wines to locals who are delighted to have a new kid (restaurant) in town. Taking over the former Plant Food and Wine in Venice, Alisa doesn’t miss a beat with dishes like herby grilled branzino, stone fruit salads, juicy whole prawns, and flatbreads and dips (try the baba ghanoush). With an airy, cream-colored interior, large back patio, and decent playlist, this newcomer should be here to stay." - Matthew Kang

Beautiful restaurant with a cozy, stylish interior. We were surprised to wait almost 10 minutes to be seated, especially since the place wasn’t busy at all. That said, once we were in, the experience turned around quickly. Our server was amazing. Super friendly, attentive, and even offered a small wine tasting to help us choose. Big thumbs up for that! The food was excellent. Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared. The wagyu skewer, while delicious, leaned a little on the beefy side for my taste, but that's more of a personal preference than a flaw. Everything else we tried was spot on. Only downside: it got really loud inside, which made conversation hard at times. But still, with great service and delicious food, I'd definitely come back.

Absolutely loved our experience at Alisa Wine and Friends! We tried a variety of dishes from the menu — every seafood item was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the meat was so tender it literally melted in our mouths. The wine selection was outstanding, and our server was super knowledgeable, helping us pick the perfect wine based on our personal preferences. And the frozen yogurt dessert? Unreal. Light, creamy, and full of flavor — the perfect sweet ending to an amazing meal. The service, food, and atmosphere were all 10 out of 10. Can’t recommend this place enough — a true gem in LA!

Food was amazing! If I’m being honest, I had the bar set a little low because photos I’d seen online didn’t look great (even though the reviews were good!). Enjoyed everything we tried. They also have an excellent wine list. Highlights were the dips, meatballs, and Greek yogurt dessert. Super cute spot atmosphere wise. If you’re able to, get a table on the patio. Didn’t see any bar seats so this is definitely more of a sit-down table experience.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff was incredibly attentive without being intrusive, and every detail — from the seating to the timing of the dishes — was perfectly orchestrated. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. But what truly made the evening special was the exceptional service. The team went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and happy throughout our visit. It felt like they truly cared about creating a memorable experience for each guest. We’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for not just great food, but also a top-tier service experience!

WOW, what an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in, everything felt just right: the warm greeting, beautiful interior, and outstanding food. As a European, I’ve often found LA food to be — dare I say it — overhyped and, more often than not, a bit of a letdown. Style over substance. But here, everything was the opposite. Every dish was beautifully prepared, full of depth, and unmistakably authentic. It instantly brought me back to my vacations in Greece. Not just in taste, but in feeling too. The atmosphere, the thoughtfulness behind every dish, and the kindness of the team made it all feel special. We’re already planning our next visit and would recommend Alisa Wine & Friends without hesitation!

From the moment you step in, this restaurant enchants you with its warm, Mediterranean ambiance and soul-soothing design. Every corner feels curated with love — from the gentle candlelight and textured walls to the elegant niches filled with delicate sculptures. The attention to detail is breathtaking. The food? Absolutely divine. Flavorful, and beautifully presented — every dish felt like a work of art. It’s a celebration of simplicity, quality ingredients, and masterful execution. Dining here feels like stepping into a dream — intimate, soulful, and rich in beauty. A place where every sense is indulged. Highly recommended for those who crave not just a meal, but an experience.

I like the Greek aesthetic beauty, which is the reason I came. I was set at a table that I can only see the wall in the patio. It really just turned me down a little. So if you go, try to sit in the middle of the patio if possible. However I understood that the beautiful host wanted to give me a table in the sun, and I do love sunlight in a cozy afternoon to get some Vitamin D. Some other tables are in the shade. Some are bigger tables. This restaurant also reminded me of Amour Weho. It looked wonderful on social media. Maybe the food don’t speak to me, or the cocktails are too simple to choose. I really did not like my cocktail. There are so many restaurants in LA serving great cocktails. But not here. The food was plain, it just did not get any joy for my tastebud. Maybe I don’t have a Greek stomach. I knew a lot people like me saw the posts— several plates on the tables looking so cute, and elegant. It is actually not delicious to me at all. I don’t have a hate to the owner after all this is a new restaurant. But the worst worst part is the back ground music. All those old like my gramma’s age American music in such a place really really made me want to leave immediately. I was like what the hell? Not saying it has to be a k-pop music, but some trendy music, at least helps to build the vibe based on this atmosphere. I had a huge disappointment, and I also felt cheated by people who did those beautiful posts, but did not expressed anything real. We are fools for social media? Or the cheaters are smart to fool? My opinions are not right for everyone. It was just how I felt. It might be a great place for people who posted, and really loved it. Just not for me. Indoor design is artistic as well, not interesting to me at all. Walking on Abbot Kinney Street is more enjoyable, and there are so many better restaurants on this street.

The dips were great ($9–12 each), but pita wasn’t included, so +$8 per each pita piece felt overpriced. My scallops were large but arrived cold. Our table was cleared without offering dessert (I still regret I didn’t order), and a few orders were mixed up. But to be fair, the staff resolved all issues quickly and with a warm attitude and the hospitality was definitely felt. The outdoor seating had smoky smell from the kitchen a few times. We also paid an extra 4.7% reservation fee for a group of 6, which seems common. Beautiful interior, but overall, the food and prices didn’t quite match. UPDATED: Rebalanced my stars after their reply to my comment. I told you, their attitude is genuinely warm and hospitable! Initially, I saw only glowing comments that felt curated. But to be honest, now I returned to my review and edited the stars.

Yelp
so excited that something fun has opened in this space. Went on a Thursday night, it was crowded and lively in a great way. Had excellent Greek wine, delicious Greek salad, the flatbread was lovely with the dips that we chose, and the Branzino was beautiful and flavorful. would absolutely go again. Francis took care of us and was fabulous.

Yelp
only been open for 2 days and I'm so happy we found this place. We love Greek food and are picky for authentic restaurants. It didn't disappoint. We had the Greek salad, spanakopita, eggplant dip, flatbread, monk fish orzo, and chicken skewers. Everything was full of flavor and really tasty. I personally am not a fan of monk fish in general, so my husband mostly had that, but I still tried it and it was perfectly cooked and sooo flavorful. They have delicious shareables and starters that are tapas style. The mains include a vegetarian dish, the monk fish orzo, and then two pricier and larger meals (lamb chops and steak for two) so I will say I think you either stick to a bunch of shareables OR the heavy mains. Would like to see more mains added just to try more of their food, but even if not we still loved it. Bringing my in laws next weekend. The staff was great, we met the owner as well and he was lovely. Will be back!

Yelp
The food was delicious! The ambience was nice and the vibe was welcoming and professional. It was expensive for the portions though. I wish it was a little more accessible.
