Italian-American destination for artisanal pizzas, antipasti & wine in a buzzy, rustic-modern space.
"The Navy Yard outpost of chef Mike Friedman serves deck-oven style pies like the Buona, Sedgewick, and Salsiccia. Other waterfront dishes to enjoy include spring pea bruschetta, Jersey-style eggplant Parm, and garlic bread sticks made with homemade olive oil focaccia. Order pickup or delivery online, or wolf down a pizza on the patio or its rooftop." - Tierney Plumb, Emily Venezky
"Tuesday isn’t just for political elections at All Purpose. On November 5, three of the restaurant’s most popular pizzas will go head-to-head for an Election Night special. Cast a vote for either the Standard (featuring Bianco di Napoli tomatoes, mozzarella, grana Padano), the Buona (with tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni, Calabrian chili honey, fresh basil), or the Sedgwick (whipped ricotta, mozzarella, taleggio, parmesan, black truffle honey) when you order any of the three for takeout from the three outposts in Shaw, Capitol Riverfront, and Bethesda, Maryland (AP Pizza Shop). Those who order the winning pizza will receive a ticket to redeem a complimentary drink on their next visit. To enter, takeout orders must be placed directly online." - Kalina Newman
"“I know what I look for in a pizza: a crust that is thin but chewy and has a little bit of salt. I want to want the crust at the end. All Purpose is where we get our pizzas. There’s one with a little bit of honey and ‘nduja and giardiniera, the Duke #7. And other than the marinara pie, we also get the Vespa, the one with porcini crema. It’s a white pizza with mozzarella, roasted leeks, and wild mushrooms. They have great salads, like their Caesar. It’s butter lettuce—big chunks of it. Their meatballs are good. They also do mozzarella sticks, but it’s really more like Texas toast-like mozzarella sticks. We usually go by and pick it up because we wanna take it home.”" - brennan carley
"If you're not particularly fussy about the quality of your pizza, All Purpose Pizzeria is one of the best ways to watch the sunset in DC. The Navy Yard restaurant is a few steps away from Nationals Park and if you stick with the basics like the buona pizza made with tomato, mozzarella and basil, you'll be nearly as satisfied with your dinner. Grab a seat at the outdoor patio or the rooftop tables overlooking the Anacostia River and trick yourself into believing you're somewhere where you can actually swim in the water." - tristiana hinton, omnia saed
"The Deal: $19 for bottomless drinks with the purchase of one brunch specialty item or pizza Few things are better than the combination of pizza and bellinis, and All Purpose Pizzeria in Navy Yard is a great place to test this theory. Sit on the patio or rooftop overlooking the Anacostia River year-round (they both have heat lamps) and toast to the good life. With an endless stream of Aperol spritzes and grapefruit mimosas, you might even convince yourself that this is some of the best pizza you’ve ever had (it’s not, but for $50, anything is possible).
