Very nice restaurant. Farm to table. The tacos were very flavorful. I really enjoyed the nonalcoholic drink menu. I liked the soda shop fizz it was sweet and refreshing. The staff were very friendly and the food came out very quickly. Definitely will eat here again in the future.

I was really excited to try Allegory after hearing so many great things and reading all the hype on the review. The place itself is very cute, and I appreciate that they use fresh ingredients straight from the farm—that’s something I always support. I ordered the Dad Bob burger with fries. It did taste fresh and somewhat healthy, but to be honest, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The flavor wasn’t as satisfying as other burger spots I’ve tried, and the presentation was a bit messy—not really my style. One thing I did enjoy was the cocktail I ordered—it was well made and had a great balance of flavor. Unfortunately, what really ruined the experience for me was the service. My server was not attentive at all. I waited over fifteen minutes after I was clearly done eating, and no one came to check on me. I had to flag down another staff member just to get my check from my server, and even then, it took a while for my server to finally check on my table. I couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable, especially since I noticed the server was checking on all the other (white) customers around me but seemed to completely ignore my table. I truly hope it wasn’t racially motivated, but the difference in service was hard to ignore. All in all, while the concept is nice and the drink was good, I personally wouldn’t return. The experience just didn’t live up to the reviews or what I had hoped for.

Allegory is a cute, cozy, farm to table Cajun restaurant in the heart of downtown Naperville. I walk past it often and always think “I’d like to eat there some day” and I’m glad I did today! Our server, Adam, was super knowledgeable about the menu and super kind as well! I enjoyed the shrimp & grits which was delicious!! I’ve never had grits before but I hope they always taste like that ^_^ I also had the sugar plum sour which was as delicious as it was beautiful. Perfect flavors, not too strong, but definitely had me feeling some type of way. My friend had the mac and cheese with grilled chicken along with a cider, and really enjoyed both of them.

Google
Had a great lunch here. The quality of the food, combined with the service by our waiter Adam and the ambience was unmatched. I got the sugar plum cocktail which tasted fantastic. My brother had the quiche and said it was one of the best he’s ever had. I got the chicken sandwich, which had a little too much peanut sauce for my taste, but that’s more of a personal preference. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the key lime cheesecake.

Google
Best food Ive had in awhile . Cocktails were AMAZING! Atmosphere was AWESOME!! I highly recommend!! Farm to Table .. So fresh! Great experience

Google
A quick lunch was $43 for two people drinking just water. One person seated us, one person asked what we wanted to order, another person brought the food to the table. Minimal interaction. I had no idea who was getting the tip by the end of the meal. The environment was very "hipster".

Alo Aguirre

Google
Had the Dad Bod burger (medium cooked) with the Skillet Potatoes and some Electra, Moscato. The burger was very good just a bit on the sweet tangy side with the sauce which I wasn’t a huge fan of but overall good. I do not recommend the skillet potatoes because of how much oil was on them but that may just be the style. I would come back to try other stuff!

Just in town for the day. I was looking for a restaurant for lunch that was locally owned. I stopped in an was pleasantly surprised by the esthetic of the restaurant; beautiful lighting, original hardwood floors, cozy tables. I was greeted by my waiter, Dan, who instantly won me over with his warm welcome and engaging manner. At his recommendation I ordered the cheeses and Mac with blackened shrimp. I was not disappointed. In one word.... Incredible! I highly recommend this local restaurant and its cozy food experience.

Yelp
Stopped in and sat down for what ended up being a rushed lunch (no fault of the staff or the restaurant - we just misjudged our time). The restaurant was short staffed that day with two servers covering all the tables, and they did an outstanding job. Because we were short on time, we asked for everything to come out at once - we started with the Kiss my Grits small plate - which were honestly some of the best blackened shrimp and grits I've ever had. Delicious seasoning, moist and snappy shrimp, and outstanding cheesy grits. This was followed by Phill E steak sandwich which was equally tasty. Overflowing with tender steak and cheese and house picked Giardiniera, it was an elevated cheesesteak. All of this was accompanied by a Thyme Will Tell cocktail - a bright and refreshing mix that was perfect for the season. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit, and look forward to another.

Yelp
It has the potential to be a great place, however on our visit it fell short in many ways. Parking is along the street and can be hard to find, I don't hold that against them, just letting people know what parking is like. The restaurant itself is rather dark and tight together. There were 4 of us and we were seated at a 4 top table and one chair was a high chair so we traded it for a regular chair from another chair. We sat quite a while before our drink order was taken so we were ready to place our order by time he came to take our order. Some drinks were delivered in a timely manner however the server needed reminded when he brought the food out he had yet to bring one person's drink. The drinks were ok. However, I do not recommend a Moscow Mule as it was not made correctly at all. The Reuben was ok. The server said it was made with a unique sauce however it was just a basic sauce and the sandwich and fries were room temp. The salad tasted good until near the bottom of the salad there was a long black hair mixed in. Our server was not efficient in any way. We had to ask him for our bill then after waiting and waiting we had to ask him to take it. There are too many nice places with great service to go here.

Yelp
I've wanted to try Allegory for awhile, and I'm glad I finally got to go because it was a fun and tasty experience. The ambience felt very intimate, and it's definitely a nice spot for date night. It was pretty packed, but we didn't have to wait too long for a table. I got a tuna melt and fries, and it was a decent elevated version of a traditional tuna melt. The portions were also good. I would come back to try their other menu items as it's a great option for a nicer evening out.

Meaghan B.

Yelp
I walked by this place a few times and it looked very intriguing. It had a great vibe, moody romantic lighting, and amazing food. Our waitress gave amazing food recommendations and was very attentive. Will definitely be going back!

Dawn R.

Yelp
My waiter, Dan, was engaging and had recommendations for me. He was well spoken and polite. The food was outstanding. I had the small plate Mac and cheese with blackened shrimp. It was divine and filling.

Klaudia B.

Yelp
This restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by cozy, inviting decor that sets the perfect ambiance for a memorable experience. The food is simply outstanding. The chef's charcuterie board is a masterpiece--each item is thoughtfully selected and bursting with flavor. And the quiche? It's one of the best I've ever had. Light, fluffy, and packed with delicious ingredients, it's a dish that I'll be dreaming about for a long time. Whether you're looking for a cozy spot for a casual meal or a special place to enjoy a thoughtfully crafted dish, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite and drink before going to a cooking class next door so sat at the bar. Nice ambiance and not too busy as we got there at 5 pm on a Saturday. Enjoyed the food and drinks and bartender was attentive.

Julia B.

Yelp
Hello Allegory! WOW! This is my first five star review in a WHILE! Everything about this place is exceptional! The moment you walk in you are surrounded by a warm ambience and friendly staff. The decor perfectly compliments the "farm-to-table" style! We had reservations for a party of 8 and sat at two four tops. We were taken care of by the WONDERFUL Lucy! She was accommodating, friendly, and overall wonderful to chat with! Choosing from the menu was so hard because EVERYTHING looks delicious! We started with their house charcuterie and devoured the entire setting! Don't be afraid to try new things- everything that Allegory has to offer is DELICIOUS! For my main course, I had the pork sliders ("Belly Slide") and truffle fries ("Fries A-La Truffle"). I will absolutely be returning to Allegory, as there is a LOT I want to try. (Note: My sister got the Chicken and Waffles and they looked INSANELY GOOD!) Thanks for everything, Allegory! And a big thank you to Lucy for making our night so awesome!

Meghan B.

Yelp
Our friends invited us to this chef owned, farm to table restaurant!, right in downtown Naperville! It was a very hip looking restaurant. The food was exceptional! With my beef and pork allergy they walked me through a variety of options and offered to cook me anything in a pan or a separate area! I was most impressed with presentation of the Here Chickee, Chickee. Not pictured, but we also had Kiss My Grits with blackened shrimp which was excellent! Fresh wonderful food, great atmosphere and great location! Full 5 stars from me!

Yelp
I've been to Allegory twice so far. Each time was an experience to remember. My visit was a few years ago with my husband for a date night. Most recently, we took some friends visiting from out of town for an impromptu dinner. Lucky for us, it was early on a Sunday, about 05:30 PM, and we were able to walk in and get a table for 4 without a reservation. (I did call beforehand to ask about availability and our chances of being seated if we walked in. I'd recommend always calling if you're planning to do walk-in.) For our group of four, we shared two appetizers, each got a drink, and a main dish. We had a fabulous meal and I love that Allegory is chef-owned. Their farm-to-table dishes are so fresh and there will be seasonal items available that change from time to time. We came on Cinco de Mayo, so there were some specials printed on a mini menu in additional to their regular items. What I ordered: La Violetta (cocktail) Chicken Som (Thai-inspired fried chicken sandwich that came with fries) My husband ordered the Chilaquiles and a side of fries. Our table shared the cheese board ("Chef's Never Bored, Board") and mussels ("Oooh! Nice Mussels!"). Ask for extra bread with the mussels, you will need it to mop up all the white wine juices, and it will come piping hot and soft from the oven. Our server was super nice and was able to accommodate a tree nut allergy when we ordered the cheese board, so the candied pecans were served in a separate little ramekin. If our friends did not have a flight to catch right after dinner, we no doubt would've ordered dessert. The food here is phenomenal and as I'm slowly beginning to explore all Naperville has to offer, this restaurant is already an instant, darling favorite. Allegory is such a gem to have in downtown Naperville! Five shining stars all around for food, service, and ambiance.

Kari B.

Yelp
Love the vibe of this place. Drink menu looked great but didn't partake this time. Chilaquiles was my choice, Loved the flavors. The Al pastor tacos also looked great! Large portions. Yummy!

Annie K.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and it was amazing! We had a reservation and didn't have to wait at all for our table when we got there even though they were exceptionally busy. We ordered the steak and the fried chicken sandwich. They were so flavorful and you Cna tell the ingredients were very fresh. Overall it was an Amazing experience and we will definitely be back again

Katie N.

Yelp
My review is solely based on my experience at the bar. Bartenders were excellent! It was a busy weekend, and they were friendly and keeping up with the crowds. I had an amaretto stone sour and a Moscow mule and both were excellent. Their glass wear was fun and vintage. Drinks are a little pricey, but you are definitely paying for the experience.

Yasmeen E.

Yelp
Food: we decided to try this place solely for the mac and cheese since we have heard good things from other people. We ordered the mac and cheese, dad bod burger, and Philly cheesesteak. All dishes were great, especially the mac and cheese. But the portions are sooo big. For two people, we could have done without one of the dishes. Even the mac and cheese, which is an appetizer, can be a meal. We also got the raspberry mint mocktail which I was so happy to see because I think more restaurants should offer mocktails! It was super good! The server was great, attentive, and friendly. And then ambience was nice, felt cozy, but slightly crowded.

Shin M.

Yelp
Plenty of seating inside. I heard they have big portions in general. I got the prime rib sandwich ($19). It was a very large portion. Fries were delicious. I thought the sandwich itself was okay. But I also ate it with a fork and knife because I had no idea how to eat it without it being a messy disaster as a sandwich. It might have been better if I ate it as a whole sandwich and while it was still hot (it was luke warm by the time I finished eating the fries). Maybe when I air fry heat my leftovers, I will change my mind and say it was really good. Will update later! My friend got the scallop dish ($36)- portion looked average, mostly rissotto with 4 scallops but he enjoyed it.

Ryan J.

Yelp
Straight to the point, I ordered an Amaretto Stine Sour and a Honey Bee. The Sour was delicious 5/5. Extremely delicious, probably the best I've ever had. The Honey Bee was a new drink I've never had that I saw on Google: white rum, honey, lemon juice, and water. The bartender nailed it! The atmosphere is classy, clean, and not overly noisy. We walked by and decided to come in. Although they do take reservations, we found seats at the bar. Highly recommend.

Leslie S.

Yelp
Always a great time at the Allegory! Cute hole in the wall burger place with vegetarian options. I was lucky enough to be serviced by Dan recently, who is always a delight to see and provides great service! :-)

Dennis W.

Yelp
I tried a couple menu items here and everything tastes fresh which is nice. The drinks are ok but on the pricier side. Quality- the burger I got was supposed to be medium rare but came out almost blue. It was definitely not cooked right so I had to eat around the blue parts. The fries were good and I didn't get a new burger because the waitress was too busy. Quantity- generous portions. Big burger and lots of fries. Atmosphere- very packed even on weekdays. Long wait and bar is all full. Service- very slow

Dan S.

Yelp
One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had...and I have been going to restaurants for over fifty years. I know something about restaurants. I am a partner in two of them where I live (Bay Area, California). Recently, I was in the Chicago area for an event. A local resident recommended Allegory. Nine of us went there for dinner. We placed our orders. I ordered a chicken sandwich and French fries (an $18 meal). About twenty minutes later, eight dinners were served. All except mine. I was told mine was "on the way." Five minutes went by...then ten...then fifteen. Everyone was asking why I had not ordered dinner. After fifteen minutes, I asked to speak to the manager. She was very apologetic, and told me she would find out what happened and get my dinner ASAP. She promised I would not be charged, that the full cost of the meal would be comped. Five more minutes...ten more minutes. Everyone else is finishing their meals. They bring me my meal. It is packed in a to go box, as everyone is getting ready to leave. I have an hour drive to where I am staying. I will have a soggy, cold chicken sandwich and French fries. I'm not happy. But they again tell me I will not be charged anything; my meal will be free. We get the bill. Everyone is now running late. I start to look at the bill, but there is no time. Everyone needs to be elsewhere, and soon. When I have a chance to look at the bill, I am stunned. My chicken sandwich has been divided into two parts. There is ".75 Yum Yum chicken " at $13.50 and "1/4 Yum Yum chicken" at $4.50. The $4.50 was then comped. Not the $13.50. With the automatically applied tax and tip, I am charged $18 for my soggy, cold "free" meal. I am angry, but it is too late. As we are walking to the car, I show the bill to a friend of mine. He notices that he was charged for two beers. He only had one. Another $12 charge in the restaurant's favor. The total bill was over $400. I have no idea how much was legitimate.

Linda J.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! The chicken and waffles, and Reuben were DELICIOUS!! Dan made a great Paloma and fantastic recommendations.

Joshua D.

Yelp
The food and service were good, but the environment was really loud and hard to have a conversation.

Carrie F.

Yelp
We went there for mother's day! We liked this restaurant a lot. The food was awesome the atmosphere was just ok. Great food though! would definately go there again

Michael R.

Yelp
Allegory is consistently good, farm to table food, with a solid drink menu and good service. The most recent visit was a food highlight with 3 dishes shining: 1. 14 oz. Ribeye with green beans, pancetta and honey. 2. Phill (E) Cheesesteak was excellent-every ingredient was tasty and the right amount of hearty/savory with some spice in the form of giardinera. 3. Never bored cheese, meat, etc. board-a charcuterie all star lineup that was a bit light on cheeses but still enjoyable.

Jason P.

Yelp
Speakeasy I stopped in for some drinks. I don't remember if I ordered food or appetizers, but I do remember getting drinks at the bar. One of those kind of nights. Sitting at the bar felt cool. It feels a bit like a speakeasy. The bartenders here are really good at whipping up concoctions that require a higher level of bartending. They have a lot of good ingredients and they hand craft every drink individually. The drinks were really good and I'm sure the food is too.

Betsy N.

Yelp
It is always a little hard to park in Naperville but I found a spot a few blocks away. Of course, I had chosen a busy time of day on a Friday night, so partly my fault. We secured a table right away, which was awesome! The server was great! Ordered a beer and the keg just ran out, but tbey got a new keg right away. It was Friday and fish fry night. Honestly, the fish was delicious! It came with yummy brussel sprouts.

Marissa F.

Yelp
I have been waiting to go to chef-owned Allegory in Naperville for years. They are a scratch kitchen. We finally made it yesterday for a delicious late lunch. They had funky decor, vibrant staff, and incredible food. I can not say enough about the great vibe this place offers. We can't wait to go back. Mismatched places, pleasant lighting, incredible eats. Please take special note of "Boaris" dressed in some fine St Patrick's Day duds. Drinks: Cranberry hibiscus fizz mocktail and a gin-based seasonal cocktail called Lucky Charms (both refreshing, and we plan to recreate the fizz.) Starter: Belly Slide Braised Pork Belly Sliders (2). Sticky-Soy Glaze. Nori-Apple-Cabbage Slaw. Siracha-Crack Sauce. (Delicious, sticky, drippy, and tender. I miss them.) Mains: Here Chickee, Chickee Fried Amish Buttermilk Chicken Thighs. Griddled-Cake with convenient syrup holders (alright, fine, it's a waffle). Maple-Bourbon-Brown Butter. Hickory Bacon. (Fantastic chicken, that's some of the best we've ever had. Bonus - it came with a veritable mountain of bacon.) Fishy, Fishy My homage to a Wisconsin Fish Fry. And not just on Fridays. But waaaaaay better. (Sorry, Sconnies) Creamy Slaw & Tartar, of course. Lemon. Brussels. Fries. (I am literally eating the leftovers for breakfast, and I'm thrilled.)

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Shrimp and grits I have been craving and Allegory has been on my list for awhile now. I finally made the trip in there and it was so worth it! Absolutely the best shrimp and grits I've ever had!

Paige M.

Yelp
Amazing farm to table restaurant with generous portions. They use fresh ingredients and don't slack when it comes to presentation. Serving staff is always friendly and helpful, making your decision from the wide varietied menu easy. The short rib and scallops are by far my favorite and the atmosphere is dark and romantic. Thai is my favorite restaurant in Naperville by a landslide.

Charles W.

Yelp
I usually go into "American" style restaurants that also serve cuisine fusion style food with low expectations since I haven't had too many places that really impressed me. Allegory, however, was a surprising hit of the California "farm-to-table" movement serving great food. Besides the hilarious dish names, there are just so many options and proteins that you'll find something for everyone. * Belly Slide: 7/10 - very fatty pork meshed with Asian flavors makes this a surprise hit, though the sauce is a little too sweet * Chef's Never Bored Board: 9/10 - surprise hit with our table, has a wide variety of fresh, sweet, and savory goods * The Not So Short, Short Rib: 6/10 - the meat was falling off the bone, but the sauce was just a tad too salty for me

Travis L.

Yelp
This place is great. Yes you should go here. We went on. Friday evening and it was only a 15 minute wait for 2 people. Service is friendly. It has a classy casual feel. We shared the four items ordered : pork belly sliders, Apropos salad, Fish Fry, and cheesecake. All of the food ordered was fabulous but to me the The pork belly sliders were in a league of their own! I can't stop thinking about them. Such a bold and powerful flavor, with just the right amount of spice. The pork was tender. I would go just for those. The apropos salad was also great, I do wish it had more apricot in it. One of the best fish fry I have. It was not heavy and greasy, it was light and crispy. The cod was tender and juicy, excellent flavor and cooked to perfection. Cheesecake is always a good option. This was served in a dish, and not a slice of cheesecake, it was lighter like a mousse or a pudding. The graham cracker crust was good but I could have used for of it. Fantastic place, I highly recommend.

Rosinah D.

Yelp
I had such a horrible experience here tonight. I've been here a few times and actually love the food but today I was treated so poorly by a manger called April who spent the entire time arguing with me instead of rectifying the matter she sat there arguing with me and basically telling me she doesn't care! If customers get the wrong food the issue needs to be fixed not sitting there telling the customer how expensive food is and how they hate throwing food away. So disappointed! I was embarrassed to say the least! She went as far to tell me the one plate she had in her hands was too heavy and she needed to get back to the kitchen....she left and didn't come back. She was very rude and not helpful at all. The waitress kept apologizing on behalf of the manager and her self. I got the wrong food, fix it! I sat there and watched my whole table eat without me only to be left to sit and wait for new food to be put in a to go box and to still be expected to pay full price for the food. The waitress brought me my check (no discount nothing) April is not someone who should be working in such an establishment! I know that if I looked different I would have been treated differently! It's sad that I was cut off and told off by this manager. Before I orders my food I asked the waitress to let me know if the food is fried or grilled. She stated that it was grilled which is what I wanted. The food comes up and it's fried. I tell her this is not what I order and she takes the food back to the kitchen and 10 mins later she brings me back my meal with sliced up chicken breast.....I did not order chicken breast I ordered chicken thighs...long story short I left the restaurant hungry with no food!

Kate D.

Yelp
Had a really nice meal here! Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Seating is a bit tight, but it felt cozy and casual in a good way. I started with the "Star Bright," one of their "lie-bations" (mocktails). As a pregnant woman, it was nice to see several mocktail options on the drinks menu. The drink was good and surprisingly not overly sweet, considering it had a sugar rim. My husband had the Allegory Old Fashioned, which he said was good, though on the sweeter side as far as old fashioned's go. The "Not So Short, Short Rib" was outstanding! My husband ordered it, and thankfully gave me a few bites. The sauce was so decadent. Loved the mix of mushrooms and gnocchi. We'll definitely be coming back for that dish! I ordered the "Fan Fave" seared scallops, which were also good, though not as delicious as the short rib. The risotto wasn't as flavorful as I would've liked but still a good entree. All in all, a nice, farm-to-table neighborhood spot that I look forward to returning to.

Yelp
We visited Allegory on a recent weeknight based on the high Yelp rating. We were disappointed in the food and service. VIBE: The dining room is a brick-walled shoebox illuminated by strings of overhead mini-lights and a central skylight. Since it was early in the evening, the room was well-lit. As the room filled up, the noise level rose, and by the time we left, it was rather loud. SERVICE: They seemed a bit short-handed when we arrived. Our server was congenial, but it took a long time for our drinks to arrive, and he was quite busy and not very attentive throughout our visit. FOOD: Food was generally so-so. Geisha salad was a good concept, but made with canned Mandarins and overcooked sweet potatoes. Tacos were tasty, but were rather plain and the accompanying rice lacked beans. Sea bass was generously portioned, but salty. There was a decent selection of wines by the glass. I probably wouldn't return on a future visit to Naperville. The food sounded good on the menu, but lacked the flair it could have had.

Y W.

Yelp
There are flies everywhere. One of the guest got sick after eating there. services was slow. The waitresses like to chit chat with each others than providing services. Food portions and taste are fine.

Phil G.

Yelp
First time to this restaurant. We have wanted to try it for a while, but there's so many great places in Naperville. This is a fresh farm to table place! I liked everything about this place. Old style bar in the front, when you walk in. They have a unique atrium window, which made for a relaxing and unique atmosphere. I had an Old Nation M-43 NE Hazy IPA. Fresh on tap, wonderful! I ordered the Here Chickee, Chickee -- waffles and fried chicken thighs, with a mountain of crispy bacon on top. They have a maple/butter whip, which is to die for. Best I've ever had and I will definitely have it again. My wife had the Quiche which included sausage patties, fried red potatoes and greens on the side. Another amazing choice. The servings are large, we couldn't finish either of our choices. The service was attentive and prompt. Definitely a 10.

Barry C.

Yelp
Service outstanding from the host stand to waiters to the bartender and the manager. Food delicious This is a comfortable friendly restaurant. I could not have been happier.

Andrew Y.

Yelp
Upscale dining in the heart of Naperville. The bar is first upon entering and several tables sit past the bar. Scratch kitchen with farm to table offerings- everything we had was made with quality ingredients and had exceptional flavor. Spicy, salty chili was slow cooked for the meat was tender. Everything was fresh in the salad. Burger was clearly Grade A. Server was attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. Clearly evident this place strives for excellence. Well deserving of five stars.

Justine P.

Yelp
In town for a wedding and popped I. For a drink. Wes did great and directed me on a great whisky drink that was amazing! I love the atmosphere here and the staff is amazing.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious, so we're the servers. Felt completely stuffed with the views, and when I say if you're looking for desert there's a lot of cake, without the calories ;). Xoxo Lauren

Rhiannon C.

Yelp
Farm to table and simply delightful. Stopped by on a Saturday evening and the drinks and food were both wonderful. Best tuna melt I've ever had!

Howard L.

Yelp
Friday night in Naperville, and this place was hopping, good, and fun.  And at 5:50pm already!  I called ahead 30 minutes earlier to see if we needed a reservation, but it really wasn't needed as 2/3 of the place is left available for walk-ins I was told, and the only reservation left was at 8:30pm??  Anyway, we walked in at 5:50pm and just about got the last table.  The bar area was filled, pop music was playing, and there was a great lively vibe going. As far as food, wife had their Wall-eyes on Me walleye dinner for $29.  I had their Winner Winner fried chicken dinner for $18.  Our outing was fun and the food was good, but it wasn't 5 star good.  I go with 4.49 stars here rounded down to 4.  The two little food issues holding the rating back were that 1) the walleye was a bit oversalty on the crust and 2) my chicken was tasty but it would have been better if served hotter.  We were quite happy with the outing and maybe we'll get to try some other dishes someday. BTW, we have eaten in this location many times in the past when it was a Heaven on Seven (well over 4 years ago), and that was a good restaurant too.  Allegory seems to have put in more tables and the vibe is upbeat, lively, and loudish and mainly driven by the music I think.  Susan was our server and she and all the staff were attentive and friendly.  Big thumbs up and thank you for the first Naperville dinner we've had in 8 years!

Hillary R.

Yelp
Food: was great! I got the Mac n' cheese and the SWOAN salad with chicken. Very tasty! The rest of our group liked their food besides the charcuterie board that was sub par. Service: Went with a small group of 7 people on a Sunday. We waited nearly 40 minutes just for our mimosas to come. Our waitress did say it was her 2nd day, so we cut her some slack. I would come back again and give their service another try because their food was good. Side note: their menu online is not updated and they don't have a few menu items in the restaurant.

Yelp
Loved our experience at this restaurant! Great location in downtown Naperville with excellent food. You can definitely tell my the quality of food that it's chef owned and operated. My husband and I both ordered the burger and it was delicious with some unique flavors. The "super secret sauce" definitely makes it, which is some sort of tangy bbq sauce mixed with something else? Not really sure to be honest, but I really enjoyed it. We ordered the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake (Nuts About Nancy) and it was so decadent and rich. Would definitely order this again! Will probably try something different other than the burger the next time we come here since there are so many interesting and unique items on the menu. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The quiche is perhaps the best quiche I've ever eaten. And I've eaten many quiches in my life. It's a tall slice too. So big I couldn't even finish it. And the crispy potatoes that came with it were pretty much perfect. I've eaten quite a few things at Allegory over the years since they opened. None that I love as much as the quiche, but everything has been either good or great. Everything is grown locally except for the grapes for the wine. -I'm not a wine drinker, but I can't imagine IL would produce any wine worth drinking. ;) The service I really love. This is an extremely friendly and welcoming business. It's evident that they must enjoy their jobs and I assume they like management. I've had dinners with girlfriends here, mother/daughter lunches, and date nights. It fits the bill for all occasions.

Yelp
Best carnitas tacos I have ever had. I want to return to Allegory to try other options; however, I don't think I could go and not have these tacos. The flavor combination was insanely delicious!

Yelp
Maybe the best Reuben Sandwich of my life. And I'm kind of a Reuben snob. Absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and ambience is very cozy. A sort of indoor patio feel. We loved it.

Yelp
Absolutely love their apps, simple foods, and their Old Fashioned is the best in Naperville. Many of their main entrees don't appeal to me as much but I could see other folks liking them. Anyway, love this place. The decor in the bar area is also top notch and the bartenders are super cool.
