The 10 Worst Dishes of 2023 - Eater NY

"One of the cuisines hardest to get right in NYC is the Cajun and Creole cooking of New Orleans. Alligator Pear made an attempt when it opened this year, but there were several notable failures, including a fried catfish so thickly crusted with blue cornmeal that it had to be pounded to get at the flesh. But even worse were fresh oysters thickly coated with garlic and cheese, at five bucks a pop. What a horrifying thing to do to an oyster!" - Robert Sietsema

Where To Have Your Next Team Dinner - New York - The Infatuation

"Taking your team to New Orleans seems like a NSFW no-no, but you can bring a bit of (supervised) Mardi Gras energy to your team dinner at Alligator Pear. Inspired by The Big Easy, this three-story restaurant serves crowd-pleasing Creole food a couple blocks from Midtown. The two main dining rooms have their own bars, decked out with Jazz Fest posters and hanging ferns. In true NOLA spirit, the cocktails are strong, and you’ll need all the fried food you can get to soak them up. Order highly shareable servings of blue crab beignets, fried alligator bites, and family-style platters of shrimp and andouille jambalaya." - Neha Talreja, Bryan Kim, Hannah Albertine

Alligator Pear - Review - Midtown West - New York - The Infatuation

"A NOLA-themed restaurant in Midtown, Alligator Pear is a useful spot for your next team dinner, with three stories of space and crowd-pleasing Creole food. The two main dining rooms have their own bars, decked out with Jazz Fest posters and the same hanging ferns you’ve seen on balconies in the French Quarter. In case you need somewhere discreet to hide your drunk middle managers, there’s also private dining upstairs and in the wine cellar. In true NOLA spirit, the cocktails are strong, and you’ll need all the fried food you can get to soak them up. Order highly shareable servings of blue crab beignets, fried alligator bites, and family-style platters of shrimp and andouille jambalaya. An extra round of powdered sugar beignets will keep your co-workers happy until next quarter." - Neha Talreja

Amidst the hustle and bustle of Penn District, this restaurant (or bar) offers a unique atmosphere with its spacious layout filled with flowers and greenery. The classic burger exceeded expectations—it was absolutely delicious. The salmon dish was also perfectly balanced, served with asparagus and risotto, adding just the right touch of flavor. Warning – The restaurant has changed its name, so it might be a bit tricky to find.

Excellent bar in Midtown, close to Penn Station. I love their martinis and their fries — they also have an extensive list of cocktails — with probably the best bistro burger in the city! I’ll definitely need to come back

Solid! I took a gamble on a place I never tried before when family popped into town. The food is pretty appealing but not exceptional. I got the bistro burger which was fine, they cooked it to the right temperature which I appreciated. Overall what I really valued was the service which was excellent. I was also able to make a reservation pretty last minute on a Friday night and we got seated immediately. We had kids in our party (they took the photos don’t judge) and they even enjoyed it.

A dream come true venue, culinary and experience! Food 11/10 Service 10/10 They do make you order everything upfront but it’s great service, loveliest ladies serving & hosting. Drink 10/10 and those beignets 100/10 😋 I had to order another bag of them! (I never do that!) Gorgeous ambiance, high ceilings, wonderful hostess, doorman, 20/10 music and psa system 🎵 and worth every single dollar, weight gain and liver ache! I rarely repeat places especially plates but I wanna go back and eat and pay for everything all over again

To start, we ordered the Cheese & Charcuterie Board—an excellent choice. For the main dishes, we enjoyed the NY Strip Steak and Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo. Every dish was outstanding, truly the best we've had. The ambiance was beautifully designed—both elegant and relaxing—and the service was absolutely superb. Highly recommended!

Just went at lunch thinking they only had dinner meals in their menu: but they had mentioned something about rebranding the restaurant and showed me the lunch deals. Food: I bought the Pan Roasted Atlantic Salmon. It was excellent and tasty! Service: The hostesses (2) in the front were very helpful and accommodating with great authentic personalities! Atmosphere: Very bougie and elegant 👍🏽 Critique: They could save money with the packaging. It was very nice but not necessary. I'm guessing a marketing tactic. Will come back!

We went to the bar, which has another naming already a week ago. The service was great, but food tasted … okay. And it was a little disappointment, because the appearance of steak/tuna tartare/lobster roll was amazing but everything had lack of taste, probably lack of spices (I wanted to add salt everywhere), maybe using of another ingredients, but we were sad in the end. However, crème brûlée cheesecake was one of the best in my life.

Delighted I came across Alligator Pear on a random stroll through the city. The drinks, food and vibes were all of the highest standard. Everything was quite simply extraordinary. The hosts and my servers took care of me from the moment I entered to the moment I left. Jane, Cara and Ali (I think) went above and beyond. 10/10 will be back for sure!
