A Chef’s Guide to Portuguese Food and Lisbon | Eater

"A small Campo de Ourique bakery famed for its pastéis de nata, which feature a soft crust and a custard filling that's less sweet than many competitors; the texture and flavor are often likened to a crème brûlée wrapped in a crispy, flaky shell. The shop also offers excellent almond tarts and a standout bolo de berlim — a fluffy, pastry-cream–filled doughnut — making it a worthwhile pilgrimage for pastry lovers." - Marcy Franklin

Google
Had many of pastel de nata while visiting Lisbon but only at Aloma they served a cold one so I’m giving this place a three star. I’m not sure why and wondering if they don’t bake it fresh in house because every other places I went always offer the fresh hot baked.

We’ve tried few natas, and I certainly can guarantee these ones were far the best ones - the perfect crust crunchiness combined with velvety cream. This place has my top pasteis de nata. The dough was so flaky and crispy. Well flavored custard, perfectly balanced sweetness

This place has my top pasteis de nata. The dough was so flaky and crispy. Well flavored custard. Also got an espresso and it was well made.

Even the Aloma pastries are good I am disappointed … I bought a pack of pastries in the Aloma airport shop! They tried to sell me old pastries, completely bad and not crunchy, after complaining they gave me recent ones… poor behaviour

I’ve tried throughout my life so many natas, given that I’m Portuguese, and I certainly can guarantee these ones were far the best ones - the perfect crust crunchiness combined with velvety cream. Outstanding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
They say they have the best “pastel de nata” in 2012, 2013 and i think 2015, they are really good!! U should definitely give it a try! Nice, clean and old fashioned inside looking which is kind of cool! Is not a messy place like other bakeries!!!

Yelp
Continuing with my pastel de nata tour.. Their pastel de nata is smaller than the other ones we've had. We went to the outpost at the Corte Ingles. The outside crust was somewhat flaky. The filling was way too sweet and pudding like for me. The pastel here is €1 each.

Yelp
This is my second favorite place to get pastel de Nata in Lisbon. It's second only to Pastéis de Belém. That's saying a lot given that the Pastéis de Belém literally invented the pastel de Nata. Aloma's pastel de Nara has the perfect balance of sweet, but not super sweet. The Nata is firm and delicious. This is a great find outside of the tourist area and a must go for anyone in Lisbon.

Yelp
Many articles have recommended this place for a Portuguese tart. I was not disappointed. They were sold out when I first found this location, but they told me to come back in ~10 minutes for a fresh batch. Boy, was it worth it. the tart was flaky, and the filling was hot and creamy. The staff are so friendly! I must have had "tourist" written on my forehead, as the staff asked where I was from, and how long I would be visiting there in Portugal. The server even drew a little cartoon saying "Welcome to Portugal!". I just landed that day, so it really was a perfect start to my vacation.

Yelp
How could these possibly be award winning egg tarts? The pastry was thick, not flaky and so hard that it was tough work cutting an egg tart into 2 with metal cutlery. Clearly the pastries were not fresh and had been on display all day long. Although the server placed the egg tarts under a grill before serving and told us that they were very hot, we found that they were not even mildly warm. Such a disappointment and waste of calories consumption. I was hoping that the egg tarts at Aloma would be so tasty that I could purchase some to fly home with and save me trekking back to Manteigaria but it was not to be. We only got to the airport with a few minutes to spare before gate closure after having to make another trip uphill to the far superior Manteigaria egg tart specialist!

Yelp
I am so thrilled to write the first English review for this delicious product! I am giving 5 stars based on taste alone as I have not actually been to the pastelaria in Lisbon. A friend of mine from Portugal carried these delectables for me on the plane. The pastries are delicious and flaky with a luscious creamy filling! Simply wonderful. Now I have yet another reason to go to Lisbon!

Yelp
Nice place to take a break, near a garden with parking nearby. Don't expect any smiles, at least I didn't get any... :(

Yelp
I had their coffee and pastel de natas special. It was highly disappointing, the crust wasn't even flaky and the custard wasn't hot. The coffee was okay.. Atleast it wasn't overpriced.

Yelp
Ok the pastel de nata are actually pretty good - apparently the won a price or something, which given the rest of their pastries is quite surprising: they are crap. We tried a lot of different pastries and none of them was any good. Service? Are you kidding me? Do yourself a favor and try somewhere else, there are plenty of other cafes next to it and they can't possibly be worse. Won't go there again even if I am starving.
