"Sweets galore, artisan bread, excellent cheese selection and well-made prepared food keep Alon's consistently packed. Unlike its larger sister operation on the Perimeter, the Morningside Alon's does in fact have that homey, special feeling that any neighborhood market should have. On the weekends you can find neighbors enjoying a coffee and reading the paper, or coming in for a bite after their morning jog. The desserts and pastries are hard to miss, but it’s also a great place to get a take-home side dish or meal, or to gather up some staples for a picnic in Piedmont Park!" - Dear Elouise
"We debated if nuts would disqualify Alon’s chocolate chip cookies, but these are so damn good, we couldn’t leave them off. With the help of Georgia pecans, there’s a nice salt level that balances out the rich, semi-sweet chocolate chunks and complements the vanilla and malty flavors. Because of their small size and chewiness, it's easy to fall into the “just one more” trap. The good (or bad) news is that you can order these by the pound at any of Alon’s metro locations." - jacinta howard, juli horsford, nina reeder
"With locations in Morningside and Phipps, Alon’s has been serving some of Atlanta’s finest pastries for more than 30 years. The robust croissant and cookie selection — think chocolate praline, pistachio, and twice-baked croissants and sables, shortbread, and krakovsky cookies — is particularly noteworthy. They’ve also got larger options, like chocolate and cinnamon babka loaves, croquembouche, and a macaron tower." - Lia Picard, Sarra Sedghi
"Their Buckhead location works in a pinch, but we’re still smitten with Alon's flagship in Morningside. Go here, and head straight to their giant prepared foods section if there are dinner party guests to impress. It’s organized chaos inside the glass doors, with four specialized counters serving different foods. Start on the left with the baked goods (get the sweet, sticky cinnamon twists) and work your way down through the daintier desserts (opera cakes and macarons). And if you can't shop on an empty stomach, get a sandwich—the perfect opportunity to try out their breads, like the soft rosemary focaccia or the denser rye. " - juli horsford
"A small step inside the glass doors of Alon's Morningside flagship leads directly to an organized chaos of folks shopping the various counters for take-home dinners, catering for parties, and made-to-order sandwiches. We mainly use this one-stop-shop market for their prepared foods—anytime we get a potluck invite, we're bringing Alon's. The special olive bread made with black olives is always clutch on a cheese tray. Their soft, chewy cookies could start an office brawl for the last one. And the bakery's pastries are top tier. And if shopping makes you hungry, move on to the sandwich and salad counter to snag an excellent smoked peppered turkey sandwich with sprouts on fresh baked whole wheat bread." - Juli Horsford
