I was very excited to find Alta as it appeared similar to one of my all time favorites, Rustic Bakery in Marin.
I'm always on the lookout for my next favorite quiche or frittata and was hoping theirs was going to be amazing judging by the beautiful prepartions of their pastries, other customer reviews, and the line out the door. Sadly, I was not a fan of the frittata as it was cool in temp and resembled more of an egg mousse... the first couple bites literally melted away on my tongue... not in a good way.
However.... really not enjoying it, I walked inside and notified the first cook I saw working behind the counter to see if this is how it should be. To my surprise this kind gentlemen was very engaged, asked my a couple questions about the food, and how he could fix it, he then offered to personally cook me a dish. He ended up finding me a delicious slice of quiche, and it was presented beautifully. Wow, talk about hospitality! Also to my surprise, I later Iearned that this kind gentleman was Ben, the chef owner. The experience could've been a let down, but it ended up being a uniquely lovely quick brunch. Needless to say, I will certainly be back with friends and family! Thank you Ben and team, you're all exemplary at what you do, and I really hope to see you continue to shine
